Chapter 338 Poisonous Tongue as Always
Reborn Before The Divorce
For Barclay, 30 million was like a lifeline. When he tried to get a loan from the bank, they refused due to the negative news surrounding him. His previous friends were unwilling to lend him money. He even asked Willette and Cade to help, but Cade mentioned that the Malone Group suffered significant losses during the previous rainstorm and did not have enough liquidity.
Nydia could have been their best bet to get the money, but with Jesse behind her, they had no choice but to go through him.
âWhat are the conditions?â Barclay asked, thinking that they could deal with the problem first and worry about the consequences later.
âMortgage your company to me,â Jesse said.
As soon as Jesse finished speaking, Barclay, Willette, and Cadeâs faces all changed.
âWhat? Thatâs impossible!â Barclay refused outright.
âJesse, youâre going too far!â Cade spoke up.
âRelax, I just want some security. As long as you pay back the 30 million, there wonât be any problems. I believe Mr. Evans has the ability to do so.â
âIf you believe in my ability, why do you need a mortgage?â Barclay questioned, visibly angry.
âIf I didnât believe in your ability, I wouldnât lend you the 30 million.â
Nydia and Willette remained quiet. In this situation, they had no say and could only listen quietly.
âJesse, I donât think a mortgage is necessary. Barclay will definitely pay you back the 30 million. You and Barclay are brothers-in-law, and when one is in trouble, the other should help. If you encounter difficulties in the future, Barclay will help you,â Cade said.
Cade did not want to see Barclayâs company mortgaged to Jesse. Jesse already had a significant amount of wealth in his hands, and if he were to obtain Barclayâs company as well, it could spell disaster.
âIf he can pay me back, why are you afraid of mortgaging the company?â Jesse sneered. âMr. Pascalln, I am a businessman, not a philanthropist.â
His words left them speechless.
Nydia secretly gave Jesse a thumbs up. When it came to intimidating people, Jesseâs poisonous tongue was as sharp as ever.
âYou guys can discuss it amongst yourselves,â Cade decided not to get involved.
Of course, Barclay did not want to mortgage his company to Jesse. He had a feeling that Jesse was deliberately trying to set a trap for him. If he mortgaged his company, there was a high chance that it would no longer belong to him.
âIâll think about it,â Barclay said.
âOkay, think about it. But it would be best if you gave me an answer tomorrow. After all, I canât just hold onto 30 million and do nothing,â Jesse said, putting pressure on Barclay.
His words unintentionally put a lot of pressure on Barclay. Barclay agreed to give an answer as soon as possible.
âSince weâre all here, letâs have a meal together. Itâs been a long time since weâve eaten together,â Cade suggested.
Jesse had no objections, but Barclay didnât want to eat. He had a lot of things to take care of.
In the end, Jesse and Nydia accompanied Cade for a meal.
âThereâs something I donât know if I should say,â Nydia hesitated.
âWhat is there that you shouldnât say? Iâve always treated you as my own daughter, so donât be so restrained!â Cade smiled at Nydia and said, âSpeak up, donât be afraid.â
âI suspect that Barclay hit my sister. Last time I saw my sister, she had injuries on her face, and she said she hit herself.â
Cadeâs face immediately became unsightly, and he frowned. âYour sister said she hit herself?â
âYes, Iâm worried that my sister was beaten, but he said a few good words and she was appeased. Iâm worried. You should pay more attention to my sister.â
âOkay, I know. You should spend more time with your sister when you have the chance. Sheâs been having a hard time recently, and nobody believes her. As her family, we should believe in her. Sheâs pregnant now and canât be stressed.â
âI will, donât worry.â
Nydia sneered in her heart. She always talked about being pregnant, and she always talked about treating her like her own daughter. Wasnât it just to get her to spend money?
That money was exchanged for her parentsâ lives, and she wouldnât let the Malone family touch a penny of it.
Jesse didnât say much, but Cade still brought up the topic about Jesse.
âJesse, did your company get affected by the storm this time?â
âWell, it was affected, but the losses werenât too severe.â
âNo wonder you could still donate 20 million in goods. If Malone Group wasnât hit hard, I would donate some. But now I really canât do much, or else I wouldnât make it difficult for Barclay.â
Cadeâs implication was very strong, nothing more than looking at the benefits that would come from the donation. After all, donating 20 million wouldnât just bring back 20 million.
âUncle, how about we donate clothes? There are a lot of clothes in the inventory, right? Itâs cold now, and the clothes must have been soaked by the heavy rain. We can donate some clothes,â Nydia suggested.
Cadeâs face showed a hint of awkwardness, but he nodded at Nydia. âYouâre right. We can donate clothes. Iâll have someone organize our inventory when we get back.â
âMr. Pascalln and Mr. Pascall, youâre eating here?â
âTaylor, what brings you here?â Cade was surprised to see Taylor eating here with a man.
âThe client wanted to try this dish, so I brought him here. I didnât expect to run into you guys. Let me pay for this meal.â Taylor smiled gracefully.
âHow can I let you pay for me to eat?!â
âItâs my pleasure to treat the chairman. Or are you not giving me this opportunity?â
âAlright, keep up the good work! Our company is counting on you designers.â
After chatting for a bit, Taylor left. Nydia watched her figure thoughtfully, feeling that Taylor had become quite noticeable lately.
After finishing the meal, Jesse was leaving the company, and Nydia went to see him off.
âWhy do I feel like Barclay wonât agree?â Nydia thought back to Barclayâs expression, and she didnât think he would agree.
âIsnât that what you want?â
âWhat are you planning?â Nydia was a bit confused.
Before, when Jesse was so confident, she thought Barclay would definitely agree. But seeing Jesseâs attitude now, she felt like he knew Barclay wouldnât agree.
âGuess.â
ââ¦â Nydia felt like slapping him.
Why did she feel like Jesse was becoming more and more insidious?
Nydia didnât continue to chat with Jesse and went back to work. But before she could sit at her desk, she was called over by Willette.
âNydia, what do you mean? Are you wishing for my death?â Willette said directly as soon as Nydia entered the office.
âSis, whatâs going on?â
âIf you donât want to lend me money, donât let Jesse come and humiliate us. Whatâs the point?â
âBut I donât have any money. I can only ask him. Didnât he say he would lend it as long as we mortgaged the company? Whatâs there to be afraid of if Barclay can repay it?â
âAre you stupid? Who is Jesse? Once we mortgage it to him, can he repay Barclay? Do you think everyone is as stupid as you?â
