Chapter 37
Mine
It has been four days, four days of hell for Roy. Kimberly has refused to see him or have anything to
do with him, which saddens and upsets him at the same time, causing him to lash out his frustration
on his pack members. He didnât mean to do any of that, but he desperately needed somewhere to
let out some steam as his wolf was slowly losing it. It so desperately wanted to go into Kimberly's
room to mark and claim her as his for days now, but Roy has been trying to contain his wolf's
yearning for its mate and it was beginning to take a toll on him.
He needs to talk to someone and get this torment out of his chest and he knows just the right
person to talk to.
With that final conclusion, he stood up from his study chair and headed for his bedroom to freshen
up. He didn't have an idea what his room looked like at the moment, as had deprived himself from
having a proper sleep for days. He hoped that after his visit, everything will go back to normal.
Alan just finished having breakfast Christine made. While he took out the dishes, Alan couldn't help
but wonder what his mate has been up to lately as she was hardly ever home for quite some time
now. She has been going out on a regular basis and he has been meaning to ask her what her
frequent outings were about, but with everything that has been happening lately, he couldn't find
the time to ask. He guess, it wasn't necessary at the moment because he has a bigger issue on his
plate.
He couldn't get any sleep all night as he kept wondering why Hailey decided to show up all of a
sudden, she was really eager to leave then, so why would she return after so many years.
What baffled him the most was, why was she in their pack and not the white moon pack where she
belonged. He was certain that Hailey wasn't aware of the events that took place after her departure,
so why did she chose to come here?
There are so many questions he wanted to ask her, but first, he needed to speak with Roy. He
couldn't understand why he had a member of the white moon pack under his care and decided to
keep it away from him. This is the first time Roy is hiding something from him.
Alan was brought out of his trance by a knock on his door, he quickly turned off the faucet and
wiped his hand with a towel before leaving the kitchen, to go get the door.
âUncle, are you busy?â Roy asked the moment his uncle opened the door.
To say Alan was surprised to see Roy was an understatement. Roy has never been to his place this
early, there must be something bothering him. Roy's presence was also to his advantage, as he
hadn't decided when he would have that conversation about Hailey with him. He just had to make
use of this sudden visit to do that.
"Good morning to you too, Roy.â Alan said, stepping aside for Roy to come in, but his nephew didn't
reply, he instead made himself comfortable on one of the couch.
âShould I get you something to drink?â Alan asked, using his fatherly voice, as he got the hint that
this wasn't the right time to bring up Haileyâs topic. He couldn't help but feel worried because he
has never seen his nephew this nervous.
Roy on the other hand, nodded a reply not trusting his voice at this point. He knew he could let his
guard down here, in his uncle's presence, as he was the only person he could reveal his emotions to.
But, he didn't think it was necessary today because what he needed now was a drink to help calm
his nerves, as he couldn't comprehend how he was really feeling right now, it seems his thoughts
were suddenly going numb.
âHere, have some coffee.â Alan said, breaking Roy's thought as he walked back into the living room
with two cups of coffee, handing one to Roy.
âThanks.â Roy murmured, taking the cup from his uncle.
They sat quietly for about ten minutes, Alan refusing to break the silence, giving his nephew all the
time he needed to get himself together and eventually open up to him about whatever was him.
Roy let out a heavy sigh, deciding to speak and not take anymore of his uncle's time.
âI think I've finally found my mate.â He suddenly said in barely a whisper. But, thanks to his wolf
senses, Alan heard what he said.
âYou think?..â he said, staring intently at Roy.
âI don't know. I really don't know... Every time I look at her, the feelings I get feels right but then
again, it feels wrong.â
âAnd why is that?â Alan asked.
Roy rubbed his hands over his face hoping it will help calm the confused state he was presently in.
âI feel like I'm betraying my family and the promise I made to myself... You understand any of that?â
Alan stayed quiet, letting his nephew continue, as he could tell that that wasn't all Roy wanted to
say.
âShe's human.â Roy finally confessed after much contemplation
Alan could tell, Roy was a bit disappointed, if not completely disappointment with the fact that his
mate was human, as he made the statement in what was barely a whisper.
âRoy, you should be thankful that you finally found your mate after so many of waiting.â His uncle
said, eventually voicing his opinion.
âYou don't get it, do you? She's a fucking human! How is she supposed to help me run the pack
when sheâs weak and defenseless?!â He yelled, his anger finally kicking in.
âThat is not for you to worry about.â Alan retorted.
âReally? Even when sheâs clueless about everything?... She hates me, uncle.â
"Although sheâs human, she is still your mate and would feel even the slightest bit of attraction
towards you.â
âNo, no, no, that's where you got it wrong. She hates me because I'm a werewolf and is in love with
a bloody human!â he countered, yelling the last part.
âAnd do you know the worse part? She's hiding something... I swear I slowed my healing but, I can't
just understand what happened.â
"What are you talking about?â Alan quickly asked in confusion as he couldn't make any sense with
what his nephew was mumbling about to himself.
âI had a cut the other day, so in other not to raise any suspicions I slowed my healing process. She
got worried and offered to dress it..."
âGo on, Roy." His uncle encouraged him.
âIt healed without my effort... it was like she used some sort of black magic, but I didn't catch a
scent of sorcery around her.â
This new information perked Alan's interest, who was more than ready to let Hugh's request wait a
while longer until he got to the bottom of this.
âTake me to her.â
