Chapter 4176 A Small Game
Divine Emperor of Death
Chapter 4176 A Small Game
"No."
Fairy Runalise flatly refused without a hint of hesitation. Her gaze became even more condescending.
"Haha." Davis chuckled, "Don't be like that. Do you see this coin?"
He displayed the coin which had the face of a handsome man with a rather peculiar smirk. It appeared more funny than solemn or full of dignity.
"It has the history of my Loret Family behind it. Although I now have established the Davis Family, it is hard to forget one's roots. This one here has the face of my ancestor I have never seen and one of its purple coins. By the way, a purple coin is like the highest mortal currency, but this one is special. It is specially minted and harder to obtain. It is more like a limited item. I thought there would be some use for it when I was a child, but I couldn't find any, so I guessed it would be if it could at least determine the fate of a high and above Heaven's Warrior."
"So- what do you say? Would you be willing to play this game?" Davis asked again.
"..."
This time, Fairy Runalise remained silent. It seemed like she didn't want to communicate anymore as she lowered her head.
But after ten whole seconds, she finally raised her head, her white eyes flashing.
"I don't wish to leave upon winning. Instead, you must kill me with your own hands."
"Oh?" Davis raised his brows.
Myria and the others also looked astonished by her desire. Many would wish to leave and survive, but she was determined to fulfill her mission.
"You wish to invoke the Covenant? That's fine with me."
Davis chuckled before he shook his head, "However, we can't just play a game with a big stake in the first round. Where's the fun in that?"
Fairy Runalise harrumphed lightly, "I don't need to have fun when playing with an Anarchic Divergent like you. Let's just get it over with."
"Are you afraid that you would lose in an instant?" Davis smirked.
"I could say the same thing to you."
"Yes, I'm afraid." Davis went stiff before he looked as though he suddenly realized, "Wait a minute. Are you afraid that I will ask you something intimate at every turn?"
"Such silly provocations." Fairy Runalise's lips curled in derision, "It is obvious that I'm not playing any intimate games with you."
Davis looked away with disgust and waved his hand at her, "You stink of the heavens. I don't want you."
"As it should be. An unholy union would never come to be."
Fairy Runalise grinned, but for some reason, she gnashed her teeth as though holding something back. Nevertheless, her focus was on ending him. It didn't matter if she played one game or many games as long as she could end him. That alone would've rectified all the dishonor she experienced here.
"Alright, let's start. What is your first request, anything other than wanting me to kill you?"
"..." @@novelbin@@
Fairy Runalise's expression remained cold. She glared at him but seemed to be thinking of something before she finally opened her mouth.
"Release senior Yubin without harming him in any way."
"This guy?"
"...?" Fairy Runalise raised her head and stared at him, "What do you mean? As a Heaven's Warrior, it is my life's mission to kill Divergents. You're the one who's going overboard right now."
"Surely," Davis scoffed, "I'm not the only Divergent to exist. I heard hundreds were popping up a millennium across the Celestial Transcendent Galaxy. Why don't you go hunt them and leave me and my family alone? I'm doing you a favor by releasing you after you attacked me. Are Heaven's Warriors an ungrateful bunch?"
"You're the ungrateful being!" Fairy Runalise looked pissed as she moved and caused the chains to rattle, "Your very existence is a sin that goes against the heavens. Who told you to steal heavenly lightning, heavenly flames, and even heavenly wind? There must be other endless secrets and sins that we don't know about, but the heavens do. Instead of being a good child, who told you to be ungrateful?"
"..." Davis went speechless, unable to retort.
It was true he stole from the heavens.
"It's not like I stole from your father. Why are you angry? If the heavens want to harm me, then it must pay a price. If you want to harm me, then you must pay a price. If anyone wants to harm me, then they must pay a price, whether it be their life or their valuables. It's common sense for the instigator to suffer consequences."
"You-" Fairy Runalise looked stumped. Eventually, she looked away.
"I don't want to argue. Let's just play the game. I accept your request." Her voice was filled with reluctance, seemingly having no other choice.
"Alright." Davis took out the purple coin again.
"It better be just a coin toss. If you cheat, I retain the right to deny or change the request."
"Sure." Davis chuckled, "Name your choice when the coin reaches the highest point."
"..."
It made Fairy Runalise a bit taken aback. She couldn't help but wonder just what this evil incarnate was planning again.
There was no way it could just be a game. Regardless, she decided to save senior Yubin first. At least, that should save some grace for her miserable defeat.
*Ting~*
Davis flipped the purple coin using his thumb finger. The coin flew above as it spun.
"Heads~" Fairy Runalise uttered with her eyes wide.
The coin almost hit the ceiling before it came plunging down. It later crashed on the floor bed and instantly stilled without any shaking whatsoever.
A big smile appeared on Fairy Runalise's face.
"It's head's~"
"..."
Davis's expression was blank, and she couldn't help but gloat over the feeling of having a win over the infamous Divine Emperor of Death.
"As promised, you will not harm senior Yubin and let him go in ten years' time."
Seeing Davis remain silent, she snickered and reminded him of the promise.
