Chapter 834 – To Find a Scapegoat

Jesse’s sudden speech startled Vergil so much that he nearly rolled out of his chair.

“Mr. Pascall, you scared me!”

“What are you afraid of if you don’t do anything wrong?” Jesse raised an eyebrow, it was a good thing he woke up early or he wouldn’t have heard these heartfelt words from his subordinate.

“I didn’t do anything wrong!” Hadn’t he just complimented Jesse?

Nydia laughed so hard that she told Vergil to hurry out, Jesse’s look meant nothing was wrong.

Vergil hurriedly slipped away.

“When did you wake up?”

“Right about the time he called me venomous and grumpy.”

“Look at you being petty, didn’t they repress it before they raised it? Said you were still nice.”

Jesse snorted lightly, clearly not taking it well.

This long-lost arrogance was something Nydia missed.

“Better yet?”

“Much better.”

Nydia pulled the needle off and put it away, but she heard Jesse say, “Actually, I think Vergil’s words are a bit reasonable, it’s too dangerous for you to stay with me, I’ll send you to a hidden place, you’ll give birth to the baby and recuperate well, and then go over to you after I’ve taken care of things.”

It was too much for this dog of a man to have such thoughts.

“Do you give up?” Jesse hugged Nydia from behind, “I was wrong, I just got sidetracked for a second.”

“Well, it’s good to learn from your mistakes!”

The two joked around a bit to liven things up and then had to face Rosalind again.

Nydia stayed out all day the next day while waiting for news.

“Jesse, mom seems scared, we can’t let anything happen to her.” This was Jesse’s mother, no matter what nothing could happen to her or he would blame himself and feel guilty for the rest of his life.

“Don’t let Dad see this video for now.” Jesse knew Andrew wouldn’t be able to handle it if he saw it.

Nydia replied, [I’ll find a way to get out, don’t hurt her or you won’t get me]

“Are you finally done pretending to be confused?
