The middle-aged woman said to Zhan Hanjue, “This is Bai Zhi, but you can’t see her. Just say hello.”

Zhan Hanjue turned toward the sound of footsteps and greeted her calmly. “How do you do?”

“You’re blind?” The voice was old and creaky.

However, her figure was graceful and youthful. She wore a cloak that wrapped most of her body and a fox mask that covered half her face.

“Yes,” Zhan Hanjue replied. “I was in a car accident when I was fifteen. I haven’t seen anything since.”

“Is it because of the car accident? The Zhan family is also a wealthy family. Didn’t they take you to a better hospital for treatment?”

“I’ve been to many hospitals, but it’s all useless. Two years ago, I heard that Doctor Bai Zhi’s medical skills are brilliant. I’ve been looking for you everywhere, but there was no news of you. Fortunately, my wife found out about you, so I had the chance to seek treatment.”

“I watched Ningxuan grow up,” Bai Zhi said slowly. “But I didn’t expect her to marry you. She must have told you that I require payment for treatment. This payment doesn’t have to be monetary. It can be anything. No matter what I want or request, you’ll agree?”

“Yes,” Zhan Hanjue replied without hesitation.

Bai Zhi thought to herself that he was so eager to seek treatment that he dared to agree to anything.

“Alright, I’ll ask two questions today. If your answers are satisfactory, I’ll treat you,” Bai Zhi said.

“Very well, Miracle Doctor, go ahead,” Zhan Hanjue said.

“That first question is about the accident fifteen years ago.”

“Why? Does the accident have something to do with the cure?” Zhan Hanjue asked.

Bai Zhi said, “It doesn’t matter, but an innocent victim of the car accident was an old friend of mine, so I want to know what happened.”

“I can get my assistant to gather all the information on the car accident. But since you’re old friends, why did you only ask about it today?”

“Ahem, what does it have to do with you?” Bai Zhi said unhappily. “You just have to answer my questions. You don’t have to know the rest. Are you asking me, or am I asking you?”

“You’re asking me, of course.”

“Then answer truthfully. I don’t need any information. I just want to hear it from you in person. A lot of things sound differently coming from different people. I want your opinion.”

“That day, my father and I were invited to a dinner party. The car drove onto the bridge and came face-to-face with a truck. The driver dodged the truck but didn’t expect to collide with a car on the right. The two cars fell into the pit together. My father, the driver, and a couple in the other car died instantly. Only I and a girl in the other car survived. That’s what happened that day.”

“But I heard that your aunt, Mrs. Leng, coveted the Zhan family’s assets, so she attacked you and your father. Is that true?” Bai Zhi asked again.

Zhan Hanjue said, “These things are just rumors. The Leng family is also a wealthy family. Madam Leng is my father’s biological sister. How could she do such a thing? If someone did it on purpose, I suspect that the couple in the other car offended someone. They shouldn’t have run into our driveway, but they suddenly crashed into us, causing two cars to fall into a deep pit. Therefore, at that time, their car must have suffered an accident that caused the car to lose control.”

Bai Zhi’s eyes widened. Was that so?

She thought back carefully, but she couldn’t remember what had happened. She frowned and clenched her fists, digging her nails into her flesh to calm herself.

“Miracle Doctor, I hope you won’t tell my wife, Ye Ningxuan, about this,” Zhan Hanjue pleaded.

“Why?” Bai Zhi was confused.

Zhan Hanjue sighed. “My wife, Ye Ningxuan, was the only girl who survived in the other car. She was young at that time and didn’t know about these things. If she knew that her parents might have been assasinated, she would definitely be very sad.”

“You care about her a lot.” Bai Zhi asked, “I know it was a coincident for you to marry her, but you two have been together day and night. Have you fallen for her?”

“Is that the second question?” Zhan Hanjue asked.

Bai Zhi replied, “Yes.”

“She is my wife and it is my duty to protect her,” Zhan Hanjue replied firmly.

Bai Zhi frowned. Did he like her or not?

“Miracle Doctor, I’ve already answered everything that needs to be answered. Can you start treating me?” Zhan Hanjue reminded her.

Bai Zhi coughed lightly. “Alright, I’ll take your pulse first. I still have to check your eyes.”

She stepped forward and first put her hand on Zhan Hanjue’s wrist. Then she made him close his eyes as she checked his eyeballs.

One of her hands was also disguised. She had deliberately worn fake skin that made her hand look as rough as an old woman’s hand.

After checking, he said in a low voice, “Your eyeball isn’t damaged, so it shouldn’t be difficult to heal. I’ll apply medicine for you first. Apply it over a period of time to see the effect. If it works, you can continue next time. Your eyes have been blind for many years, so it won’t heal overnight. You have to be patient.”

“I understand.” Zhan Hanjue nodded.

Bai Zhi gave the middle-aged woman a look and told Zhan Hanjue to lie on the back of the chair first. She applied a layer of ointment and put an eye patch on his eyes before letting him lie here and rest.

And she turned to the room on the left.

After a while, the curtain on the right moved and Ye Ningxuan walked out.

“Ye Ningxuan?” Zhan Hanjue called out, eyes closed.

Ye Ningxuan said, “It’s me. How is it? What did Divine Doctor Bai Zhi say?”

“You were next door, but you did not hear her?” Zhan Hanjue asked.

Ye Ningxuan said, “I was next door, but there’s a door inside. It’s closed, so I naturally can’t hear you. Did you have medicine applied? How do you feel?”

“It’s a little cool, but comfortable,” Zhan Hanjue replied.

Ye Ningxuan said, “That’s the right feeling. Put it on first. I’ll go in and talk to Bai Zhi about how to take care of you when we get home.”

With that, she headed for the room on the left.

After a while, two people walked out.

One was Ye Ningxuan, and the other was Bai Zhi, who was wearing a cloak and a mask.

Zhan Hanjue’s eyes were closed. All he could hear were their footsteps.

Then, Bai Zhi’s voice sounded, “I’ve already told your wife how to take care of you when you get home. When you get back, you have to listen to her arrangements. She was taught by me and has some medical skills. She can take good care of you.”

“Yes, Zhan Hanjue, I will take good care of you,” Ye Ningxuan immediately echoed.

Zhan Hanjue said, “I understand. Thank you, miracle doctor.”

After Bai Zhi finished speaking, Zhan Hanjue quickly heard footsteps entering the room on the left.
