Chapter 40

Sang Yunxie 1.10

Quick Transmigration: Beat The Female Lead System

When I woke up the next morning, I decided to get my Leanne mode on. Just because I was in the ancient times didn't mean that I forgot how to do business. Hell, people in the business world locked their money when they heard the name Leanne Snow.

If could deal with those angry, aggressive, dysfunctional men. I can deal with this sexist, power hungry nobles.

So I took my bath and went to my closet where Xin You was waiting with three outfits for me to choose from.

"Xin You, remember to oversee the plantations of the seeds in the green house, when you're done with the servants. Remember to follow my design to the letter," I said as I looked at the outfits.

"I understand, Mistress. Please don't worry, Xin You's gonna make sure everything goes as you planned, " she said with a confident smile.

"Good, this purple dress looks good," I said pointing at the dress to my right.

Random court member:

Lately the court has been kind of tense. The empress dowager has been ruling the country the last few years and although many people opposed her at the beginning. She made sure each and every one of them knew their place.

Unfortunately, a few months ago one of the prime ministers decided to used their secret weapon to take the title of empress for his daughter. Which made the empress dowager extremely angry.

So, she immediately decided to welcome beautiful women to the palace, to show the court that the new empress won't be the only woman in the palace and that ultimately she'll only be one of many wives.

But that clearly wasn't enough to calm her anger. She also gave the title of imperial noble consort to the first miss of the Sang household.

Although the Sang household don't involve themselves in politics, the common folk simply adores them. The master has fought for the country his entire life and has brought victory to the emperor in multiple occasions. While, the mistress a miraculous doctor who has save the lives of many people including the empress'.

In simple terms the first miss of the Sang household has powerful people backing her up (including the empress dowager) and it will very difficult for the soon to be empress to touch a hair on her head.

Making the atmosphere in the court very tense. Not to mention that the empress dowager said that she was gonna employ someone new as her right hand.

Although, it's not really a big deal for the empress to employ new people. All of the government officials need to be carefully selected to make sure they are qualified enough to serve the country. But, considering the empress dowager's mood the past few days no one dared to question her.

Well... that's what we all thought. Until we attended the court early in the morning.

When we got there all of us went to our assigned spots with  important documents we wanted to discuss with the empress dowager.

We all started discussing amongst each other as we waited for the empress to arrive. Now that I think about it some officials would've wish to be sick that day.

An eunuch loudly announced the presence of the empress dowager and get right hand.

We were all curious to see the fresh meat so, we strained our backs and looked towards the doors with a confident gaze.

Unfortunately, all we saw was the empress dowager in her glamorous red attires. As usual she was accompanied by a group of servants and guards that surrounded her like their lives depended it on it.

The only... unusual thing we saw was the person accompanying her.

The person was approximately a fourteen year old little girl. She was intricately dressed. With a long a purple skirt that displayed golden butterfly patterns. Her face was like a blooming lotus. With white and glowy skin that didn't portrayed  any blemishes. Her figure exuded a delicate charm that made you want to protect her.

Still we all knew that if she grew up, she was meant to cause trouble. In our history beautiful women were appreciated but extremely beautiful women were feared.

Maybe that was the reason why half of the court members were scared to know her identity. Even though they had an idea.

She walked in next to the empress dowager with a docile temperament. Looking beautiful and harmless.

----------------------------------

After I finished preparing, I walked out of my residence where the empress dowager was waiting for me with a sedan chair.

I graciously greeted her and we accompanied each other to court.

Once we got there I noticed court officials eyeing me with scrutinizing gazes.

I simply ignored them and followed the lead of the empress dowager who didn't seem to mind.

After that both of us sat on two thrones that were slightly below the emperor's. Once we sat the court officials simultaneously bowed greeting the empress dowager.

I didn't mind since I didn't know them and they didn't know me. So I just sat there with a gentle smile.

"Lately, aijia's been feeling a little under the weather and felt like she needed more help handling the court affairs. So she asked imperial consort Sang to be her trustee when it comes to court matters. When aijia's not here she will be in charge and when aijia's present she will be welcome to give her opinion. Any thoughts?" Said the empress dowager with a lazy behavior. Like she couldn't believe that she needed to explain this.

As soon as she asked for opinions the hall started bustling with complaints.

"Your majesty! This is simply absurd, you're putting a teenage girl in charge of the country!"

"I don't wanna be insolent but I also have to agree. Imagine what the people would say if they heard this," said another voice.

"Even if the people accepted, who are we to know that this girl knows what she's doing. She's probably only worried about jewelry and romance s..."

"Ahem," I faked a strong cough since I was simply tired of hearing them talk.  The empress dowager was reclining on her throne with a bored look.

I could see by her expression that she wasn't planning to do anything. She wanted to see how I handled this. Which I didn't even know myself.

"Many of your words are reasonable and sensible. However, as most of you know the emperor's absence has been very hard on all of us. Including the empress dowager. Even though I might look... inadequate for this role, you don't have a choice but to accept me. Things are already so tough for all of us without the emperor here for you to be fighting against a simple order from the one in charge," I said while covering half of my face with a paper fan and shaking my head.

All of them seemed to be startled when I subtlely implied that they were going against the empress dowager's wishes.

"Now, we need to act like civilized people so that we can at least get some work done round here," said the empress dowager noticing that the officials were calm enough.

"You're majesty, this person might be good with words. However, what would the people say if they knew their lives es at the hands of this little girl? The fact that she's here is questioning our entire con...."

"Right prime minister Shing! Don't you think you talked enough in a day?" Asked the empress dowager with a cold glare towards an older man dressed in green clothing who was talking since the beginning.

'Host, that's the cause to all your troubles. The father of the fl,' said Liam with a gossipy tone.

'My I've only been here a week and already met the father,' I said with a lamenting tone. Like God was forsaking me.

'Yes, go and kick his balls for being annoying,' david Liam. Encouraging me to cause trouble.

'I will baby, don't worry.'

As soon as the empress said those words the face of the man instantly reddened. I'm not sure if it was from anger or shame. But, it must have been one of those.

The people here care a lot about face or pride. So, being shut up by a woman in front of colleagues without being able to do anything. Can be pretty embarrassing.

"Mother empress, is okay. The people here have good reasons to oppose chenqie. The fact that they are doing it means that at least they care about the wellbeing of the citizens," I said calming the empress dowager and earning some brownie points with the officials as well.

Even though I really wanted to curse out some people around here. I simply couldn't, here men are the leaders. So, I needed to appear sensible and well behave. If I wanted them to listen to me without threatening their manhood.

The empress dowager took a deep breath when she heard my words and said, "Aijia knows. Listen well! It doesn't matter if you hate the decision. It's already been made and it's not gonna change. Well... not unless you have an imperial token that you want to throw at aijia's face," said the empress dowager while glaring at someone in particular.

Some officials secretly laughed at that someone and quickly kneeled saying that they wouldn't dare.
