chapter 20: My answer

Parker's POV

"You agree to any of my decision?" I ask Kaino after listening to what he spoke.

It's utterly shocking that Kaino is okay with taking Moon with us. First of all, I'm surprised by my own wanting of taking him. It was all so sudden, I didn't know how the thought even occurred to me. He was alone, I just wanted to talk to him and help him to be with others. To befriend others because I know what he was felling, I was once in his place. But instead, I got attached to him from the very first moment I spoke to him. He kept himself to me, played with me and I also helped him feeding. It felt all natural, everything felt good.

But when I had to go, suddenly it felt like my heart dropped. It was as if I'm about to leave something very important to me, apart of me here. I absolutely hated that feeling and adding to that Moon started crying saying he don't want me to leave him. Maybe that was the last string that needed to be pulled. I didn't even know what I was doing but I was ready to ask Kaino about taking Moon. When I turned around and saw him, those words just stuck in my throat. I had no idea how to tell him.

Like reading my mind, without me telling him he knew what's going on in my mind. He himself asked me if we should adopt moon. When he asked me that question, that was when it made me realise what I'm actually thinking. And him accepting without any problem made me think again. That's why I told him I'm confused. However, when he brought me here and explained me the reason why he accepts my decision, it slowly drew into me. And when he said I shouldn't have regrets, everything became clear to me and I made up my mind. So, I asked him again if he's fine with any of my decision.

"Ofcourse, I do. I agree to any of your decision." He says with a smile, the one which is an encouragement to me.

"So, if I decide to adopt Moon, you will agree to it?" I query with a raised brow.

"I will. Now let me ask you this," He confirms before questioning me, "then, are you going to?"

"Yes, I'm, I mean we're going to adopt him. I have made my decision." I tell him confidently.

"What's the late then? Go and tell her the same." He says gesturing to madam.

I nod at him and stand up by holding his hand before making him stand along with me. With determined mind, I head to where madam is standing and stand in front of her. She looks at me with confused gaze and I open my mouth to tell her about Moon without further delay.

"Madam, we would like to adopt Moon." I reveal and her eyes widen with surprise.

"What? Y-you want to adopt Moon?" She asks and I nod at her, "Parker, think again. Maybe you thought about this after spending some time with him and seeing him crying, but it's not that easy. Perhaps, you're not in right mind now."

"No, madam. We thought thoroughly. We didn't take any rush decision nor I'm doing this because I got attached to him momentarily. We're ready to adopt him, after considering everything." I tell her.

"Madam, he already made the decision. Now, can we go through the process?" Kaino chips in when she stays silent for more than a minute.

"Oh-okay, if this is what you guys want." She finally accepts and walks to the work room where all the files and documents related to the children are stored.

Kaino and I exchange glances before we follow her to the room. We enter the room and she signals us to sit on the chair, we do as we're told. While we sit, she opens the lockers and searches for a file. When she finds it, she brings it to the table and opens it before placing it in front of us.

"This the information we collected about him so far and the other sheet is the adoption document. Read everything thoroughly and clearly before signing them." She explains and takes the seat in the chair in front of us as she waits for us.

I take the file in my hands and go through it as I read each and every line carefully. I don't want this to be just as a formality. But I want to know everything about Moon before I sign the agreement. It takes almost fifteen minutes for me to read the complete profile and once I'm done, I turn to Kaino and look at him who's already gazing at me.

"You finished reading?" He queries and I nod in response, "then, sign it. What are you waiting for? Remember, listen to your heart and do what it says."

When he says that, I don't think anymore and immediately grab the pen from it's holder before signing on the paper at the designated place. I then pass it to Kaino who signs it as well before handing the file back to her. She takes it from us and checks everything before closing the file and putting it a side. She looks up at me and I wait for what she's going to say next. Unlike before, she gives me a smile as if saying I did well.

"The procedure takes almost a week to complete, you already know that, right. I'll inform you when it gets approved." She states and I nod, "thank you, Parker, for adopting him and giving him a family."

"It's my pleasure, madam. He--he was different from others and I want him to be ours." I reply to her while taking a glance at Kaino.

"Can we meet him now? I just want to talk to him for a minute." I request her.

He was crying so much when madam dragged him away from me and locked him in a room. He must still be crying now. I want to see him and tell him not to cry anymore and I'll take him with me in about few days.

"Ofcourse, you can." She chuckles as she agrees to my request.

I smile and we get up. Leaving the work room, we make our way to where Moon is and she opens the door for us. Eagerly, I step into the room and find him sitting in a corner and crying. It breaks my heart to see him like this. He's sobbing so badly that he's hardly breathing. My heart breaks seeing him like this and I hurriedly walk to him.

"Moon." I call him while racing to him and he looks up at me before getting up and running to me.

When we met each other in the midway, I pull him in my hands and hug him tightly.

"Shh..don't cry. I'm here, now." I try to console him.

He locks his hands around my neck tightly and mumbles some incoherent words which I don't understand. I glance at Kaino with worried looks as I keep patting Moon's back.

"Come here." Kaino says and leads me to a seat, "sit down."

I do as he told and sit on the bed as I make Moon sit on my lap. Kaino sits next to me and bends down a little as he looks at moon.

"Moon, look at me once." Hearing Kaino's words, Moon peeks at him, he slowly stops his sobbing.

"Should I tell you something which would make you happy?" He asks him while stroking his hair.

Moon stays still as he sniffs at the after effects of his heavy crying. He stares at Kaino for a minute without saying anything so Kaino uses me as a bait.

"It involves him," Kaino says showing me, "now, do you want to know?"

And this time Moon nods at Kaino to tell him which makes Kaino chuckle.

"He's going to take you with us, to our home." He reveals to Moon who snaps his head and look up at me before looking at Kaino, back to me and finally Kaino again.

"Real?" He queries Kaino expectantly, it's clear in his voice.

"Really." Kaino confirms to which Moon turns to me and stares at me.

"You tak me?" He asks me, new set of tears pooling in his eyes.

"Yes, I'm going to take you with me," I smile and brush the strings of hair falling on his face, "only if you want to. Do would you want to come home with us?"

"Yes, I wat to." He responds while hugging me again.

I chuckle and rub his back before pulling him and wiping his tears.

"Don't cry anymore. Aren't you happy?" I state placing a kiss on his forehead.

"I cry cause I hapy." He laughs in between his cries making us chuckle. "We go now?"

"No," I respond and his smile drops, so I explain it to him immediately before he could get wrong idea, "Moon, we're going to take you with us but not now. There's some procedure that needs to be followed. It takes one week for that. So after that we'll come here again and take you with us, okay."

"Oky, I wat for you." He agrees instantly, surprising me but at least he understood, that's enough.

"We'll go now, then. Whenever you want to talk to me, tell to madam. She'll call me and we can talk." I tell him to which he nods at me.

Hugging him one last time, I stand up and we walk out of the room. I put him down when we enter the living area and bend down as I kiss his cheek. Kaino and I bid our goodbyes to him and to madam as well. With one last look at him, we leave the building as I watch him waving his tiny hand at us. We make our way out and towards our car. Sitting in the car, Kaino starts the engine and pulls away from there.

"I'm tired, I'll fresh up." Kaino says after we reach home as he walks past me, going to our room but I stop him.

"Kaino," I call him and he turns to me. I move towards him and stand right in front of him, facing him. "You said you would wait for my answer until I'm ready, right? I'm ready now."

He doesn't get my words because he narrows his eyes at me in confusion. I smile and bring my hands up before draping them around his neck. His confusion doubles as a result. Slowly, I lean in and gently press my lips against his before separating.

"I love you, Kaino." I confess, more like give my reply to his confession.

I feel it's the right time now to tell him my feelings. These past few days made me realise my true feelings to him, I already know my feelings I just needed to be sure of it. And today's event is more than enough for me to let my feelings out. I don't want to prolong this anymore by saying I still need time when I already know my feelings towards him. I'm now confident about it, no more confusion.

A smile breaks out his lips when it draws upon him and he immediately embraces me by wrapping his hands around me and pulling me to him. He cups my face with one of his hands and gazes right into my eyes before reducing the gap between us by kissing me. It lasts longer than before as he kisses me with his everything. He utters those magical words when he pulls away from the kiss making my heart swell,

"I love you too, Parker."
