I fired off a text to Tea.

Lily: Tea, What are you up to Friday for lunch?

Tea: Taking my bestie to the new lunch spot on 20th street.

Lily: I thought you would never ask.

Tea: You only hinted at it all last week.

Lily: I need food. Feed me.

Tea: Meet me at Lunch Lounge at noon on Friday.

Lily: Thank you beautiful.

Tea: Flattery will get you somewhere with me.

Lily: I'm pulling out all the stops.

Tea. Girl, you're crazy. See you then.

Friday came and I was excited for the potential of good food, but I had to put on real pants and a hooter holder. Maybe TMI, but I've had stomach trouble for the past 2 weeks now. The stress from the reality of life was getting to me. I put on my stretch leggings, a tunic type light pink cable sweater, brown roots that reached my knees. Time for Lunch Lounge.

"Hey girl. I'm so glad to see you in person after a few weeks," Tea tells me.

"Tell me about it. I need Tea time."

"And a bowl of soup," she adds.

"Oh yeah. I must have mentioned to you how the stress is affecting me. It's been making me queasy."

Inside it looked like a typical NYC deli. I was okay with that though. It was comforting. We sat down in a table close to the window. The sun beaming on our skin felt good. I did in fact order homemade chicken noddle, served in a bread bowl. Classic goodness. Tea ordered the tuna fish sandwich on fresh rye bread. It looked delicious, but the smell was rather strong.

"Why does that smell so weird?" I asked Tea.

"It's tuna salad. What do you expect?"

We get settled eating, and begin chatting.

"So, fill me in on what happened on your all expense trip paid to Italy?

"Tea, it was so bad. It was a train wreck."

"It couldn't possibly be that bad. Handsome man, private plane, new clothes, Italy."

"Having sex with him and less than hour later find out that his steady fling is pregnant."

"WHAT?! Shut up! You've got to be kidding me. How did that come about?!"

"Nadia decided to go on the trip after all. She showed up right after we had sex and dropped that announcement on me."

"That's some Jerry Springer crap."

"You know he had the audacity to send me a check in the mail for my time spent."

"Money for sex."

"He said no, but it definitely feels grimy. Nadia knew exactly what she wanted and how she could get it."

"Gold digger. Doesn't it bother you that he was raw dogging with the both of you?"

"Yes, Tea. I think I could throw up."

"Tell me about it. Disgusting."

"No, Tea, for real. That smell is getting to me. I gotta run to the bathroom."

"Okay, let me know if you need me."

I puked twice before leaving the deli. Once on the subway. Sorry to the old guy sitting beside me. Then another 5 times within 3 hours. By the evening my tummy troubles were better, but not gone. Probably some stupid germ I picked up from riding subway all the time. I was happy to be home in my comfy jammy jams. Time to read some books. My Friday night was pitiful compared to other people's, but it made me happy. Sometimes I would take breaks between chapters. I would catch a few bad reality tv series.

"Coming up....I was pregnant and didn't know it."

I never understood how that happened. Are you totally clueless? Do you not have any symptoms at all? Do you interpret symptoms as other things? The doc on TV said early signs of pregnancy include: increased appetite, weight gain, sensitivity to smells, bloating...

I turned it off after I heard those symptoms mentioned. I checked all the boxes. There's no freaking way...The only person it could be was Matt Bonner. Shit! No condom. I knew it would come back and haunt me. Maybe it was something else. I would schedule a doctor's appointment on Monday. I would have to borrow money from Tea again. I was starting to become a serious mooch.
