Chapter 53
Divorce Time
Chapter 53 Raleigh left PrimeStar and immediately dialed Vesta.
Vesta asked, âCharlene got a job at PrimeStar?â
âYeah.â Raleigh found it odd. âDidnât you know?â
Wasnât Charlene the reason she got pushed out to make room at PrimeStar?
âNo idea.â She thought Stewart didnât hire her to give Charlene a leg up.
So, had Charlene left the Henderson Group since she had joined PrimeStar?
âRaleigh paused, âWhat were those personal reasons you mentioned?â
Vesta didnât feel like going into detail. âJust some personal beefâ
âBut-â
âWhatâs up?â
He got it wrong. His departure had nothing to do with Vesta.
Thinking this, Raleigh couldnât help but ask, âHow capable is Charlene? I heard she didnât even get her PhD, She...â
âShe didnât just get her PhD. She only has a bachelorâs. She never went to grad school.â
âReally?â
âYeah.â Vestaâs tone was icy.
It was unexpected that Charlene had left the Henderson Group. But what surprised Vesta even more was that Charlene didnât consider furthering her education after leaving the Henderson Group. Instead, she got a job at another company through backdoor connections. She lacked ambition and vision.
Raleigh asked, âVesta, what are your plans now?â
Vesta said, âIâve got a big race ahead and must spend much time practicing. Iâll think about work stuff later.â
âOh, I see...â
*Yesta was good at everything, and Raleigh knew that. Sometimes, he wondered if she could keep up with her professional knowledge with all her activities. But then, knowing how exceptional Vesta was, he felt she was in a league of her own.
He figured if Vesta dared to do it, she must have had her reasons.
Meanwhile, over at Henderson Group, Thorne was going through some files and without even looking up, asked Coy, âGet me a coffee, will you?â
âRight away.â
It was Sunnyâs first time making coffee for Thorne, so she was excited and nervous. Following Charleneâs instructions to the letter, she carefully prepared the coffee, which Coy then delivered to Thorne.
Thorne set aside his files, picked up the coffee to stir gently, and brought it to his lips, only to hesitate. Something about the smell was off.
He hesitated, then took a small sip, only to set it down immediately. âBrew it again.â
Coy paused, âOkay.â
Sunny was puzzled. âBrew it again? Too much sugar, or was the taste not good? But I followed Charleneâs steps exactly and measured the sugar. It shouldnât be wrong.â
Coy looked helpless. âIâm not sure, either.â
Sunny had to brew another cup. Perhaps due to her nerves, Thorne didnât even taste this one. He sniffed it and set it aside, asking Coy, âWhatâs going on?â
Coy explained, âSunny might be nervous since itâs her first time making coffee for you, so she might not have gotten the heat right...â Thorne frowned. âSunny? Whoâs Sunny? Whereâs Charlene?â
Coy was shocked. âCharlene has left the company. Didnât you know?â
Thorne remained silent. He genuinely didnât know. He was aware of the incident about Charleneâs work attitude irking Coy, leading to talks of her dismissal.
But-
âWhen did she leave?â

Charlene had left, but it was likely for a few days only. He guessed it wouldnât be long before she came running back.
