Zhan Hanjue suddenly came over, scaring Ye Xuan until her face turned pale.

“Hehe, Mr. Zhan is here. I was just joking. I have a close relationship with Ningxuan. We’ve always been close.”

“Ye Xuan, did you take the wrong medicine?” Ye Ningxuan raised her eyebrows.

Why did this girl change her attitude so quickly?

“You really know how to joke. We’re sisters after all. You probably don’t know yet! Grandpa knows that you haven’t gone to university and your education level is low. He’s afraid that you’ll be mocked in Jiang City, so he specially arranged for you to study at Jiangzhou University. Find some free time to go home these two days. I’ll personally send you to school to report,” Ye Xuan said with a smile.

Ye Ningxuan frowned. They must have ulterior motives.

What was the Ye family trying to do again?

What were they up to?

“You want to go to school?” Zhan Hanjue asked quietly.

“I—”

Ye Ningxuan bit her lip.

“If you want to go to school, just tell me. There’s no need for outsiders to bother.” Zhan Hanjue put an arm around her shoulders and led her away.

Ye Xuan was speechless.

What did he mean?

She was an outsider?

After all, their surname was both Ye. How could she be an outsider?

“Dad, I met that wretched girl, Ye Ningxuan, today. She’s also in the hospital.”

“What? You met Ye Ningxuan? Then did you tell her that our family wants to send her to school? Did you ask her to come back when she’s free?” Ye Henghui quickly asked.

Ye Xuan said angrily, “Don’t mention it. I told her. In the end, that wretched girl didn’t take me seriously at all and mocked me. I really can’t figure out what’s so good about that girl. Zhan Hanjue’s so protective of her. Isn’t she just a little better-looking than others? Why does a blind person like him care about looks? Ye Xuan stomped her foot in anger.

She couldn’t understand why her grandfather suddenly wanted to express his goodwill to that wretched girl, Ye Ningxuan, and even asked her to invite her home.

“Did you do something to the Ye family?” Ye Ningxuan was brought back to the ward by Zhan Hanjue. She sat down and asked.

“Why do you ask?”

“When Ye Xuan saw me previously, she treated me like an enemy. Today, when you came over, her attitude immediately changed. Moreover, she even said that the Ye family helped me contact the school and asked me to go home. There’s no free lunch. After thinking about it, I really don’t have anything worth their effort. He rarely smiled.

Zhan Hanjue’s expression immediately darkened, and hbecame cold again.

Ye Ningxuan pursed her lips. He really couldn’t take a compliment.

“Will you be angry if I do something to the Ye family?” Zhan Hanjue asked.

Ye Ningxuan shrugged. “What does it have to do with me? You’ve seen how the Ye family treats me. Ever since I was young, they sent me to the countryside to fend for myself. They have no feelings for me at all. Last time, they even tried to kill me. How magnanimous do you think I am to be angry for them?”

“Not much, really, but I put a little pressure in terms of business. But, it’s not for your sake. I was in the car as well last time. I did it for myself,” Zhan Hanjue explained.

Ye Ningxuan thought, ‘You don’t have to explain yourself. I know you’re not doing this entirely for me.’

“But I owe you one. After all, you did me a favour.”

“I have good news for you. Bai Zhi has come to Jiang City. You don’t have to go back to the countryside with me to look for her. Tomorrow, I can arrange for you to meet her. However, you have to get me discharged first before I can take you to see her.”

“Why did she suddenly come to Jiang City?” Zhan Hanjue frowned.

Ye Ningxuan explained, “Doctor Bai Zhi’s whereabouts have always been uncertain. She goes wherever she wants and as for why she came to Jiang City, how would I know? Anyway, since she’s here, just go and see her. There’s no need to ask so much.”

“Chen Tan, go and handle the discharge procedures,” Zhan Hanjue instructed Chen Tan.

Special Assistant Chen nodded and immediately went to settle the discharge procedures for Ye Ningxuan.

However, after Ye Ningxuan returned home, she called Wu Taotao and Wu Wei and asked them to come to the Zhan family.

As they were Ye Ningxuan’s friend, Butler Wu invited them in very politely.

Ye Ningxuan received them in the small living room.

Wu Wei still didn’t treat her well because of her sudden marriage.

Ye Ningxuan couldn’t help but pat his shoulder. “Wu Wei, don’t be so petty. I just didn’t inform you about the wedding banquet. Why are you so upset? You look as if I owe you money.”

“Ye Ningxuan, you know it’s not about the wedding banquet,” Wu Wei said angrily.

Ye Ningxuan said, “Because nothing else is possible. I’ve always treated you like a brother, and you still want to sleep with me?”

Wu Wei was speechless.

His face flushed, and he felt angry but resigned.

With a sigh of exasperation, he found a place to crouch at the base of the wall.

Ye Ningxuan ignored him and said to Taotao, “I need your help with something.”

Seeing the two of them arguing, Wu Taotao quickly moved a stool and sat at the side with melon seeds to watch the commotion.

Now that Ye Ningxuan asked her for help, she immediately said, “Okay, no problem. What is it?”

“Zhan Hanjue has been looking for the divine doctor, Bai Zhi…”

“Divine Doctor Bai Zhi? Aren’t you…” Wu Taotao was surprised.

Ye Ningxuan said, “He doesn’t know. He needs Bai Zhi to treat his eyes, and I want to get some information from him. So, I hope you guys can help me put on a show.”

“He doesn’t even know who you are. Is it a lie that you married him?” Wu Wei finally perked up and came over from the corner.

Ye Ningxuan glared at him. “Whether it’s true or not has nothing to do with you. Aren’t you angry? Continue squatting at the base of the wall.”

“For such a big matter, you definitely need my help. How can Taotao do it all by herself?” Wu Wei said with a smile.

Wu Taotao kicked him angrily from behind. “Brother, you’re badmouthing me right in front of me. Are you looking for a beating?”

“Shh shh, stop talking. Someone’s coming.” Ye Ningxuan suddenly made a hissing gesture.

Sure enough, Butler Wu came over with fruits and snacks and said with a smile, “Old Madam knows that your friends came to visit. She wanted to come over and greet them, but she was afraid that you guys would be uncomfortable, so she asked me to tell you to keep your friends for dinner.”

“Thank Grandma for me,” Ye Ningxuan said with a smile.

After Butler Wu left, Wu Taotao immediately went up to Ye Ningxuan and said, “This old lady likes you.”

“Well, the old lady is nice,” said Yeh Ninh.

“Then can we really stay for dinner today?” Wu Taotao asked excitedly.

Ye Ningxuan frowned.

Wu Taotao hurriedly said, “I only realized how powerful the Zhan family is when I got here. With such a powerful family, the food will definitely be delicious. I want to broaden my horizons.”
