Chapter 339
Divorce Time
Chapter 339 Chapter 339 Charlene looked at Stewart with an expression that was hard to read.
Stewart glanced over the papers and asked, âThe resume looks impressive, but howâs the actual talent?â
âQuite remarkable. Heâs been at it for less than two years, yet heâs already outpacing most PhD students.â
âReally? Sounds like a prodigy to me,â Stewart mused. âAre you thinking of keeping him on?â
âI am considering it, but...â
âYouâre worried heâll just up and leave?â
âExactly.â
Even though she could tell Gaylord was genuinely interested in CUAP and InfiniteâCM, there were other unpredictable factors about him.
âWe can always try him out for a bit. If it doesnât work, we let him go.â
Charlene nodded, âAlright.â
Meanwhile, Gaylord entered the arcade, his striking features, broad shoulders, and long legs commanding immediate attention.
A number of young women were tempted to approach him, but Gaylordâs tightly pressed lips and the aura of aloofness he exuded kept them at bay.
It wasnât long before his phone buzzed in his pocket.
As soon as he answered, the voice on the other end joked, âHow did the interview go? Did you charm that Charlene girl? Do you think she bought your âlove at first sightâ act? Hahaha!â
âIf you ask me, you should play it up a bit more, have her wrapped around your finger-â
Gaylord, his expression stoic, was about to respond when he noticed Vesta at the arcade entrance.
Seeing her, he said into the phone, âIâll have to call you back.â
âThere you are,â Vesta said as she approached him. âYou disappeared without saying anything, and it scared your sister out of her wits. We thought something had happened to you. Honestly, youâre...â
She stopped short of calling him reckless, noticing the defiant look in his eyes.
âI know why you came back,â Vesta continued. âIf youâre here for PrimeStarâs technology, Iâm all for it. But if youâre planning to toy with Charleneâs feelings to teach her a lesson for my sake, I wonât support it. My issues with her are mine alone; I donât want you getting involved.â
Gaylord met her gaze, silent, not even bothering to ask how she found him.
Vesta noticed he was staring at her for a bit too long. She touched her face with a smile, teasing, âIs there something on my face?â
He shook his head and looked away. âItâs nothing.â
âAbout what I said,â Vesta started again.
âI have to go,â Gaylord interrupted. Without another word, he turned and walked away, his long strides carrying him swiftly out of sight.
âGaylord, donât do anything foolish!â Vesta called after him, following as best she could.
Gaylord didnât answer and took the elevator down.
When he reached the ground floor, he saw Thorne sitting in a car nearby.

Gaylord glanced at him, then back at Vesta. âTake care,â he said abruptly. âGoodbye.â
Before Vesta could respond, he got into his car and drove off.
Watching him leave, Vesta frowned in concern.
The next day, Charlene arrived at the office to find a bouquet of flowers on her desk.
Before she could react, someone mentioned, âThe new guy in R&D, Gaylord, sent those.â
Charlene, unfazed, simply said, âAlright, noted.â
She casually set the flowers aside and focused on her work.
