Chapter 26 – Let Her Guard Down

The more Xiao Jingfeng listened to Li Jing’er, the more fascinated he became and realized that he was actually considering it.

“What’s the matter with the wound on your chest.”

Only when Li Jing’er drew close to him that she noticed the scar in the shape of a cross near his heart.

It could be seen how dangerous the situation was at that time.

Xiao Jingfeng stroked the uneven scar with an abnormally calm expression.

“I am General Chen Rong’s trusted aide and I have to follow him around.  At that time, an arrow was shot at the back of the General and as his trusted aide, I did not have second thoughts.  The arrow shot into my left chest and even the military doctor shook his head and said I was could not be saved.  Not long after that, the news of my death spread………”

At that time, he was fighting for his life and almost could not pull through.  Divine Doctor Zhou cut open his flesh and used the tip of the knife to dig out the barbed arrowhead.  He was given a strong medicine and was in a coma for about 10 days.  In the end, he recovered and General Chen Rong permitted him to return home to reunite with his family.  It was only upon reaching home that he discovered the military had mistakenly sent the news of his death to his family.

“Mother, why are you still not sleeping?  I can’t sleep without smelling your scent.”

“Stinky kid……..”

What does he mean by being unable to sleep without smelling his mother’s scent?  He is already 5 years old and still doesn’t sleep alone……..  Alright!  There is only a stone bed in the house so there’s no other way but this kid is too clingy!

As a husband, he had hugged his wife only a few times.

The extremely jealous Xiao Jingfeng gritted his teeth in silence and stared at the ‘love rival’ who was not even as tall as his legs.  It was as if he had overturned the vinegar jar and his whole body felt sour.

That is only just a child……..is it worth making such a fuss over him?

But the good atmosphere is ruined and it’s hateful!  Truly heart-wrenching!  When he finally made some progress with his wife, this kid completely ruined the moment as soon as he opened his mouth to speak.

“Xiao Jingfeng, your clothes are already dry.”

Li Jing’er looked at him with a slight smile and the look in her eyes made him feel guilty.

“It’s still raining outside.”  He pointed to the misty drizzle.

Rainy days are the days to let the guests stay.

Although the rain had turned into a drizzle, the hay shack was soaked by the rain and had become inhabitable.  It was even more dangerous to go down the mountain in the rain in the middle of the night.  If one is slightly careless, one will be a goner.

So it is inevitable for him to stay.

Li Jing’er avoided looking at his majestic six-pack and her eyes drifted to the jade bow hanging on the stone wall.

“You and Shuangming can sleep together……..against the wall.”

“What about you?”

When he thought of the two of them lying side by side, his whole body heated up and his blood flow accelerated.

She pursed her lips and then smiled.

“I’ll be sleeping on the other side and there will be three children sleeping in the middle.  Once autumn is over, winter will arrive, and everywhere should remain calm.”

“Jing Niang…….”

How can he remain calm?  His blood is boiling………

“Even if you call me Niang, it’s useless.  Put on your clothes and get into bed.”

Li Jing’er spaced out the lighted firewood in the fireplace and let the flame die out naturally so that sparks would not burst out and accidentally ignite the wood kept at the side.

“Truly heartless…….”  A woman’s heart is unpredictable and deep!

Xiao Jingfeng was only wearing underwear and the thin cloth wrapped around him could not hide his lean body.  When he passed in front of Li Jing’er, he deliberately slowed down to show off his arm muscles and it was not known whether it was done internationally or unintentionally,  his fingertips slid across her hand causing her to let out a soft sigh.

When he saw her sucking in her breath and blushing, the corners of his mouth twitched in satisfaction and walked towards the long bed that separated the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.

This stone bed is truly too damn big!

There will still be gaps if a dozen or more soldiers roll on it which shows that the bed is indeed not small.

Originally, Li Jing’er slept in the middle of the bed with the three children to make it easy for her to take care of them.  However, with an additional aggressive man present, she had to divide the bed into two sections with a piece of cloth as a curtain hung in the middle separating the males on one side and the females on the other side.

“Mother, I don’t want to sleep with him.  He doesn’t smell nice.”

There was a scent and was not bad but he doesn’t like it……..it’s better to sleep with his mother who has a nice scent.

“Shuangming, bear with it.  He will leave at dawn.”

As soon as the rain stops, he will have no excuse to stay.  She does not feed poor people.

Leave?

Xiao Jingfeng’s eyes flashed.

Shuangming who was feeling distressed thought for a while.

“Alright!  I’ll listen to Mother.”

“Good boy.”

The good boy reluctantly shared half of his quilt and bit his lip thinking that he would not be able to fall asleep.  Without his mother beside him, he will feel afraid.

However, he slept soundly without having a single nightmare.  He was unaware that someone pinched his nose in the middle of the night and continued to breathe with his mouth open.  Even his habit of curling in the quilt was corrected.

The silent chuckle was as soft as cotton wool and as the last trace of the flame in the fireplace finally died down, the light went out.

The room was dark.

The rain stopped, the cloud dissipated and the moon came out.

The bright moonlight streamed through the small windows illuminating the darkness.  Every scene and object in the room that was carved out of stone could be seen.

In the deep night, the frogs were humming in unison and everyone was asleep except for one person.

In the darkness, a pair of deep eyes opened wide.

Quietly…….walking on tiptoes, sneaking like a cheetah, just to………steal fragrance………

“Jing Niang…….”

Li Jing’er was sleeping soundly and was unaware that someone was approaching.  She felt the wind blowing past her ear and stretched out her hand to brush her ear.  Then she turned over and continued to sleep.

Little did she know that when she turned over, she turned into someone’s arms.  Without being aware, she was embraced by someone and her slender waist was gently hugged and she cuddled face to face with someone.

Soft and fragrant!  What that stinky kid said is true!

Breathing in the faint fragrance, a certain person who self-inflicted this fiasco smiled wryly.

Being able to see but unable to eat was the cruelest torture to his aggrieved little brother.

He stiffened his body, closed his eyes, and eventually fell asleep.  He slept extremely peacefully and had not felt so relaxed for a long time.

It was the feeling of coming home…….the feeling of warmth and comfort in his heart.

However, it was not very good to be discovered…….for example……..

“Xiao Jingfeng!……..”

The words were spat out through gritted teeth.

The sky had turned misty bright.

Li Jing’er could not turn her body over and felt a heavy object pressing down on her.  Half-awake, she opened her eyes groggily and wondered whether she was in the fire brigade’s dormitory or a survival camp in the wilds.  At this moment, her mind was in a messy state.

For her to be fully awake, she needed a cup of coffee and some time to energize herself.  Her biological time had woken up and no matter how tired her body is, she will still wake up.  However, her soul needs half an hour more to adjust and this is the time that poses the hardest struggle for her.

Suddenly, her hand seemed to touch something hard.

With heartbeats……..

She realized something was amiss.

The children can’t have grown up overnight!  What dangerous creature is this and where did it come from?

Her body reacted faster than her brain and instantly made a move.  She had to strike first with a fatal single blow and not give the opponent the power to counterattack.

A freestyle fighting move……..

Throat lock……..

“Jing Niang, I don’t mind if you want to throw yourself into my arms but that is too passionate in the morning.  This husband will be frightened.  Let’s take things slowly, we’re not in a hurry.”

Her hand was grabbed and gently turned over.  Then he wrapped her hand in his big hot hand and placed it on his chest over his beating heart.

Li Jing’er was shocked when she saw his magnified face in front of her.  She could not believe she could sleep so soundly that she was not even aware when someone lay down beside her.  She felt annoyed that she had let down her guard and was overly confident.  The metal wooden door could guard against the beasts that lurk outside but cannot guard against the wolf that was let into the house.

When the feelings passed, a monstrous fire ignited in her chest.  The throat-locking move that she was proud of was easily deflected.  Not only did she not achieve the effect of the attack, but she was also controlled by others.  It was obvious she had been taken advantage of and the fire in her heart burned fiercely.

The remaining rationality reminded her that three children were lying next to her.  Even though her anger was surging, she still suppressed the roar lodged in her throat and squeezed out the words between her teeth.

“When did you come over?”  Hateful!

The motionless curtain was a huge mockery.  It was as if mocking her for her lack of understanding of the man.  It was a superfluous act of guarding against a gentleman but not a villain.

“While you were asleep.”  He chuckled softly.

Although there was a smile on his face, he was actually very busy and not even a little bit relaxed.  If he had not used his thighs to hold down the jade feet that were vigorously kicking about under the quilt in time, his little brother would have probably been crippled.

Where did this woman learn such a ruthless move?

“Where did you learn your shamelessness from?  Did you learn it on your own without a teacher?”

She could not help but sneer as she was unwilling to let him succeed so easily.

Li Jing’er’s anger was very obvious.  Ever since she transmigrated over, this is the first time she is defeated, unable to struggle free, and at the mercy of others.

It hurts her self-esteem very much.  The advantages she thought transmigrators have are all gone.

“Isn’t it right for a husband and wife to sleep in the same bed?  Look at you behaving like a little white rabbit meeting a fox and drilling in wherever there’s a hole.  Your husband can be considered as not too bad, so why are you running in fear?”

Xiao Jingfeng laughed helplessly at himself.  He wanted to open his heart to take care of the woman in his arms but she did not show any appreciation.

Gritting her teeth, she suppressed her roar.

“Would you like me to lend you a hammer to knock your head hard?  According to the laws of this dynasty, we are already divorced and there’s a written document in the county’s office.  Even if you want to pressure them to cancel the document, it’s impossible.  Is it very interesting for me to remind you over and over again about this fact?”
