Chapter 336 Jesse and Nydia Make a Bet
Reborn Before The Divorce
Nydia exclaimed and covered her mouth, âTwenty million? Sis, are you joking?â
âDo you not even have twenty million? What have you been doing all these years?â Willette said, her tone tinged with reproach.
âYou know what Iâve been doing, sister. Are you having trouble with something? Did you use up all your savings?â
âNever mind that. If you donât have it, borrow it from Jesse. Let him lend you twenty million first.â
âHow could he lend it to me? We barely even talk now.â
âSo youâre not going to help me then?â Willetteâs face darkened. âNow that Barclay is in trouble and needs money, Iâve already put in all my money and itâs still not enough. Thatâs why I came to ask you. Otherwise, I wouldnât have come to you. Iâm pregnant now. Do you want the baby to be born without a father, or do you want me to lose the baby in misery and sorrow?â
Nydia bit her lip. âOkay, Iâll think of a way. Donât cry, sister. Crying too much is not good for the baby.â
âReally? Youâre willing to think of a way? Nydia, I knew you were the best. You have to get twenty million as soon as possible!â Willette broke down in tears and hugged Nydia tightly.
Nydia could only nod and then left her sisterâs office.
âNydia, do you have time at noon? Do you remember the doctor from that pharmacy?â
âI remember, why?â
âI ran into her yesterday, and she asked if you could come to the pharmacy.â
âOkay.â
During lunch break, Nydia went to the pharmacy with Maddie.
It turned out that the doctor had encountered a difficult problem and wanted to discuss it with Nydia. The other doctors thought she was crazy to seek advice from a woman who had only met her once and had only dispensed a few prescriptions, and who wasnât even a real doctor.
âHis gout is quite severe, and it keeps recurring.â
âI see.â
After looking at the patient for a while, Nydia figured it out. âItâs not difficult, just avoid certain foods, but he obviously canât do that and can only suffer.â
The patientâs face suddenly turned awkward. He really couldnât avoid certain foods, as it made him feel uncomfortable all over.
âIf you can stick to avoiding certain foods for six months, I can cure your gout.â
âReally?â
âBut if you say youâre avoiding them when youâre not, then thereâs nothing I can do.â
âIf you can really cure me, Iâll definitely be careful what I eat for six months. If Iâm lying, may thunder strike me down!â
âIâll talk to this doctor first,â Nydia said.
Nydia and the doctor discussed for more than ten minutes and came up with a treatment plan. The doctor watched as Nydia administered the treatment using the silver needles from the shop, which proved to be effective.
After a few needles, the patientâs pain subsided, and he felt like he had encountered a miracle doctor.
Nydia taught the method to the doctor, who was grateful.
âThe medicine you used is a bit unconventional, but upon further reflection, it does have this effect.â
âItâs because you trusted me.â
âAre you interested in working here?â
Nydia shook her head. âIâm too busy, but you can leave me your contact information. If you encounter any difficult medical cases, you can contact me.â
âOkay.â
After exchanging contact information, Nydia left. Maddie looked at Nydia with even greater admiration.
After work, Nydia returned home, with Jesse arriving shortly after.
Recently, Molly and Tavish were happy because their parents stopped quarreling.
âWillette asked me for twenty million today, and I told her Iâll figure something out.â
âDo you have twenty million?â Jesse asked.
âNo, I donated five million previously, and I donât have much liquidity at the moment.â
âDo you dare to promise her then?â Jesse began to mock her again.
Nydia felt that the medicine she had given Jesse was working well. His recent mood had been good, and he only mocked her without getting angry. She felt a bit strange about it.
âIâm back to ask for your opinion. I thought you would have some ideas.â
âIs that so? What do you think I would suggest?â
Nydia glanced at him, guessing his thoughts, but decided to remain calm. She didnât believe that Jesse would miss such a good opportunity.
âI donât know. If you donât have any ideas, Iâll turn her down and say that you took all my money, and I donât have any.â
âNydia, you have no shame!â
âWhatâs the use of having shame? People like Willette and Barclay, who have no shame, are doing well. Those who have a thin skin and a sense of shame end up being victimized!â
After speaking, she looked up at Jesse. âYouâre not still suspecting that Iâm siding with Willette and Barclay, are you?â
âNo.â
âI just wanted to see if youâve become smarter.â
Nydia snorted.
She didnât want to appear too smart in front of him, or he would become more suspicious of her. Jesse finally spoke up when he noticed her silence.
âWe can lend them twenty million or even more.â
âUnder what conditions?â
âLet Barclay use the company as collateral.â
Nydia suppressed the curvature of her lips, trying not to let her amusement show too much. Jesseâs words were exactly what she had in mind, but she wanted him to say it out loud, and she had to pretend to be surprised. âWill they agree to it? Pledging the company for twenty million? Are they crazy?â
âWanna bet?â
â⦠Do father and daughter both like to gamble?â
The bet was meaningless, and she didnât want to do it, but she was curious about what Jesseâs stake was. âOkay, letâs bet.â
âIf Barclay is willing to use the company as collateral, you wash my feet for a month.â
ââ¦â Jesse, canât you have some dignity?
âOtherwise, Iâll wash your feet for a month.â
âNo, if I win, weâll share a bed for a month.â She didnât want to run around and worry about being discovered.
Jesseâs eyebrows twitched slightly. He probably didnât expect Nydia to make such a request and was momentarily stunned. Although Nydia knew she was unlikely to win, what if she did?
âIâll go to the Malone Group tomorrow and ask Willette to bring Barclay over. Weâll talk at the Malone Group.â Jesse suppressed his doubts and said.
âOkay.â
âI took you to see a psychiatrist when you werenât sober before. Itâs been a while since then. Do you want to go see one again?â
Nydia asked tentatively, wanting to see if Jesse would get angry.
His recent mood had really stabilized a lot, which made her think that her medicine was working, but she wasnât sure, so it would be better to check again.
Jesse, surprisingly, agreed. âLetâs find some time to go.â
Nydia breathed a sigh of relief.
She thought that once her leg was better and her mental illness was cured, she would have repaid him for most of what she owed him. Although she couldnât fully repay him, it would make her feel much better.
The next day, she went to Willette and said that she could lend her twenty million.
âNydia, I knew you could do it! You are my lucky star!â Willette hugged Nydia excitedly.
âBut⦠Jesse is coming over today to talk to you about this.â
âWhat? Heâs coming to talk to us about what?â Willette was stunned.
