Chapter 13

Fact no.12: Unfuckable should be a word in the dictionary

and we hated

APRIL

Different from yesterday, as I walk inside of the house today after my run, everybody is already in the kitchen. Kai and Cami are cooking something, kissing every second along the process. Dia is sitting at the table, headphones on her ears, looking at the phone in her hands and smiling at it. I knew the smile too well. The smile she only has when she talks to Leo. The only reason I'm not killing Leo on spot.

Coin is sitting across from her, also staring at his phone. He seems to smirk a bit. From how he's typing and then waiting for an answer, I know he's texting with someone. However, the moment I enter in the room, he ditches his talk with the mystery person and focuses on me.

Our conversation from last night flashes through my head.

Then the rage.

I clench my fist together and turn to the others.

I first go hug Dia from behind, who hadn't noticed me yet. She yelps at first, then, as she recognizes me, she wraps her arms around me in return.

"Morning", I tell her, as she removes her headphones.

"Good morning! How was your run?", she asks, smiling bright. It's clear she's been talking to Leo.

"Amazing. How's Leo?", I ask her back. Dia grins at me, almost wanting to ask how I knew it was him. She then notices the smile on her lips. And decides not to ask.

Although I've never said it to her, she knows I'm not Leo's number one fan and that I think she deserves so much more than him. I guess it's a bit of my fault too, for her knowing it. When talking about Alec and Caden, Soph and Nini's boyfriends, I always call them my brothers-in-law. But never when talking about Leo. Not to mention Mark, person I hate for breaking Nessie's heart.

"He's good", it's all Dia says. I don't ask any further questions.

I let her talk some more to her boyfriend and walk to Kai and Cami, to greet them too.

"Good morning", I say, in a singing tone. "How's the happy couple?"

"Perfect", Cami answers for the both of them, smiling at me. I smile at her in return.

"This smells amazing, what are you making?", I ask.

"Some Spanish omelette", Kai answers. Cami continues: "It should be ready any moment now, you can take a sit at the table."

I nod at them thankfully and go sit down on the chair next to my bestie. Then I start talking to her again, not even acknowledging Coin, sitting in front of me.

He notices it and clears his throat. "Good morning to you too, precious", he lets out sarcastically. "How are you feeling?"

"Un-fuck-able", I let out, my voice confident.

Dia chokes on the nothing in her throat. Kai and Cami freeze in place and share a look. Coin also seems to have tensed. He only stares at me. I hold his gaze.

To break the uncomfortable silence in the room, Cami brings us some plates with food. I give her a thankful smile and start digging in my food. Which tastes delicious.

Kai and Cami join us, bringing some plates for themselves.

We eat in silence again, no one daring to speak again after my comment.

Coin is the one who speaks first, looking straight at me and Dia: "Sofia and Nini send greetings."

I haven't been prepared for that. Like I literally thought he would say anything but that.

I swear, if he hit on my besties, I will-

"Caden texted us on the group chat", he explains, as if he could read my thoughts. Hurt flickers in his eyes.

I feel guilty for one second. Guilty for accusing him of hitting on my best friends. But then I remember last night. And his reputation. And what went down between us. And feel every right to have my doubts.

"I would never", Coin continues, as if reading my mind. "It's rule number one."

Dia and I share a look, knowing damn well about this rule number one. Kai also nods knowingly. Cami only looks confused at us, then asks: "What rule number one?"

"Coin is part of the Fab Five at our university", Dia begins explaining. "It's the group of the university's most...", she wants to continue, but doesn't know how to put it.

"Hottest guys", I end for her, still holding his gaze. "It's a bit too much if you ask me and Coin clearly doesn't deserve his place there." A lie. For he deserves his place in the Fab Five. There's a reason they were called Fab. Coin brought that reason to life. His features are so perfect, I sometimes ask myself if he is really real and not sculpted. His personality has to give, but he has to looks. "They are the ones the girls fall for. The five of them are friends."

Coin mutters something that sounded a lot like: "Ever since you made us spend every damn day together." I can't stop but smirk. We did. Me and my besties did that. It would have been hard not to. Caden and Alec are part of the Fab Five. So are their best friends. Jacob Grant, captain of the volleyball team, Caden's best friend. And Adam Cunnan, CEO of a security company and Alec's best friend. The fifth member of the Fab Five is Coin. So, it's kinda hard not to invite them all when we're going on trips or day-outs. They luckily always accept and I can call them all my friends. Apart from Coin. Coin and I are not friends.

"What did Caden say about Soph and Nini?", Dia asks Coin.

"That they say hello to you. And that they miss you. And wish to see you asap. You know, girly shit", Coin answers. Dia looks embarrassed at the ground, embarrassed she opened her mouth to ask something. Coin should be the embarrassed one that he doesn't have the common sense to answer a question like a normal freaking person. I glare at him. He only shows me the middle finger.

"We'll call them later", I tell Dia, if only to see her smile again. Coin is an asshole. He can rot in hell. I wouldn't mind.

Dia smiles at me and nods, her headphones already back on. I give Coin another glare.

Cami, who has been trying to act polite this whole time, looks at us and says: "Well, I'd love to meet your friends one day."

I nod at her smiling. She smiles in return and takes a deep breath, to say the next thing: "So, what are the plans for the day?"

"Until now, none", I answer sincere. We really have zero plans for the day so far.

"If you don't mind me saying...", Cami begins but is interrupted by Kai.

"We don't mind you saying anything, sweetie", my brother says. "You're as much part of this family as anyone here is. You can say whatever you want."

I look at him surprised to hear him speak so filled with love. Coin also raises an eyebrow at him. Dia is blushing. She loves it when people are in love.

Cami smiles at Kai and gives him a kiss. Then, she continues: "There is a party hosted by one of the companies I work with later on. I've got two tickets for Kai and me, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I bring a few extra plus-ones. You are all invited. Would you like to come?"

I give Cami a thankful smile and turn to look at Dia. I wouldn't mind going to a party, but I know she doesn't exactly enjoy those. Too many people. Too much going on. I silently ask her with my eyes if she would like to come. She seems to think about it, her nose squinting. She then nods. And I hardly stop a cheer as I turn to Cami and say: "Dia and I would love to come."

Cami yelps, full time yelps, and comes hug us. "You'll love it", she adds. She then turns to Coin, who still seemed to be thinking about it. Kai offers him a glare. Coin shows his best friend the middle finger, then adds to Cami: "You know what? Fuck it. I'll come too."

Cami cheers now and immediately takes out her phone to text someone. "I'm asking Glamour right now for your invites. I'll then text you all the details and so on."

I know Glamour. It is a very important cosmetics company, mostly offering makeup for women. Cami must know them from her modelling work.

I thank her again and stand up, wanting to go for a swim before getting ready for the party. Dia quickly joins me, and we both head out to the sea.

I keep wondering if it was a good decision to attend this party. I mean, apart from my friends, I know no one there. I am a party girl. I know I am. Back at Wrencore, there is no party I skip. Frat parties, parties after a win of the football team...I go to them all. I love the thrill. The feeling of loud music going through my bones. The laughter with my friends and the occasional drinks. But here...I am not sure what to expect. And Coin will be there...

"Everything alright?", Dia asks me, water splashed all over my face.

"Yeah, I'm fine", I lie. "Did you just splash me?", I ask her, trying to sound offended. I guess it worked, since she looks at the ground.

"I mean, you were not answering when I called you the first time..", she tries to explain.

"Mhm", I tease her. She only continues explaining.

"And I got worried."

"I understand", I tell her, her shoulders relaxing and her eyes finally meeting mine again. But, I also plan on continuing my tease: "I'll show you what you get from splashing me."

I splash her back, Dia shouting at the water touching her skin. She grins and send a wave towards me with her hands, by hitting the water hard once. I yelp and start running after her, while she tries to escape.

We spend the next hours running in the water, me trying to get my mind off the upcoming party.

I just hope I'll make it out alive.
