chapter 22: Preparations

Parker's POV

"Are we ready with everything?" I ask Kaino as I glance all around the room, looking at the things which we gathered to do the work.

After yesterday's shopping and bringing in all the things which would be required for Moon, today we're going to paint one of the guest room and decorate it with everything so that it would turn into a suitable room for a child. We also ordered a baby bed and other things which we missed while shopping. Those would be arriving in three days and our idea is to paint the room by the time we receive those things so the room would be dry without any paint smell and ready.

"Yes, I guess. We have everything here." Kaino replies while entering into the room with painting aprons in his hands.

"Let's get started, then." I clap my hands excitedly.

"Sure," Kaino chuckles before handing me one of the apron and I give him a look as if asking him what, "tie this around me."

When he says that, my mouth forms an oh and I nod at him before taking the apron from him.

"Turn around." I tell him so that I can tie it.

"No, tie it like this." He replies making me frown.

"How can I tie like this? My hands won't reach enough." I reason out and wait for him to turn.

"How will you know without trying? Once try and see." He says and I give him a stare before folding my hands on my chest.

"Kaino, either you turn around for me to tie or wear it by yourself." I state before I go to give the apron back to him and leave.

"Fine, fine, don't go. I'll turn around." He agrees and I surpass my laugh before I nod at him.

With a pout, he turns around and I giggle by sealing my lips together tightly so that he wouldn't know. Being with him and spending time with him after our confessions had been different from the previous times we were together. Kaino is a big baby, literally. He's, of course, serious when it comes to important things but with me, he easily gets disappointed when I don't agree with him for anything. He pouts and makes faces which I find really cute, so, sometimes I disagree with him intentionally just to watch him being a big baby.

"Okay, I finished tying." I tell him with a pat on his shoulder and he turns around.

"I'll tie it for you then we'll start the work." He says and I nod so that we can work, I'm so eager to paint and decorate this room for moon.

"No need, stay still." He states when I try to turn around for him to tie.

I look at him confused but do as he said and stay still. He smiles like he succeeded doing something and opens the apron folds before putting it on me. I watch what he's doing as he stares at me with his eyes twinkling. I frown because he's seriously being weird but I realise what's going on in his mind when he wraps his hands around my waist and pulls me to him. Because it was so sudden, I instinctly place my hands on his shoulders and clutch him to support myself. His breath fans on my neck where a small part of my skin is exposed as he puts his head on my shoulder while tying the apron.

His hands tighten their hold around me and I tremble in his hands as he peppers few kisses on my neck. My eyes close on their own accord and I squeeze his shoulder, getting lost in the feels. But thankfully before we could go further, I get back to my senses and open my eyes before pushing him away from me.

"Y-you pervert." I exclaim and feel my cheeks and ears burning up.

"What? I didn't even do anything. Why would you say that?" He pouts while looking at me like a lost puppy.

"Y-you were..." I open my mouth to say he was kissing me all over but close it immediately when he looks at me expectantly.

"I was what?" He asks with a knowing glint in his eyes and I hit him on his chest lightly as he smirks at me.

"Kaino, are you teasing me?" I wail and he chuckles before taking a step towards me.

"Of course, you look cute when I tease you." He says as he holds my face in his hand, "but seriously, can't I even kiss my husband?"

"You can but not when we're busy with work. We have so much work to do and you're doing all these." I scold him while pointing towards the room which is still in it's old form.

"Fine, I won't disturb us anymore. Let's start working." He states with a nod and turns around to start the work.

I bit my lips thinking if I made him angry or disappointed. I don't like when he's sad or feeling down because he always makes sure to keep me happy. I want to do the same to him. After contemplating for few seconds, I take my steps towards him and hold his elbow, stopping him from moving forward. I hurriedly turn him around and press my lips against him as I kiss him. Being surprised by my sudden move, he stays still for a second before returning the kiss. I don't prolong the kiss instead keep it short and pull away immediately.

"I'm sorry." I apologise for making him sad.

"For what?" He asks as he caress my cheek and I lean in, feeling comfortable and relaxed.

"Because I made you sad by my behavior." I respond lowly, kinda ashamed of my behavior.

"But I'm not sad." He states and I look at him confused, "I'm not sad or disappointed by your words. I said we'll get to work because I felt I teased you enough."

His words slowly sink into my wind and a blush creeps over my face as I realise I embarrassed myself by thinking unnecessary things.

"Wow! You kissed because you thought you made me sad? I should have made my reaction more dramatic maybe then you would have given me something more than just a kiss." He teases while winking at me and I push him before walking away.

God! Why do I have to imagine things and make myself a fool in front of him? Not that he minds but it's just that I embarrassed myself without any reason. I groan as he follows me behind while chuckling and that's how our whole day goes on. With us getting busy with work while playing and teasing, mostly Kaino teasing me all the time, we finish painting the room with colors and designs of our choice, more like mine.

When we get done with work, we wash up to get rid of the smell and remains of the paint. I cook dinner for us before we take our seats and begin to eat our food. That's when I remember the most important thing I forgot.

"OH GOD!" I shout suddenly while having dinner.

Kaino stops eating at my sudden shout and turns to me before asking me, "what happened?"

"I forgot to inform to our parents about Moon." I tell him, remembering about our parents.

"Calm down, Parker. We can tell them now. After eating, we'll call them and talk to them about Moon." He suggests and I calm down before nodding at him.

Few minutes later, we finish our dinner. We wash the dishes and kitchen counter before feeding pup. After closing all the doors, we finally make our way to our room. Laying on the bed, I grab my phone from the night table and hold it in my hands while staring at it, suddenly feeling nervous to talk to our parents about Kaino and I adopting a child. How would they react? I do believe they won't say no or go against my decision. But this might be so sudden and something unexpected.

"The phone doesn't call on it's own if you just hold it in your hands and stare at it." Kaino remarks and takes the phone from my hands, dialling it.

I gaze at him with wide eyes, I need few minutes to gather some strength before I speak to them. I was preparing myself but he just called them without waiting for me. He turns on the speaker, so we can hear it ringing.

"Hello, Parker." As I stare at him, mother's voice says from the phone. I get more nervous realising she answered the call.

When I look up at Kaino, he signals me to speak up. So, with my shaky hands, I hold the phone and talk to her, "hello, mother."

"Is everything fine, Parker?" She queries a bit worried, most probably because I called her this late at night.

"Yeah, it's all good." I reply instantly so that she won't get worried unnecessarily, "I called you to inform about one important thing."

"What is it about?" She asks, now curious rather than being worried.

I take a deep breath and glance at Kaino who nods at me, motioning me to continue, "Kaino and I, we-we're adopting a child."

I state as I close my eyes even though she's not in front of me. I stay with my eyes closed, waiting for her to say something but the line goes silent. I open my eyes and look at Kaino questioningly, not that he knows what's going on because even he seems confused. He looks at the phone then at me before looking at the phone again. Realising nothing would happen if we stay watching each other, I speak into the phone.

"Mother, can you hear me?" I question and wait for her.

"Parker, what did you tell your mother?" A minute later, I hear my father's voice in the voice.

"Father, what happened to mother?" I narrow my eyes in worry.

"Don't know, she's silent all of a sudden like she's stuck by some attack. I'm glad she didn't faint actually." He chuckles but I can hear the hint of worry in his voice,"so, tell me what you told to her?"

"Father, Kaino and I are adopting a child." I repeat what I told to my mother.

Yet again, the line goes silent but this time before I could speak, my father starts talking, "that's great, Parker. Really, I'm so happy to hear this. It's so shocking but exciting at the same time. No wonder, your mother sat like a stone without any movements."

"Really, father? Are you not surprised by this or think we're going way fast with our decision?" I ask him the same doubt that I had asked Parker. Though he motivated me, somehow it's still bugging my mind.

"Of course not, Parker. This is really a great decision. Indeed, it's surprising knowing how your marriage happened but if it's what you want and if it's what makes you happy, then we're also happy with it." He confirms and the small doubt that I had vanishes into thin air.

"Thank you, father." I thank him while glancing at Parker and he smiles at me.

"No need to thank me but tell me how you got this thought of adopting a child?" He asks and I tell him the whole story of what happened.

"It seems like a fairytale story except that it happened in reality." He chuckles after hearing me and I smile acknowledging it.

"Um, about mother.." I query about her.

"She's just shocked, don't worry. I'll tell her everything later and we'll come to your house when you bring the child." He states and we bid our goodbyes before hanging the call.

Slowly everything is falling in the path.
