Chapter 1
Everlasting Proposal | LINGORM
Orm paced back and forth in her quaint home, frustration etched deep into her furrowed brows.
The stack of papers scattered across her desk mocked her from the corner of the room, taunting with the blank pages that remained devoid of words.
Why wasn't the story coming together? She had spent months trying to come up with a new plot, but the muse was infuriatingly silent.
Orm paused her pacing for a moment, her forehead creasing as she tried to gather more ideas.
She ran a hand through her mess of blonde hair, making it wilder, as her mind went through the list of classic cheesy plots.
"Ugh! They're so cliché !" She groaned loudly.
"Enemies to lovers... love triangle....secret identities...all been done a million times! Ugh!"
She began pacing again, her ramblings turning even more dramatic as she threw her arms in the air - making grand gestures as she spoke the cliche plot out loud.
"No, no! I refuse to let my characters be reduced to overused tropes and clichés. There's got to be something original, something fresh, something...
...oh my God, what am I doing?!"
She finally stopped, suddenly self-aware, her face burning with embarrassment.
She was talking to herself, out loud, in her mostly empty living room. She was turning crazy.
Orm decided she needed to get out of her house. A change of scenery might clear her head and spark her imagination - maybe a walk in the park or a bookstore.
She went to grab her coat, slipping it on quickly.
"Ugh, what now?!" Orm groaned under her breath, feeling a wave of disappointment wash over her as she heard the knock on the door.
She took a deep breath, composing herself before reaching for the handle and swinging the door open to find Fah and Mike standing on the other side.
Orm's eyes narrowed at the sight of these two, she put a hand on her hip, eyeing them skeptically.
"Can't a girl have some peace and quiet to work?" she asked, the hint of annoyance clear in her voice.
"What do you two want this time?"
Fah and Mike exchanged a look, their faces lighting up as if they had rehearsed this beforehand.
"We missed our dear friend and decided to pay her a visit!" Fah said, her voice overly saccharine, her smile a little too wide - the sarcasm evident even for anyone but Orm.
"We're only stopping by to hang out," Mike added, his smug grin just as obvious as Fah's over-sweetened tone of voice.
Orm, still preoccupied with her writer's block, let out a resigned sigh.
"Fine, come in, just don't be too loud," she grumbled, opening the door wider to let them in.
She closed the door behind them, trying to mask her annoyance and pretend she wasn't just a moment away from ripping her hair out.
"So, Orm, how you've been doing lately?" Fah asked, her eyes filled with concern, a hint of genuine worry in her voice.
Orm's expression softened somewhat, her thoughts drifting back to the passing of her father - the recent loss still a sensitive subject.
"Oh, you know..." she said, avoiding eye contact as she fiddled with her coat. "Just...trying to focus on my writing, keep my mind off other things..."
Mike, noticing her hesitance, chimed in, his voice soft but earnest.
"You know, maybe you should take a little break, Orm. It's been a tough few weeks. You could use some time for yourself."
Maybe they had a point. She was pushing herself too hard, trying to write through the pain.
"I...I guess you're right," she admitted reluctantly. "A change of pace would be nice. What did you have in mind?"
The couple's smiles grew wider, as Fah whipped out the plane ticket with a hotel reservation for South Korea.
"Ta-da!" Fah called out cheerily, waving the ticket between her fingers.
"We thought it was time for a vacation," Mike said, his expression hopeful. "You've always wanted to go."
Orm's eyes widened, her annoyance at the interruption forgotten as she gazed at the ticket in disbelief. South Korea...it was her dream destination. They remembered.
Her lips curved into a grin, her earlier frustration replaced with an exhilarating wave of excitement.
"Wait, wait! Is this real?!" She held out a hand, expecting them to hand her the ticket.
Fah and Mike giggled, clearly pleased with Orm's reaction.
"Of course, we're dead serious!" Fah replied with a grin. "This is a trip of a lifetime. It cost us a lot, so you better say yes!"
Orm's excitement took over. She couldn't believe they were doing this for her.
She always thought they were a source of chaos, never expecting them to do something so selfless.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!!" she gushed, hugging both Fah and Mike without a second thought.
A trip of a lifetime to South Korea. Nothing could go wrong, right?
