I Quit Mr. Shaffer ( Isabella Symons ) Chapter 155
I Quit, Mr. Shaffer ( Isabella Symons )
Chapter 155
Lara caused a scene late at night in order to make Spencer suspect Sethâs
involvement in the matter. However, she underestimated Sethâs importance
to Spencer. With just a few words, Seth was able to corner her.
âItâs not safe for you to stay in the country anymore,â Seth declared firmly,
leaving no room for negotiation.
âWhat?â Christina turned to Spencer in disbelief. âSpencer, how can Lara stay
abroad on her own?â
Seth didnât take Christina seriously and found her annoying to listen to.
Instead of engaging with her, he left the decision to Spencer.
Spencer looked at Christina with narrowed eyes and said seriously, âDidnât it
occur to you that it wasnât safe for Lara to go adventuring in Peru?â
Lara felt her hope drain away. Spencerâs question was as good as agreeing
with Sethâs suggestion.

âStay abroad until the storm blows over,â Spencer decided. He leaned on his
walking stick and gave Lara a warning glance, saying, âFollow the rules even
when youâre away. Iâll send someone to keep an eye on you. Donât go out
unnecessarily and prioritize your safety.â
Lara lost all hope. Although Spencer seemed concerned about her safety, he
was actually putting her under house arrest, afraid that she would cause
trouble outside.
Despite seeing her distress, Spencer didnât seem to care. He scanned the
room and issued a warning to everyone, âShaffer Group is making rapid
progress, thanks to the efforts of every generation. Anyone who doesnât
appreciate this and causes trouble will be dealt with.â With that, he stood up
from the couch.
Christina wanted to help him up, but he had already stood. He pointed at
Seth and ordered, âCome upstairs with me.â
Quietly, Seth glanced at the wall clock, an odd look flashing in his eyes.
Nevertheless, he followed Spencer upstairs.

Christina still wanted to help Spencer up the stairs, but he snapped, âWhy are
you following me instead of checking on Lara?â Despite their years of
marriage, he showed no courtesy when speaking to her.
Seth saw Christinaâs face stiffen under his icy gaze, but he felt nothing for her.
This was the path she had chosen for herself. No matter how difficult it
became, she had to walk it alone, especially since she was always causing
problems.
âDid you see it?â A few seconds after Christina went downstairs, Spencer
turned around and said while walking, âFind yourself a virtuous wife. Even if
sheâs not, she should come from a similar background. Otherwise, when you
grow older, youâll be ridiculed by your children and grandchildren.â
Walking behind him, Seth sensed something in his words and replied calmly,
âI donât find anything ridiculous about you, Grandpa.â
Spencer snorted but wasnât really angry. At the end of the corridor, he
stopped. âI heard you changed your secretary.â
A light flashed in Sethâs eyes, and he became guarded. However, he

appeared unaffected on the surface. âItâs been five years. Time for a change
of personnel.â
With an unreadable look in his eyes, Spencer glanced at him. Without making
anything clear, he said casually, âMake sure you pay them well. Theyâve
worked hard for five years. Donât delay things and hurt their feelings.â
Seth didnât say a word but could already guess what Spencer would say next.
âYouâre not getting any younger.â
There it was. This was why he asked Seth to come back today. âI donât plan to
get married for the time being,â Seth said honestly, so Spencer wouldnât keep
dropping hints.
Sulking, Spencer looked doubtful and turned his face to stare at Seth. âYou
have no plans to get married, or you donât plan to marry a lady from a
notable family?â
Men understood each other best, and Spencer was once a young man. Even
without clarifying, they could read each otherâs minds.

Seth thought it over and understood what Spencer was hinting at. âDo you
want me to marry someone from the Legard Family?â

Sabrina Legardâs parents had previously suggested this to the Shaffers.
However, Sabrina was secretly dating someone else, and Seth had declined
the suggestion because they were childhood friends.
âSabrina is a nice girl,â Spencer indirectly pointed out.
Seth didnât argue and replied calmly, âI donât plan to marry Cinderella, nor do I
plan to marry a cold-hearted person to spend the rest of my life with. At
leastâ¦â He stopped mid-sentence.
Spencer raised an eyebrow. âAt least what?â
âAt least I want a relationship like my parents had.â
His words echoed through the corridor, and they both fell silent. Instantly,
Spencerâs face fell, and annoyance flashed in his eyes. Facing the window, he
said, âIf youâd rather be like them, you might as well stay single for the rest of
