Ceci
You are gonna have them wondering when you tell these stories at the Nursing Home.
I had a nightmare two nights ago.
Kind of a deadwood scene.
I was at a party and they needed help in the kitchen.
It was a set up.
When I started cleaning up something that had spilled out of a cupboard, I was ambushed by this man with a knife. A few minutes before I had noticed him swing dancing with some lady. In real life, he is an acquaintance, I have no idea why I picked him.
I reached up to stop the knife and he cut open my hand and then sliced my leg to bleed me out. Then I heard one of Andy's friends say, "Don't do this, let's not do this!"
That's when I realized everyone was in on it. I laid there paralyzed.
Then I woke up.
The next night I had a worse dream.
It was Isaac asleep in his bed, holding a small jar of my ashes.
Damn Prince.

Jack
You get knifed by your husband and his friends?!
What does that mean?
?
[Ceci & Jack talk on the phone]
I'm driving to Court for Joe's arrest warrant hearing.
I know I promised you I wouldn't text-n-drive.
Forgive me.
Stopped driving.
Here's more on the buried hookers: Joe has to make this morning's hearing or his arrest warrant goes active. He gets arrested. He goes to jail.
I was up 5:45 A.M. Shower. Dress for Court. Apple for breakfast. Out the door.
One inch of new snow. Drive thirty-five miles down the mountain to the office. Race back up another mountain for Court. Joe's not here. We are set for a 9:00 A.M. hearing.
[Gilpin County Courthouse.]
8:50 A.M.
Joe's still not here.
Again, I'm waiting for him at the entrance. Checking my watch. Peering out into the parking lot.
8:58 A.M.
I see Joe in the parking lot. I'm grabbing him by the elbow and rushing his ass into the Courtroom.
We get his arrest warrant quashed.
My blood pressure is lowering.
Debriefing Joe for updates.

He is tired. Fragged. Thousand mile stare. It turns out he missed his last Court date because he had no car. And he has no phone because he can't pay the bill. Poverty sucks. My anger softens.
We schedule Joe's probation violation case to trail his case for car theft (the Johannsson brothers lent him a car, then reported him for car theft. Set him up to get arrested so they could go on his property and retrieve the gun and anything else).
Joe tells me Greg Johannsson's liquor store is a front for drugs and prostitution. And "Bunny" is the Madame of the "Lonesome Pup Kennel". The Kennel is built with with a hidden row of small, back rooms for prostitution, stolen property, and drug sales. Bunny also provides fake employment papers for parolees.
Joe reports that "Auntie Em" is a major fence for stolen goods, which she runs through a high-profile car dealership in Denver.
Joes "girlfriend" Carmen runs "Escort" ads on the Rear Pages site under the name "Anastasia" with photos of her sporting a cowboy hat and not much else. She uses the slogan, "Save a horse, ride a cowgirl". But modern commerce rewards diversity, so she also runs ads in black leather, and another in a belly dancer costume. She promises an "Early Bird Special" for thrifty sex, and the flexibility of a "Wild or Mild" hook-up. These ads are repeated in the "Body Rubs" section.
We will verify Joe's account before we share it with the cops.
On the way back to the office, I drop in on the mechanic shop of the ax victim. He has not written his statement to the judge, but his wife wrote hers, and she talked to DA Thatcher.
The wife told the DA that she has a friend in prison. She doesn't believe in prison, and she does NOT want Jason going to prison.
She said the DA said she didn't believe in prison either and would pass the wife's thoughts on to the Court.
I fist bump the wife.
I suppose DA Thatcher might have just been leading the wife on, but I hope not. I hope the DA has turned over a new leaf, ended her prison affair, and is becoming a more soulful hot mama, perhaps she even adds some undulation to her stride.

Donuts?
90 miles driven before 10:00 A.M.
Back at the office. The Nancy Grace/CNN case is coming to life.
But first, Breakfast!

Jack
Good Morning, Ceci!
Today we're driving across the flats to appear on a wife beating case.
We found the Cowgirl/Prostitute ads. Sending them to you as soon as we find a way to download without becoming infected with porn sites and other electronic STDs.
Emailing to you now.
And I'll post the photos here, now, below...
