"It didn't work. I ... I don't understand. It should have worked." Maddox whispered, tears pooling in his eyes as a lump formed in his throat.

"Leave." Remy growled out, eyes black and fangs bared. He warned Maddox and he really didn't want to have to kill the boy.

Maddox didn't move from Ava's side. He remained there, mumbling quietly to himself, as he watched the black swirls of poison continue to move under Ava's skin.

"I said get out, Maddox!" Remy yelled, pulling him back by his sweater.

If he left the pain wouldn't be that bad. He wouldn't have to witness first hand how he killed his mate. Maddox was scared enough, he didn't need to visually see Ava succumb the poison.

Maddox bared his own fangs, his face res with anger despite the tears running down his face. "She's your daughter, but she's my mate! I'm not leaving her! You would never leave Genevieve, so shut the hell up!"

The men were close to attacking each other, before Silas stormed into the room. "We got a trace on the poison. It was purchased just out of town at some witch shop. Roman has the address."

Remy faced Maddox. "Go with Roman."

"I'm not leaving Ava." Maddox glared back, body tense with anger and frustration.

Remy stared at Maddox, his pupils dilating to tiny black dots. Maddox could feel pressure in his head, before his body started to move towards the door. He gritted his teeth and bit his tongue, knowing Remy was using his powers to control him.

"Don't worry, it wares off as soon as you've followed his command." Silas patted Maddox on the back. "You should be happy anyway, we are closer to finding the son of a bitch who did this to Av."

"Your father's an ass." Maddox gritted out, as he walked to wherever Roman was.

"Family means everything to him and if his way of showing it means he's an ass, than so be it." The rest of the way to Roman was silent, and deep down Maddox knew what Silas had meant.

"Stop walking so slow. Let's go." Roman yelled from the drivers seat of his car.

Maddox grunted, closing the garage door behind him and Silas, before they got into the car. While on the road, Maddox could finally feel the pressure in his head release as he was freed from Remy's control.

"All we have to do is break in, grab the surveillance tape & then get the hell out of there. Back at home we'll watch the tape with dad, find out who bought the stuff and then confront the guy." Roman informed, before getting out his truck.

Maddox was anxious about watching the tape. What if it was Sebastian or someone Sebastian hired? Maddox didn't want Sebastian to be a part of it. Ava had trusted Sebastian and for him to possible go as far as shooting her in the back with deadly arrows. That was real low, even for the kid.

The boys were in and out of the shop without causing any suspicion, Silas having the tape underneath his shirt. In side the car you could feel the tension and anxiousness rolling off of all three of them. That tiny CD held the identity of Ava's attacker and he better be prepared for the wrath of a pack of wolves.

Everything moved pretty quickly as the men of Ava's family gathered in Remy's office. After inserting the cd they waited for the recording to come up, before rewinding all the way to the night before Ava was attacked.

Maddox was so anxious it was the first time he noticed Sebastian back from his grandfathers' as he stood amongst the men. Levi and Mike were also present as they all stared at the screen waiting for someone to appear that they recognized ... and that someone they did recognize.

Maddox turned around with speed, grabbing Mike by the collar of his shirt and slamming him into the large bookcase behind them. "You son of a bitch! I'm going to kill you."

Everyone seemed to be stunned with surprise as Maddox beat the doctor into the bookcase. Mike had a crazy smile on his face, as he let Maddox direct blow after blow on his body. "You motherfucker! It was you all along!"

Levi jumped in, trying to pull Maddox back before he killed the doctor. They needed answers first, then he could die.

Levi and Roman held Maddox back, as he struggled to get away. Mike had slid to the ground, his back against the bookcase, his breathing harsh from Maddox's attack.

Remy stood a few feet away from Mike, his muscles tense as he stared at his daughters doctor, his pack member, his friend. With an invisible force Mike was lifted into the air, his feet dangling just inches from the ground as he clawed at his neck, as if someone were choking him.

"Tell me how to cure Ava and I might let you live." Remy seemed oddly calm, though his eyes were completely black, and the veins in his neck were pulsing beneath his skin.

Mike glared at Remy, fighting the control Remy had over him. "There is no cure. That was the whole point. To create something that would kill the great hybrid and what better way then to test it on his only true heir."

Remy tightened the invisible grip he had on Mike's throat. "There has to be a fucking cure. Give it to me and I'll spare your pathetic life."

"J-just kill me because t-there is no cure." Mike managed to choke out.

"I hope you rot in hell." Remy said, before Mike's shirt suddenly caught fire. The man began to scream in agony, swatting at the flames that just grew bigger and hotter.

"Everyone leave besides Maddox." Remy said quietly, as he watched the man before him slowly burn alive.

Everyone hurried out of the room, Mike's screams of pain following out into the hall.

Remy threw a glance at Maddox, who glared at Mike, hands clenched. Remy focused back on his target and let the flames stop, making Mike gasp for air, his chest severely burned. Suddenly he began to scream again, as the skin of his chest popped open, revealing his fleshy muscles and his beating heart.

Remy stood over Mike, the man barely hanging onto his life.

"Night, Night." With that Remy let his heart explode, splattering red warm blood over the floor and the top of his boots.

Maddox and Remy were silent, letting the reality of the situation sink in. It had been the doctor all along, and he had been the first to treat Ava. He had suggested all the treatments that went wrong. No wonder he wanted Remy to donate blood. It'd replace the human blood in her and speed up the poison. Remy had almost killed her with his blood.

But the part that hit them the most was that there was no cure for Ava. She had just a few more hours and then it'd all be over and neither of the men wanted to believe that.

"Ava's waking up." Sawyer said quietly, as soon as he walked into the room, his eyes darting to the dead body, and then back to his dad.

Remy and Maddox rushed to the hospital area, hearts beating wild. Maddox couldn't believe it. If his marking had really worked then they could finally be together. This was the moment, after so many years where they could finally be together without anything standing in the way.

Maddox was confused though when Genevieve had tears in her eyes, blocking his way into Ava's room.

"I need to see her." Maddox whispered, not understanding why she wasn't letting him in.

"I ... I don't think you should go in there." Genevieve replied, begging Maddox with her eyes not to go in there.

Maddox couldn't obey. He needed to see Ava for himself. Stepping into the room, he felt his heart drop to his stomach.

Warm tears were running down her temples, her eyes barely open, as she laid on the hospital bed. "...astian. I can't  ... Sebastian ... I ...Sebastian."

Surprised that Sebastian is innocent? It was too fun letting you guys believe it was Sebastian. I love playing mind games. Every time someone commented that it was Sebastian I would laugh and reply with an answer that would lead them further in the wrong direction. I'm so evil XD

The ending unexpected right?
