Chapter 547
Summon Of The Sword
âMr. Bennett, there are a dozen people downstairs.
âThey are all representatives of our suppliers. Theyâre asking for payment.â
The female secretary reported in a panic as she spoke.
âOh? Is that so?â
Shane sneered when he heard that.
It seemed Sean had started!
However, the same tactic again?
He did the same thing last time. How could a cunning old fox like Shane not be prepared for this?
âWe havenât reached their payment deadline. Whatâs the hurry?
âI had someone tamper with the payment terms when we signed the contract.
âThe payment wonât be due until at least a month later.
âSo thereâs nothing to worry about.â
Shane sneered and leaned back in his office chair as he waved his hand nonchalantly.
âMr. Bennett, but the payment date on the contract is dueâ¦â
The secretary shook her head slightly and said as she looked at Shane.
âWhat?â
Shane froze instantly.
âThatâs impossible! I instructed Mr. Winston, who is in charge of signing the contract.
âDid he fail at his job?â
Shaneâs eyes widened with a sense of foreboding.
âMr. Bennett, Mr. Winston didnât do what you instructedâ¦
âI think his resignation the other day has something to do with this.â
The female secretary sighed and presented Shane with a contract.
Shane picked it up and looked before he flung it to the ground hard.
âSean!
âSean must have bribed Mr. Winston. He sold me out!
âSean has already planted someone beside me!â
Shaneâs eyes widened. He thought what happened last time was over.
Now, he learned that Sean had planted a time bomb for him!
No wonder Sean did not do anything last night. He was only waiting for today!
âMr. Bennett, theyâre all waiting for payment. What shall we do?â
The female secretary sighed gently before asking somewhat nervously.
âHmph! Donât panic! Iâve prepared something else.â
Shane pondered for two seconds and was about to speak after snorting coldly.
Just then, the landline on the desk rang.
âHello? Who is this?â
Shane hesitated a little before answering it.
âCould the Bennett family withstand this?â
There was a calm voice on the other end of the line.
The calmness was mixed with a hint of playfulness.
Shane immediately recognized it as Seanâs voice.
âSean Lennon! You want me to beg, donât you?
âIâm telling you, your old ways wonât work on the Bennett family!â
Shane gritted his teeth slightly spoke fiercely.
âIt doesnât matter.
âIâve prepared a lot of presents for the Bennett family too.
âIf you can accept them, carry on.â
Sean smiled and hung up.
Bang!
Shane slammed the handset onto the base, his eyes cold..
âDad, was it Sean?
âDid Sean really do this? Why donât we go beg him?â
Jay was so cocky before, but he chickened out now that Sean had made his move.
âHmph! Is there any use in begging him now?
âThe Bennett family have put up with him enough. Does he really think I, Shane Bennet, have spent all these years for nothing?
âIâll accept that crippleâs challenge!
âWith our assets of tens of millions of dollars, I donât believe the Bennett family canât defeat at loser who has been catatonic for two years!â
Shane lit a cigarette and looked at the female secretary.
âDonât worry.
âWe can pay them.
âGo to Mr. Langdon. I have just taken out a huge loan from River City Bank a while avoid a capital chain rupture like last time.
ago to âAsk Mr. Langdon to allocate the funds to get rid of these people. Iâll see how Seanâs old approach is going to work.â
Shane immediately waved his hand and said with a face full of confidence.
âYes!â
The female secretary replied and left the office.
Bang!
Just then, the office door was flung open again.
A girl with glasses rushed inside in a panic.
âMr. Bennett, weâre in trouble! Weâre in trouble!
âOur company account has just been hacked.
âOur companyâs existing funds have been transferred to an offshore account. It has disappeared without a traceâ¦
âWeâre broke now!â
The girl with glasses looked flustered. She had never experienced anything like this.
No matter how skilled those hackers were, there was no way they could transfer their funds that easily.
Therefore, they must have had a mole.
âHsss! Mr. Langdon. Where is Mr. Langdon?â
The confidence in Shaneâs face vanished instantly as he got up and yelled.
âHe didnât show up for work today.â
Shaneâs eyes popped open as soon as the girl with glasses said that.
Then he slowly sat down on his office chair.
Did Sean not do anything last night just to make arrangements and strike the Bennett family today?
âCall the police! Catch Mr. Langdon!
âHurry!â
Shane yelled at the female secretary.
âMr. Bennett, even if we find Mr. Langdon, we have no solid proof!
âEven if thereâs proof, the money wonât come back anytime soon. There are so many people downstairs waiting for payment.
âWhat we need most is money right now!â
The female secretary shook her head as she spoke anxiously.
Ring ring ring!
The landline on the desk rang again.
