"There's more. Do you want to know or do you want to wait for Remy?" Levi asked, feeling sorry for his close friend Remy and Genevieve.
"Tell me." Genevieve said, her eyes dull as she watched the large raven in the tree outside of her window.
"I got your blood work back from yesterday. Your WBC is elevated but, that's due to the head injury you sustained. Your HCG count was also elevated, meaning you are pregnant."
*** Chapter has a little medical information as well as overall information. If you don't understand something just comment & I'll try to explain.*** I'm posting the cover for book two when I update next time!
Genevieve's heart skipped a beat, fear gripping it to no end. "I ... Â I Â can't be p-pregnant, Levi."
Levi's hazel eyes showed sympathy, his lips in a thin line. "The blood results are more accurate than any other pregnancy test."
Genevieve closed her eyes tightly, unconsciously her hand moved to her lower stomach, gently pressing against the place where a new life was growing.
"Naturally you have options. You can keep the baby, whether it's Remy's child or not. There's always adoption or abortion. You do-"
"No." Genevieve almost glared at Levi. "I will n-not have an a-abortion."
Levi mentally smiled. He had a feeling that terminating the pregnancy was the last thing Genevieve would do. "It's your choice. You don't have to decide right now but you should think about the other two options. As well as talking to Remy about your decision. If you don't have anymore questions, I'll leave you to think about everything."
"Will ... w-will he know?" Genevieve asked, her lips trembling as she referred to her mate.
"Not necessarily." Levi began, as he placed Gen's chart back onto her dresser. "Is there a possibility that the baby could be his?"
Despite just how scared Genevieve was, her cheeks got warm as she looked away. "How common is it, for a woman to get pregnant even after using condoms?"
"Realistically seen, condoms are 85% of the time effective, meaning an average of fifteen woman out of hundred get pregnant when using condoms every year. It rises with the count of times you have sex, so to say you could in fact be carrying Remy's child." Levi began to explain. "If you are carrying his child, then a heartbeat should be heard around the third to fourth week of the pregnancy. Remy would hear a second heartbeat and logically he would know you're pregnant. But if you are not carrying Remy's child, you'd be carrying a human fetus."
Genevieve knew that female mates if marked and mated, couldn't carry another supernatural beings child. Genevieve considered herself marked and mated, even if Remy wasn't able to mark her. He had explained to Gen, that his vampire gene would work against the werewolf side and vice versa. A marking bite needed to be tended to and cared for,  a healing process of three to four days. If Remy tried to give her a marking, the vampire side of him would heal the werewolf bite. It was the same thing if his vampire side tried to mark her.
"Early in the fifth week of pregnancy, your baby's heart would begins to form. Your baby's heart would start beating at 22 or 23 days post-conception, which is during the fifth week of your pregnancy. At this point, your baby's heart will be too small to generate enough sound waves to be audible, even when amplified by the use of medical equipment." Levi continued to explain. "Twelve weeks into the pregnancy, the Doppler which is a is a small, handheld ultrasound instrument that transmits the sounds of your baby's heartbeat,  should consistently and audibly detect your baby's heartbeat, allowing you to hear it sooner than you otherwise would. That will be around the time Remy notices the heartbeat too."
"So to s-some it up; If the b-baby is  Remy's then ... he'll, .... he'll know within the n-next two weeks and otherwise, he'd first know around t-the twelfth week?" Genevieve asked after taking in all the information.
Levi smiled faintly. "Exactly. My personal opinion is to just straight out tell Remy that your pregnant. Let him know that there is a very high chance of the baby not being his. If you are not ready to tell him about the possible rape, than I'll talk to him for you. "
"It's important for you not to overwork your brain the next few weeks and just try to take it easy. I know a pregnancy is something big, but you'll have Remy and your parents to help you take some of the weight off. "
Genevieve rubbed her lower belly, her face stricken and contorted with worry.  The thought of having Remy's baby made her happy and excited. Yet, the though of not knowing who the father was, had Genevieve scared and disgusted with herself. How could she not know if she had been raped? It was a question that was swarming in her head, along with all the different scenarios of Remy's reaction to the pregnancy.
The sound of her bedroom door closing, was the only thing Genevieve needed for her to let her tears run freely. Her heart ached with unfamiliar pain. Never had Genevieve ever felt so worried, so scared and in a way ... exposed.
Remy would be angered by the news, even if it was his baby. Genevieve remembered how he had clearly stated that he wanted to wait, how he wanted them both to sit down and consider the dangers as well as the positive sides to getting Genevieve pregnant.
Hell, it was one of the things she could remember!
Maybe if Genevieve tried to think harder back to that night, then she could remember if someone had raped her. If she just knew for sure, that the baby was Remy's than the half of her worries would be gone.
Deep down Genevieve knew that Remy would learn to love the baby, whether it be his child or another's. As long as Remy loved Genevieve, than he would know that that growing baby was a huge part of her. Remy was in general understanding and he showered Genevieve with affection, he was overall perfect for the twenty four year old woman.
Assuming the baby was Remy's, than Genevieve would have no way of knowing if the rape had occurred. But honestly, she couldn't remember and if she was having Remy's baby, than the possible rape was just a minor worry. Finding out that Gen could have been raped, would be more scarring and hatefully remembered, compared to remembering her first child being born and Remy standing by her side, through out the whole experience.
But all those positive scenarios and thoughts were buried deep inside Genevieve's subconscious, as she silently cried herself to sleep.
..
..
"She's fragile right now Remy, I'm serious." Levi looked up at Remy, as the drove the last minutes to Genevieve's childhood home.
Remy gave short nod. Something more had happened than what anyone was telling him.
He had felt her pain the morning he got up. Remy hadn't hesitated to call her on her cellphone. After multiple times of Genevieve not picking up, Remy called her dads. They had only stated that Genevieve had had an incident the night she landed, where she sustained a major head injury and that she was to that time in a medically induced coma.
Remy had called Levi, one of the best doctors he knew and trusted. Levi had stated that he was already in Miami, and had been there two nights into the full moon. He was the one in charge for Genevieve's medical treatment at the moment, even though he was specialized in in the management of pregnancy, labor and birth.
Levi had almost thought of it to be ironic when he had read Genevieve's blood results.
"Don't pressure her and make sure to stay calm. Genevieve needs to take it slow." Levi turned into the Van Acker driveway. "I don't think you should mention the stutter or the slurred speech, as of now.
"Thank you for flying down here and watching over her. I owe you." Remy honestly said, his grey eyes landing on Genevieve's bedroom window.
"You know you can count on me anytime. Tell Genevieve I'll see her in two weeks when you guys come back home." Levi smiled, as her parked the Van Archer's black BMW on the graveled driveway.
"I will." Remy agreed, his large hand already on the door handle of the passenger side.
"Her dads have a pack doctor treating Genevieve now, who's really good at his job." Levi tried to assure the 6'8 man. "I tried to take leave another week so I can continue to medically treat her, but the damn hospital is low on staff and made it clear that I have other patients."
"Go home to your wife, Levi." Remy got out of the car. "Tell Beau we'll be home in a couple of days."
Levi chuckled softly. "Maci is going to miss Beau when you take him back home with you."
Remy smiled, despite wanting to just run up to his mate and hold her in his arms, where she would be safe.
As if Levi read his thoughts, he told Remy goodbye and finally let the hybrid jog to the front door of his mates house.
Remy knocked three times on the door, before ringing once for good measure.
Surprisingly Dean opened the door, a surprised look on his face as well.
"Move." Remy's voice was deep and powerful, that of a true leader.
Dean had learned from their first encounter and took a few steps back, letting Remy inside the large house.
Remy was halfway up the stairs to Genevieve's bedroom, before stalking back down. He moved with speed and pressed his hand against Dean's throat, choking the full bred werewolf. "Your brother may be Genevieve's best friend and second heir to your alpha, but I won't fucking hesitate to kill the pup, who had ensured me multiple times that my mate would be safe with him. Now be a good big brother and let him know, if I see him anywhere near my mate I'll end his life on the spot."
Remy didn't wait for Dean's reply, as he moved up the stairs and into Genevieve's quite bedroom. He heart nearly fell to his stomach, when he saw what condition his mate was in. Genevieve was curled up on her bed, wires and IV's hooked to her body. A white bandage was wrapped around her head, covering the wound in the back. Remy could smell the anxiousness rolling off of her as she continued to sleep.
Remy walked closer to Genevieve, he sat on the edge of the bed, afterwards taking off his shoes. He pulled off his long sleeved shirt and placed it on the couch with his shoes. Remy pulled back the covers from the bed and gently slid in behind his mate. He pulled Genevieve back against his chest, careful not to wake her or mess up any of the wires.
A quite sigh escaped Remy's lips, as he kissed Genevieve's warm cheek. She was finally in his arms. Hurt and emotionally drained, but she was in his arms.
Minutes later Genevieve stirred in her sleep, her tired eyes landing on Remy's pale arms that were wrapped around her waist. Tears began to flow once again, as a onset of emotions rushed through Genevieve. She gripped his arms with trembling hands, wrapping them tighter around her.
"Shh, I'm here now baby." Remy kissed Genevieve's temple and held her close as she cried for him to do so.
He continued to hold her and whisper comforting words, slowly calming down his mate and lessening her worries. They spent the next few minutes like that. The only sound heard was the quite whispers coming from Remy and the beeping of Genevieve's heart monitor.
"Y-you'll love me no matter w-what?" Genevieve cried into his chest, after turning around in his arm.
Remy looked at her scared brown eyes, lifting her chin, he placed a gentle kiss on her slightly chapped lips. "Always."
Genevieve watched Remy, who gently wiped away her tears with his thumb. Her lips were trembling and her head was pounding. The mates stared into each others eyes, stormy grey ones staring back at dark brown ones with pure love.
"I ... IÂ need to t-tell you s-something ..." Â Genevieve placed her hand against his cold chest, to feel his heart beating slow and strong.
Remy rubbed her back soothingly as he patiently waited for Genevieve to elaborate.
Suddenly Remy reached over to grab a tissue from the night stand, as bright red blood dripped from Genevieve's nose.
Genevieve began to panic as the blood continued to flow from her nose nonstop. The first tissue was quickly soaked, as Remy hurried to get more. "Relax, I've got you."
The next few minutes flew by quickly. Remy rushed to get help when they both realized the nosebleed wasn't stopping anytime soon. Not long after calling the pack ambulance, Remy was on his way to the pack hospital with wheezing Genevieve on a gurney.
Genevieve had tears in her eyes that never seemed to stop flowing. The paramedic had placed a oxygen mask on Genevieve, afterwards quickly scanning over her chart.
"What's happening to her?" Remy demanded answers from the paramedics, as he led his mates hand.
The paramedic gave Genevieve a small shot that had instantly calmed her down. "Honestly, I'm not sure. I can't tell without an accurate CAT scan. But if I had to guess, Id say it has to be a problem with her sustained brain injury."
Remy squeezed Genevieve's hand, flashing her a lopsided smile that was meant to be comforting. He gently pushed her hair away from her sweaty forehead, and kissed the back of her hand. Genevieve's eyes were watery, but her breathing had calmed down. Remy seen the worry in her eyes as well as angst.
"Your her mate?" The paramedic asked, a knowing smile on his face.
"Yes." Remy answered, but didn't break eye contact with Genevieve.
"I'm going to need you to sign this consent form for the CAT scan." The paramedic handed Remy a single paper.
"A consent form for a CAT scan?" Remy looked over the paper, eyebrows raised.
"It's protocol if the patient is pregnant."
Remy shook his head as he continued to read the form. "Genevieve's not pregnant.
The paramedic glanced between Remy and Genevieve. "Actually she is. Her current HCG level indicates an early pregnancy."
Tears streamed down Genevieve's temples as she silently cried, after listening to the paramedic tell Remy about the baby.
Remy glanced at Genevieve for answers, his face emotionless. When he saw the fear in Genevieve's eyes, he knew that the paramedic was telling the truth. Remy was frozen for a second, before he removed the oxygen mask on Genevieve's face. He kissed her softly, afterwards putting the oxygen mask back on.
"Everything is going to be fine. We are going to be fine." Remy assured Genevieve, timidly placing his hand on Genevieve's lower stomach.
