Halloween
Shortie & Knight
A/N: I know that it says in the song that the unidentified "band" does the solo, but for the sake of my sanity (because I'd have to give them that unidentified "band" and I'm too lazy to either make new characters or make characters learn the song in the book) it's just Max.
â¢Amethystâ¢
It had been about a month since Max's boxing match and I was ready for Halloween to come. I had been searching the internet for cute costumes to wear when I stumbled upon a Sully from "Monsters Inc." onesie. My brain just started creating ideas until I came up with the best one: a couple costume. And since the real costume that Max and I wanted to wear was a little too inappropriate for school, we were going to wear the cute costumes to school and then wear our other ones to a small Halloween get together. We were also going to post cute pictures and really go all out.
Now that I've tortured you enough with anticipation to know what we wore (unless I didn't build it up enough), I'll tell you. I was wearing a Sully onesie while Max was wearing a Mike Wazowski onesie. He looked miserable at first when he put it on, but I gave him a big kiss and he instantly started liking it.
I made him come to my house about an hour before school since my mom took like thirty minutes just to take pictures. As soon as we walked downstairs, my mother cooed and clapped her hands.
"My little baby is following in her mama's footsteps!" She cheered as she pulled out her phone to take pictures.
"What do you mean, mama?" I wondered.
She smirked. "Do you really think your introverted father went to parties on his own accord? Hell no. I made him go."
"I heard that!" My dad yelled from the kitchen.
Max chuckled and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "How did you get Mr. Stone to go to parties?"
"How did Amethyst get you to wear that costume?" She countered.
Max blushed a bit and pulled down the hood of his onesie so you couldn't see his face. I laughed at his embarrassment and wrapped my arms around his waist. As this was happening there was a flash which caused both of us to look at my mom. She smiled brightly and waved her phone in the air.
"For the grandkids," she explained.
I laughed again. "Whatever you say mama."
"Yeah, Mrs. Stone. Whatever you say," Max said with a slightly high-pitcher voice. He was embarrassed, I could tell.
"Così carino," I said with a chuckle. (So cute) (Italian)
"Cállate," Max grumbled. (Shut up) (Spanish)

"Get on his shoulders!" Samantha ordered as she held up her camera.
Max bent down onto his knees while Xander picked me up and placed me on his shoulders. Max was still too tall for me on his knees, but he couldn't go any lower if he wanted to get back up with me on safely on his shoulders. Once I was on him, Xander walked away and stood next to Samantha who was getting ready to take the picture.
We were currently on the bleachers out by the field twenty minutes before school started. We wanted to have enough time to take a a few photos for Max, Samantha, Xander, and I's Instagram. Samantha and Xander were Barbie and Ken, even though Xander was a brunette. He just temporarily colored it to look blonde, and it honestly looked pretty good.
Anyway, once Max had stood up with me on his shoulders, I pulled down my hood to cover my eyes and held up my hands to make claws to the camera while snarling. Max just smirked with his hood on, looking absolutely adorable in his onesie. Samantha took a few pictures of us in the pose before telling us to take pictures of her and Xander. As Xander was helping me get down from Max's shoulders, West, Audrey, Kyle, Oscar, Kace, and Axel waved at us.
"Is this a photo shoot?" Kace and Axel asked at the same time. They were dressed as Chip 'n' Dale; Axel being Chip and Kace being Dale. Kyle was dressed as the Pride flag while Oscar was dressed as an Oscar award. Audrey and West, however, were dressed in a couples outfit as a criminal and a cop; Audrey being the cop and West being the criminal.
We all looked at Kace and Axel weirdly for a few seconds because of how in sync they were before Samantha spoke up.
"Yeah. The cutest couple in the world needed to show Instagram how cute they were... oh and Max and Amy too."
I giggled while Max just rolled his eyes. "Whatever man. We both know Amy's the cutest person out of all of us, therefore making us the cutest couple."
I shook my head no while everyone else nodded and murmured in agreement.
"I am not cute," I growled.
Audrey instantly started to nod. "Right! She isn't cute guys, she's a sexy independent woman that just happens to be under five feet with adorable doe eyes."
I nodded in thanks. "See? Not cute, just short with Bambi eyes. Anyway, let's take the picture of Ken and Barbie here before school starts, okay?"
After a few pictures we walked into the school and parted ways to each of our respective classes. Samantha walked with me to our class and I actually wasn't that nervous with all the people looking at me. Not everyone was in costumes, only a handful, but I was definitely getting looked at for another reason. Maybe it was the fact that I had matched with Max again, maybe it was the fact that I was Sully when I should have been Mike or Boo, or maybe it was something else. Either way, people were looking at me and I didn't know why.
Until lunch came around.
"She's dating him?"
"They're a thing?"
"He'd actually waste his time with her?"
"She's really dating the guy that almost went to Juvie?"
All of the whispers were honestly more annoying than they were overwhelming. I would have had an panic attack right there, but couldn't considering the fact that I just didn't care at the time. I was having a good day and I wasn't in the mood for my anxiety and fears to ruin it.
Thank God I could do that.
"Hola Sully!" A familiar Australian accent called as I walked with Max to lunch.
I turned and smiled when I saw Austin jog up to catch up with Max and I.
"G'day mate," I teased.
He chuckled once he got up to me. "I finally know where the general direction of my classes are," he said with a smile before waving to Max. "Hey, you must be Maximus. Amy's boyfriend, right?"
He smirked and nodded. "The one and only. You're that 'adorable little Australian' Austin, right?"
Austin blushed, which made him look really cute in his teddy bear costume.
"I guess I am. Does Amy really call me that?"
I nodded. "Yeah, well, I used to. Not so much anymore seeing as I haven't got to see you as much."
He shrugged. "I am a freshman. Anyway, what's with people acting all weird about you and Max dating? Everyone in my grade knew like a month ago."
Max rolled his eyes. "The people who make a big deal about gossip finally find out, since we don't really act all public about us in school. Now they're starting dumb rumors and stuff."
"Idiots," Austin grumbled.
Max smiled widely. "I like you, dude. You should hang out with us more, maybe at school games and stuff. In fact, I'll introduce you to my baby brother Alexander, he's pretty chill."
"He's a sophomore, right?" Austin wondered.
"How'd you know?"I wondered.
He smirked. "I heard a bunch of girls crushing on him in P.E. He seems like he's 'a real hottie'." He quoted 'a real hottie' with his hands dramatically.
Max and I laughed. "I have a feeling Hamilton will really like you," I said with a smile.
"He lets you call him that?" Max wondered.
"Only 'cause he calls me Topaz."
Austin smiled. "He seems pretty funny. Anyway, I'm gonna go to lunch with some of my friends." He waved. "Bye guys!"
Max and I waved to him as he walked to wherever his friends were having lunch. "Cute kid," Max mumbled as he kissed the top of my head.
"You think? He was really nervous when he first came, reminded me a bit of me I guess."
He chuckled. "I'm sure he wasn't that nervous."
"Asshole," I grumbled.
"I'm your asshole."
I giggled. "Yeah... yeah you are."

"I'm scared," I whined to Andy and Austin.
Andy rolled his eyes. "It's just us, your friends. It's not like anyone's gonna judge you."
"Yeah. From what I've gathered, your friends are pretty chill. It's just a party," Austin assured.
I huffed. "Yeah, a party that I'm singing at."
"If it makes you feel any better, most of the single guys will be staring at how good you look in your costume," Austin said with a cheeky smile.
Andy smacked Austin on the back of his head. "The better thing to say is 'Max will be up there with you' you idiot."
I looked down at my costume and smiled. I was dressed in a cute white tube top, a white leather pencil skirt, some white wedges, large angel wings on my back, and bright red devil horns on my head. I was basically a devil in disguise. Max was wearing a matching outfit with his bright red jeans with a devil tale on his butt, red high top sneakers, no shirt but he did stick devil wings to his back, and a white halo on his head. He was an angel in disguise.
Max said it had something to do with our personalities. I was sweet and adorable, his words not mine, but once something really made me angry or I was on stage, I was a, and I quote, "badass little shortie who could rule the world." At first, he just wanted to be a devil and have me be the devil in disguise, but I decided that he was an angel in disguise. He was scary and brooding to most, but he had a soft spot for the people he loved and would only hurt someone if they did something bad... or if they were in the ring with him.
He was my angel in disguise.
And right then, my angel and I would sing the song we made together in front of our friends. I liked the song, I really did, but I was scared I was going to mess it up.
"I hope everyone will only look at my costume and not listen to me messing up," I mumbled.
Austin rolled his eyes. "I'm sure you have the voice of an angel... no pun intended."
Andy and I laughed before Kace called for both Max and I to come on the makeshift stage in Samantha's living room.
"That's your cue," Andy said encouragingly. "You'll do great, I'm sure."
I smiled uneasily before going onto the stage. Max was already standing there with his electric guitar hooked up to the speaker. Samantha ran in from the crowd and handed me my acoustic guitar. Max and I turned to each other before tapping our feet to the beat of the song. Just as he was about to count us of, Kyle and Audrey ran up to us with headpieces so we could sing into them without having to hold microphones. I smiled gratefully at them before turning back to Max and starting up the beat again. Once we were together, he counted us off.
I started off with the guitar first. Quietly strumming as we tapped our feet to give us a bass.
"It don't matter where I'm going
Or what I came to do
The point is there ain't nothing
I'd rather have than you
Wrap me, wrap me in your arms..."
I smiled at him before singing along.
"And hold me, hold me 'til the morning comes."
Max started to play his guitar, adding more of a country feel to the song. I smiled brightly at how good we sounded before I sang.
"I don't know how you got here
When you came alone
If loving you ain't right
Then I'm the queen of doing wrong
Wrap me, wrap me in your arms..."
Max winked at me before fully turning to the audience, getting more comfortable being on stage.
"And hold me, hold me 'til the morning comes," we sang together.
Then it was my favorite part; when Max did his solo on the guitar. I loved it because he got so into the song. He strummed skillfully at the guitar and had a small smile on his face as he did. As he did this, I swayed a little to the beat, causing Kace and Axel to give me a thumbs up. I bit my lip to stop from giggling at how goofy they looked in their costumes.
As Max was playing, he walked over to me nudged my shoulder with his guitar a little bit. I turned to him and winked before dancing around him. He chuckled a bit before finishing his solo and going back to the song.
"Those other guys are crazy
They'd leave before you know
But once you let me in
Baby I'll never let you go!" He sang with a smile and a wink.
"Those other girls got nothing
When it comes to me
Just open up your arms
And let me in and then you'll see," I sang back with just as much enthusiasm.
"Wrap me, wrap me in your arms," We inched closer to each other as we sang.
"Ooh, and hold me
Hold me 'til the morning comes."
I looked up into Max's eyes as the song ended.
"Ooh, and hold me
Hold me 'til the morning comes." We smiled as we sang the last part.
"Ooh-ooh."
Everyone cheered loudly, screaming and whooping. I giggled when Samantha and Audrey came up to hug me. I hastily put down the guitar before they could crush it. Samantha picked me up while Audrey just crushed me from behind. I laughed at how happy they were and turned to see Max being tackled by Kyle while Xander rooted them on and Axel took a video of them. Kace , Oliver, and West were standing off to the side making bets on who would win, and it seemed like the bets were on Kyle. Once Samantha and Audrey let me go, Alexander picked me up and placed me on his shoulders out of nowhere. I screamed a bit but giggled once I realized it was just him. Austin just bounced around him happily, obviously happy with my performance.
"Wow Topaz, I didn't know you had it in you," Andy chuckled.
I patted his head. "I didn't know you could pick me up Hamilton."
"Of course, you're a little munchkin," Austin said smugly.
"And you're an adorable Australian, an A squared if you will," I shot back.
Andy laughed. "You're something else Topaz. You really are."
I shrugged. "I know. And by the way, next time a girl is in a skirt, don't put her on your shoulders. You're lucky I was wearing shorts."
I could felt Andy's neck heat up. "I'll keep that in mind if I get a girlfriend."
I rolled my eyes. "You're a King, of course you'll get a girlfriend. Have you seen how girls act around your brother? Why do you think I date him?"
"Because of his personality."
I shrugged. "Eh, more or less."
You know you love him, my inner voice said. I felt my eyes widen at the thought. Love him? Do I love him?
Holy shit... I love him.
