Chapter 27

Mine

Roy remained in his study after his discussion with his aunt.

Hours Earlier

“Roy, you called saying you needed my help. What's going on?” Christine asked as soon as she

arrived, giving Roy who looked stressed out a hug.

“I need you to take care of someone... There's a human in my house, her friends were murdered by

werewolves whom I suspect are from the white moon pack.”

"Oh my!” she exclaimed, feeling sorry for the human.

Christine thought about what Roy had just told her and realized that the human in question must be

the reason they heard his howls the night before.

Seeing a human has reminded him of his sister and he being the loving and caring alpha wouldn't

hurt the human in question. She could see the pain in his eyes but she could do nothing about it

because Roy hated it when anyone besides his uncle shows even the slightest bit of sympathy

towards him.

“Was that the reason we heard your painful howls last night?” Christine couldn't help but ask, just to

try her luck.

Roy was shocked at her realization.

“Roy, I know I'm in no position to tell you this and you probably arent going to like what I'm about

to say, but... humans go through the same pain and hurt as we do. You need to stop seeing all of

them the same way so you can let go of the grudge you have in there.” She carefully said, placing

her hand on his chest.

Roy was relieved to know that she wasn't a hundred percent correct. What his aunt just said was

part of the pain he was going through, but knowing that Kimberly would never love him back was

the top of the list.

What is he thinking right now?

It seems he’s becoming soft hearted because of this human who he isn’t sure is his mate. He didn't

like it one bit.

“Thank you.” He said to Christine's surprise.

Roy didn’t want the discussion going any further, so he doesn't accidentally give away his thought

of Kimberly being his mate. Like he said before, his wolf must've made a mistake and it's too early

to come to any conclusions.

“Take good care of her. Please”

"If that's all you want then you're talking to the right person” Christine replied, giving him a peck on

both his cheeks.

Roy couldn't get anything done after his discussion with Christine. He kept contemplating whether

or not to go see Kimberly and probably apologize for the way he acted towards her earlier. He knew

it was no fault of hers, she was only searching for him and somehow ended up in that room. He felt

bad for lashing out on her. He didn't like how frightened she looked when he was angry, so he

stood up and decided to go check on Kimberly, even though he was sure she was fine now that

Christine was here, when his phone suddenly rang making him groan

“Hello?” he said, sounding a bit irritated.

"A-alpha, I'm sorry to disturb you but we've got a problem.” His beta, Elijah apologized as he

realized that his call had somehow upset his alpha.

"What is it?" he asked, now in a calm voice.

"We found five dead bodies at the cabin on our border. They were all humans... Alpha, the council

has called for a meeting and your presence is needed.”

"And why is that?”

“They say the p-pack is growing w-weak.” Elijah stuttered.

“What about the bodies?” Roy asked to distract himself from getting mad because of the current

news he just received.

He couldnt understand why he felt the urge to make sure the dead bodies of Kimberly's friends

weren't treated like trash. He really wished he could do more to make her feel better because

watching her cry almost every time hurts him as much as it did her.

“I made sure the bodies were taken to the pack hospital.” Elijah replied.

Roy internally sighed in relief, proud to have Elijah as his beta.

"Okay, I'm on my way.” He assured before ending the call.

Kimberly was currently in the shower. After much persuasion from Christine, she had breakfast and

was now under the running water doing nothing besides thinking about Roy.

She realized not long ago that no matter how hard she tried to think about something else, she

couldn't as her thoughts were all about Roy and she had no idea why.

Is it because she got him upset and was desperately thinking of how to apologize to him?

Or, could it probably be because of how she in a way felt super safe whenever she was with him?

She closed her eyes to take her mind off Roy and enjoy the shower, when an image of her and Roy

making out under the shower flashed before her eyes, making her flinch. She immediately got out

of the shower and wrapped a towel around her body, leaving the bathroom in a hurry.

"Are you okay?" Christine asked with concern as she saw Kimberly rushed out of the bathroom.

Kimberly flinched at the sound of Christine's voice. She had totally forgotten that she was still here.

"Kimberly, you look pale. What's wrong?” she walked to Kimberly, taking her hand in hers.

Kimberly kept staring back at the bathroom, wondering why her thoughts towards that direction.

She sincerely didn’t think of him that way, so why did she see such an image?

“N-nothing.” She managed to say after minutes of silence.

"Are you sure?” Christine pressed, just to make sure. She earned a nod from Kimberly who was still

in a state of shock.

“I understand how you feel right now. I think a walk outside will be good for you.” She suggested to

Kimberly, stroking her hair and removing some of it out of her face.

Kimberly couldn't react to Christine's kindness. She wasn't used to a female figure treating her this

way, like a daughter because she grew up with only the love of a father .

Although, she wouldn't deny she was enjoying the attention Christine was giving her and wanted

more.

She wanted to know what it feels like to be loved and cared for by a mother, so she hugged

Christine, crying into the hug as she thought of her mom and what it would've been like to meet her

in person.
