Ch.42 Beauty With The Beast

The Hybrid ( BOOK I & II)

**UNEDITED

"Don't faint before I put the ring on." Remy chuckled lightly.

"I love you Remy Monroe." Genevieve laughed, watching as Remy slid the diamond ring on her finger. "It's beautiful."

"So are you baby, so are you." Remy kissed his fiancé passionately.

They were a couple that would be together now and forever.

___

"So when's the baby girl due?" Caroline asked, while sipping some of her fresh brewed tea.

Genevieve sat across from Remy's mother, a small smile on her face. "Levi thinks in about two weeks."

Caroline nodded, her thin eyebrows raised. "Will he be the assisting doctor or have you chosen a different doctor?"

"Remy and I think it's best if it's Levi." Genevieve explained, rubbing the top of her big baby bump. "He's kind of been our doctor from the start."

"It's great that everything is going perfectly for you two. Remy's never been happier than in this past year and a half." Caroline admitted, with a certain honesty in her voice.

Genevieve looked away, a little shy from the compliment. "Thank you, Caroline. It means a lot to us that you support us."

Caroline chuckled lightly. "Of course. Remy and Mary Jane are my children and all I want is for them to be happy. Remy's already found his happiness and now it's just my little girl. For the future I hope she has a mate, if not that than at least a great husband."

Genevieve smiled. "Mary Jane is absolutely the sweetest little girl, she'll find happiness either way."

Sighing Contently, Caroline asked. "How's Remy doing with the new responsibility?"

"I never had doubt he'd be anything less than a great leader." Genevieve confessed, her brown eyes bright as she mentioned Remy. "I just hope it isn't too much stress on him."

Caroline patted the back of Genevieve's hand, a soft smile on her face. "Everything will fall into it's place. I believe everything happens for a reason. So maybe it might be hard to adapt to the new changes; but in time, everything will settle down and become the new normal."

"Let's hope you're right." Genevieve laughed lightly.

....

"Beauty and the Beast?" Remy asked his younger sister.

"Is it okay if we read beauty and the beast Maxie?" Mary Jane asked the young pup, who was quietly seated on her pink bean bag.

Maddox nodded with a small smile on his chubby face, but didn't proceed to verbally state his opinion.

"Comfortable?" Remy glanced between the two, with the overused children's book in his hand.

Maddox nodded, the sleeves of his batman shirt covering his small fingers. Mary Jane grinned happily at her big brother, despite the common cold she had. When was she ever not ready to hear her favorite story?

Remy snapped open the thin book that was slowly falling apart, and began to read the lines he had already read thousands of times before.

It had been a stressful week, since Remy proposed to Genevieve at their waterfall. The Shadow Steele pack was struggling to adjust to the fact that Remy was alpha and as alpha of the pack, he had the final word. Most of the shifters were happy that such a powerful man was leading their pack, but than you had certain adults and elders that didn't like the way Remy had just painted himself into the picture. They were convinced that Remy had planned this all; the fae attack, the torture of Maddox, the rescue just to convince Maddox to give him the alpha position.

Remy wanted to set them straight, tell them that if they didn't want him leading the pack than they could go find a new one or become rouges. He wanted to, but didn't. Remy was convinced that those who were against him, were just intimidated and scared of a stronger male coming in and taking the highest rank.

Next to the pack, Remy was dealing with a pregnant Genevieve, who couldn't be left alone longer than a few hours. Gen had been having even more dizzy spills, with stomach cramps here and there. She was still convinced that these were just minor health problems and that everything would be over in two weeks. Remy had informed Levi about the symptoms, to which the obstetrician made a house visit. There was nothing Levi could do about the dizzy spills, because the baby was in fact feeding off of Genevieve. A little more than expected, but nothing that would become fatal for Genevieve.

..

"... and they lived happily ever after." Remy closed the book softly, afterwards kissing his sister's flushed cheek.

Mary Jane was tired, but managed to give Remy a toothy smile. Remy brushed back her blonde curls, and returned the smile with his own.

"Maddox, will you go downstairs and tell Genevieve that we're leaving in two minutes?" Remy glanced at the young boy from over his shoulder.

Maddox nodded, while making his way towards Mary Jane's bedroom door.

"Bye Maxie." Mary Jane giggled, a shy smile on her face as she watched Maddox.

The boy smiled back, before pecking her warm cheek and running out of the room.

"Does my baby sister have a crush?" Remy faked a stern look, although he thought the whole scene to be pretty cute.

"Maybe he's my prince. Do you think so?" Mary Jane smiled in between coughs.

"I thought I was your prince?" Remy asked, while pulling her pink covers further up her small body.

"Now it's Maddox, but don't tell him yet." Mary Jane spoke enthusiastically about the young werewolf boy.

Remy chuckled and slipped the book back onto her shelf. "Are you going to tell him next week, when we go to the park together?"

Mary Jane's grin widened if that was even possible. "I think so. Daddy said we can only go to the park once I'm better.

Planting a chaste kiss on her heated forehead, Remy smiled down at her. "Then you get healthy fast."

Mary Jane nodded, pulling her large beast pillow into her arms. "I will."

Remy squeezed her tiny hand softly. "I'll see you next week, boo. I love you."

"Love you too, Remy."

Remy slipped out of her room, but made sure to leave her door open.

He made his way downstairs, where he met up with Genevieve and Maddox, before leaving the house.

..

"Two scoops of chocolate in a cone, please." Remy pulled the three dollars out of his wallet, handing it over to the teenaged girl behind the counter.

"Just a second." The girl blushed, before scooping the ice cream into a cone.

Remy handed the cone to Maddox, who smiled and whispered a quiet thank you.

Remy and Maddox walked outside the ice cream shop, meeting Genevieve who sat on the bench just outside the shop.

"Ready, babe?" Remy asked Genevieve, while handing Maddox a napkin for the ice cream that dripped down his tiny fingers.

"... S-something's ... wrong." Genevieve's breathing was labored, her hands on her stomach, tears pooling in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" Remy asked worriedly, his heart racing in his chest as he glanced at Genevieve.

"It ... it hurt's really bad." Genevieve tried to muster a smile, when Maddox looked at her with wide eyes.

Remy lifted Genevieve into his arms, ignoring the pedestrians that glanced their way. "Maddox get in the car, we have to go."

Maddox complied, hoping in the back seat of the car as Remy placed Genevieve in the passenger seat. Remy rushed around to the drivers side and started to drive, glancing from the street to Genevieve. Sweat started to form on her forehead, as she whimpered quietly in pain.

Remy pulled out his phone and threw it into the backseat. "Maddox, I need you to help me call the doctor can you do that?"

Maddox nodded, tears welling up in his own eyes. He could sense that something more was going on then what the couple wanted him to know.

Remy told Maddox what numbers to type into the phone, as he pushed harder on the gas pedal.

Genevieve cried out, as well as trying to catch her breath. She was in so much pain. It felt as if something was tearing through her stomach. Suddenly warm liquid leaked through her underwear and onto her dress.

Remy glanced at her, as soon as he smelt the familiar scent of fresh blood. "Hold on a few more minutes, baby and then I'll get you some help."

Genevieve could barely keep her eyes open, as the pain felt worse than anything other she had experienced.

"Levi, we are coming to the coven house. I think she's having the baby." Remy spoke fast, his gums throbbing at the scent of his mates blood.

"Did her water break? What's happening?" Levi was frantic himself.

"She's in pain and she just started to bleed a great amount." Remy replied.

"Fuck!" He cursed, as the light turned red.

Suddenly an ambulance came speeding down the street, the red lights flashing and the siren loud.

"Don't let her pass out." Levi said, worried for his friend.

"We'll be there in three minutes." Remy replied, before hanging up.

"Baby, you have to stay awake for me." Remy glanced at Genevieve, but received no reply.

"Genevieve? Baby, wake up!" Remy was frantic, he couldn't help Genevieve and drive the car.

"Maddox, can you shake Gen's shoulder for me?" Remy asked, taking the turn that led to Levi's coven house.

Maddox did as told, his small fingers slipping on Geneveieve's damp skin. He refused to stop, an unknown fear gripping his heart at the possibility of his luna dying.

Remy grunted with frustration and worry, speeding down the final street. The car had barely stopped, before Remy was out of it and on his way to grab Genevieve.

Levi and two other doctors made fast work to strap Gen on to the gurney. Remy lifted Maddox into his arms and jogged after Levi.

Genevieve was in daze, she could barely keep her eyes open to focus on what exactly Levi was saying.

Levi performed the ultrasound, the wizard in total doctor mode.

"What's wrong Levi?" Remy asked, standing by Genevieve's side. He held Genevieve's limp hand, his thumb rubbing over her knuckles, as he balanced Maddox on his hip.

Levi ignored Remy and continued to focus on his patient. He spoke to the other two doctors in medical terms, nothing that Remy understood.

"Levi!" Remy growled, his deep voice scaring the two doctors.

"I'm doing the best I can, Remy." Levi barked back, he couldn't focus on Remy and Genevieve, and quite frankly Genevieve was more important.

Remy could feel the burning in his eyes, the lump in his throat.

"The baby has ripped the main artery in her uterus. Genevieve is bleeding from the inside out and I need to perform surgery now. I'll be honest Remy, the chances that both will survive are not on our side."

Remy felt his heart drop, tears running down his cheeks. He couldn't do anything but squeeze Genevieve hand, praying that she wouldn't leave him; not now, not ever.

Genevieve moaned in pain, her eyes closed, yet she managed to squeeze Remy's hand back. "S- .... save our b-baby."

Remy set Maddox on his feet, afterwards turning to Genevieve.

"Levi will save both of you." Remy cried into her neck, his lips trembled against her skin.  "Genevieve, I know you can do this. Please don't leave me, baby."

Genevieve wasn't confident one bit, but she didn't want Remy to worry even more. She tried mustering a smile for Remy. He didn't need to remember her in pain.

"Remy, I need to operate now." Levi laid a hand on Remy's back.

Remy nodded, before kissing Genevieve hard. He moved lower to kiss her baby bump, before nodding to Levi.

Genevieve's lips trembled as she tried to say something, yet no full words came out.

But Remy understood. "I love you too, baby."
