Chapter 75
Reborn Before The Divorce
âWhat acting?â He asked knowingly.
âWhen you helped Willette accuse me, I was wondering why you were helping Willette, Jesse. I couldnât see it at first, but your acting was really good. But I caught on and went along with you,â Nydia said.
âSmartass,â Jesse said only that, but his tone was strange. It didnât sound like a cold accusation, but rather like his bluff had been called by Nydia.
Nydiaâs expression changed instantly.
âWasnât it all an act? Were you really helping Willette? So⦠do you still have feelings for her? Did you want to divorce me to marry her? When you said Barclay and you werenât brothers-in-law yet, was that just to prepare for you and Willette in the future?â
She said these things with tears in her eyes, staring at Jesse with a look of suppressed sadness and hurt, which only made her more pitiable.
âWhat nonsense are you talking about?â Jesseâs brow furrowed even more.
âYou said I was a smartass, didnât you?â Nydia was even more aggrieved, clutching the armrests of the wheelchair and lowering her eyes, looking like rabbit about to be abandoned.
âIf I want to be with Willette, whatâs it to you?â Jesseâs tone was impatient.
âOh, I see. So you like me,â Nydia said, raising her head to reveal a pair of eyes full of laughter. Her almond-shaped eyes reflected his face, which looked particularly bright, and even his expression wasnât so gloomy anymore.
In that instant, he felt dazzled, but he didnât want to look away.
She seemed to notice the laughter in her eyes growing even more pronounced.
âNydia, your acting is really good,â Jesse said, his face cold.
ââ¦â Isnât your acting better?
Nydia suddenly stood up, her hands spread apart on the armrests of the wheelchair, approaching him.
Jesse was trapped in the wheelchair with no room to retreat.
Their lips were only one centimeter apart, the hot air they exhaled mingling together. If she leaned forward just more, she could touch Jesseâs lips.
But Nydia turned her head, approaching his ear, her soft lips touching his earlobe. He had already reached out to grab Nydiaâs waist, but it was too late.
At the moment when his ear bone was pressed, it felt as if a strong electric current ran through his whole body. He heard a clear voice in his ear, âJesse, tit for tat.â She retreated, looked back with a smile, charming and enchanting, like demon who wanted to wreak havoc in the world. Jesseâs heartbeat was pounding wildly as if he had just realized something, like thunder.
Nydia went back to her bedroom and lay down on the bed, feeling completely drained of energy. She was really in pain, just lying there was already painful, let alone moving. When Jesse pinched her waist earlier, she looked down and saw that it was red. It would probably turn bruise soon.
She didnât really understand what Jesse had done today, but she was too lazy to guess. This man was too difficult to figure out. She had planned to check the news and arrange the things she needed to do next, but she fell asleep while looking at them.
Molly and Tavish were surprised when they came back from school and didnât see Nydia. âEmma, whereâs mommy?â Molly asked.
âSheâs resting in her room. Donât go bother her now. Call her when itâs time for dinner,â Emma replied.
Although Molly and Tavish didnât know what Nydia had experienced yesterday, they knew it must not have been a good thing, so they didnât want to disturb her.
When it was time for dinner, Molly went in to call her, but no matter how many times she called, Nydia didnât wake up. She reached out her hand and touched Nydiaâs face, and was startled. âDaddy, daddy, mommyâs so hot!â
