Dragons Rage
King's Landing

Rhaenyras chambers
"I'm so proud of you, my little dragon." Rhaenyra happily said. She was playing with her 1 year old son who was playing with his toys.
Just then, Ser Criston entered Rhaenyras' room. "Princess." He greeted.
"Dada!" Daemion yelled at Ser Criston. Rhaenyras' eyes widened, but not because Daemion had just said his first word, but because he called Ser Criston his father.
"Apologies, Ser. He's been saying that to all the men the whole day." Rhaenyra quickly lied.
"The king has called for a meeting of the small council. I've been asked by the queen to fetch you." Ser Criston said.
"Of course." Rhaenyra stood up, and her 3 month pregnant belly was showing. She then looked at Daemion and kissed him on his head.
Elinda picked Daemion up, and the young prince started crying.
"Dada! Dada!" Daemion called out to Ser Criston as he and his mother left the room.
Driftmark
Ser Criston looked at Daemion and couldn't shake the feeling that the 11 year old boy was his son. He questioned everything. The timing of him laying with Rhaenyra. The timing of her pregnancy. These questions kept him up at night.
The royal family had arrived on Driftmark. It was a sad day for House Velaryon for the funeral of Laena had taken place. The men had tied ropes in the casket that held Laena and her unborn son. Vaemond Velaryon was saying his farewells to his niece. Baela and Rhaena were being comforted by their grandmother, and Laenor had been motionless. Saddened by his sisters passing.
"Ä«lon join tubÄ« rȳ se seat hen embar naejot commit laena hen lentor velaryon naejot se eternal waters, se dominion hen merlin dÄrys skoriot ziry jÄhor guard zȳhon syt ry se tubissa naejot mÄzigon." (We join today at the Seat of the Sea to commit Laena of house Velaryon to the eternal waters, the dominion of the Merlin King where He will guard her for all the days to come.) As Vaemond was speaking Rhaenys held Baela tightly as if she were Laena herself. "Hae ziry sets embar syt zirȳla mÅrÄ« voyage, se riña laena tÄmbi lanta true-born daughters va se rÄenion." (As she sets sail for her final voyage, the Lady Laena leaves two true-born daughters on the shore.) The Targaryen family stood in support of Daemon, Baela and Rhaena.
"Though pÅja muña kessa daor return hen zirȳla voyage, pÅnta mirre umbagon hÄnkirÄ« isse Änogar." (Though their mother will not return from her voyage, they all remain together in blood.) Otto, who was reinstated as Hand of the King, adjusted his collar.
"Lopor courses rȳ velaryon Änogar." (Salt courses through Velaryon blood.) Vaemond said as he turned to look at Rhaenyra and her 4 children with disgust. "Īlvon dakogon qumblie. Īlvon dakogon drÄje." (Ours runs thick. Ours runs true.) Everyone who could understand high valyrian not only knew what Vaemond was saying but they understood why he was saying it, and King Viserys noticed that Rhaenyra was uncomfortable "Se Ä«lvon Ädruta dÅrÄ« vasrie." (And ours must never thin.)
Daemon started to chuckle and took the attention from Rhaenyra to him. He hadn't had time to talk to Rhaenyra since he arrived because he was helping with the funeral arrangements. The Velaryon soldiers then pulled the ropes that were holding the casket so that it could slide down.
"Ãuha gentle niece. Kostagon se jelmior sagon hae kostÅba hae aÅha arlÄ«, aÅha seas hae gÄ«da hae aÅha spirit, se aÅha nets sagon hae lÄda hae aÅha prÅ«mia." (My gentle niece. May the winds be as strong as your back, your seas as calm as your spirit, and your nets be as full as your heart.) Vaemond continued his eulogy. Aegon looked uninterested. Alicent kept looking at Rhaenyra and her children.
"Hen se embar Ä«lon mÄstan. Naejot se embar Ä«lon kessa return." (From the sea we came. To the see we shall return.) The casket was released to fall into the waters. For now, Laena Velaryon was laid to rest.
Rhaenyra looked to her right and saw the Queen, her sworn protector looking at her with disgust.
Rhaenyra quickly walked to her left and saw her sons Jace, Luke, and Daemion. "Have either of you seen your father? She asked them, and Luke shook his head. "Your little cousins have lost their mother. They could use a kind word."
"I have an equal claim to sympathy." Jace said bitterly.
"Jace -" Rhaenyra tried.
"We should be at Harrenhall mourning Lord Lyonel and Ser Harwin." Daemion said.
"That would not be appropriate." She knelt down to her sons level. "The Velaryons are our kin, and the strongs are not. Look at me. Do you understand?"
"You cannot hide it for long, mother." Daemion then stormed off.
Rhaenyra watched as her oldest son walked away. Jace, see if you can find your father. Jacaerys nodded and walked off.
Tyland Lannister stood with his 16 year old daughter. They both looked at Aegon, and the young lady was disgusted that she was to marry him.
"At least try to look happy." Tyland said.
"I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea." Lynora Lannister said.
"Nora, please." Tyland begged.
"Nora? You must be desperate." Lynora chuckled.
"I've already gone to great lengths to arrange this match." Tyland said.
"Well I don't see any lost hands or feet on your part, but you expect me to allow this imbecile to put his cock inside my cunt and hope for a babe?" Lynora asked. "Need I remind you, father, if I am putting my life at risk as well because if Aegon succeeds and ascends the throne, my life and the lives of my future children will may be forfeit."
"I'll never let that happen, Nora." Tyland said. "Please go talk to Aegon."
"Very well." Lynora walked off to talk to Aegon.
Daemion watched as a spider crawled on Heleanas hand. He saw her lips move, but couldn't make out what she was saying. He finally decided to approach her.
"Were you talking to the spider?" Daemion asked and when Heleana looked at him, she smiled.
"No, I just spoke." Heleana said.
Daemion sat down with her. "Well, if you were talking to the spider, what would you say to it?"
"I would say that I'm sad my mother and brothers do not understand me, but I'm happy there's someone who does." Heleana blushed.
Daemion placed his hand on Heleanas and allowed the spider to crawl on him. "I would tell the spider that I'm to marry the most beautiful woman and I aim to do nothing, but love and protect her until my last breath." Daemion allowed the spider to crawl in the ground. He then stood up and helped Heleana to her feet. "If you wish, we could go for a flight. Auroth and Dreamfyre haven't flown since we've arrived here."
"I would like that, Daemion." Heleana smiled. The betrothed couple walked hand in hand to find their dragons.
Rhaenyra smiled as she saw her son and his betrothed leave. It bothered her that he didn't come to her and inform her of his whereabouts. She knew that her son figured out that his father wasn't Laenor, but Daemion still hasn't spoken to her about it. Her son was becoming more distant from her and it worried Rhaenyra.
Alicent watched her daughter and she's never seen Heleana smile unless Daemion was around. While she knew that Daemion was nothing more than a bastard, she loved seeing her daughter happy.
Night had fallen and the betrothed couple landed in the shores of Driftmark. They watched as the waves crashed.
"I dare say Dreamfyre is faster than Auroth." Heleana said.
"Well Auroth is older and he hasn't fought in a long time. I personally believe that when dragons fight they become stronger." Daemion argued.
"I believe that you're angry for losing against a girl." Heleana smirked.
"Perhaps. Or perhaps I was taking it easy in you because you're a girl." Daemion smirked.
On the further side of the shores Daemion saw his mother with Daemon Targaryen. Her hand was on his chest and they were kissing.
"Daemion. Daemion, I'm sorry." Heleana apologized.
"Let us leave them be." Daemion angrily stormed off.
Once Heleana caught up with Daemion she held his hand. "Are you alright?"
"I'd be lying if I said yes." Daemion said. "The worst part of it all is that I'm not surprised."
"Why?" Heleana asked.
"Heleana, look at me. I'm no silver haired Targaryen. I'm a bastard." Daemion sadly said.
"You're the future heir to the throne. Never forget that." Heleana said.
"When I asked how you felt about marrying me, I had hoped you'd decline the proposal." Daemion said.
"Daemion look at me. I don't care if your father isn't Ser Laenor. I choose you." Heleana said.
"There will be challenges. For us, for our children-" Daemion was cut off by Heleana.
"I choose you, Daemion Velaryon. You." Heleana cupped his face in her hands. Daemion the wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Are you sure?" Daemion asked.
"I am." Heleana moved up to kiss Daemion, but they were interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Princess?" Ser Criston called out. "Your mother, the queen wishes to see you. There's been a fight between your brother Aemond." Ser Criston looked at Daemion. "And your brother Jacaerys, and Lucerys."
"Has anyone been injured?" Daemion asked.
"Come princess." Ser Criston ignored Daemion. Heleana the walked with the Kingsguard knight and Daemion followed soon after.
Hall of Nine
Viserys was sitting on the driftwood throne, watching as Alicent held Aemonds hand while his eye was stitched up by Driftmarks maester.
"How could you allow such a thing to happen?" The king asked. "I will have answers."
"The children were supposed to be in bed, my king." Lord commander Harrold said.
"Who had the watch?" Viserys asked.
"The young prince was attacked by his own nephews, your grace." Criston said.
Jace was holding his Luke and Daemion stood in front of hos brothers, ready to protect them. Heleana were standing with Alicent and lady-in-waiting. The king saw how terrified his grandchildren were.
"You swore oaths to protect and defend my blood!" The king yelled.
"I'm very sorry your grace." Lord commander Harrold apologized.
Thinking he's untouchable Ser Criston decided to interject. "The Kingsguard has never had to defend princes from princes your grace."
"That is no answer!" Viserys shouted and got in his face.
Alicent was full of concern and the maester stitched her son up. "It will heal, will it not maester?" She asked.
Everyone waited for maester Kelvyns answer. "The flesh will heal, but the eye is lost, your grace." Alicent took a deep breath in shock by what she just heard and Viserys sighed and lowered his head.
"Where were you?" Alicent asked Aegon.
"Me?" Aegon inquired, and his mother slapped him and Heleana turned away not wanting to see the violent act. "Ow. What was that for?"
"That was nothing compared to the abuse your brother suffered while you were drowning in your cups you fool." Alicent scolded.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Corlys asked as he and Rhaenys decended from the steps.
"Rhaena, Baela. What happened?" Rhaenys asked.
Corlys looked at the carnage that had been caused between the children. Baela and Rhaena were sobbing but they were comforted by Rhaenys.
Just then, Rhaenyra entered with Daemon. "Daemion? Jace? Luke?" She hurried to her children. "Show me. Show me." She saw Jace' bloodied face and Luke's broken nose. Her sons were bleeding and she was furious. "Who did this?"
"They attacked me!" Aemond said.
Jace intervened. "He attacked Baela!"
"He stole my mother's dragon!" Baela yelled.
"From what I heard, Aemond could've killed them and he almost killed Luke!" Daemion yelled.
The children were shouting and and the adults could not make out what was being said.
"Enough." Viserys said weakly.
"I didn't do anything!" Aemond said
"Enough!" Viserys tried again a little louder.
"It should be my son telling the tale!" Alicent yelled.
"He called us-" Jace tried.
"Silence!" Viserys yelled and finally maintained order.
"He called us bastards." Jace whispered to his mother and Rhaenyra got up and looked at her younger half-brother in anger. Daemion also balled up his fist.
"Aemond I will have the truth of what happened, all of it right now." King Viserys demanded.
"What else is there to hear? Your son has been maimed. Her sons are responsible." Alicent came to the defense of her son.
"It was a regrettable accident." Rhaenyra said.
"Accident?" Alicent scoffed. "The Prince Lucerys brought a blade to the ambush. He tried to kill my son."
"It was my son's who were attacked, and forced to defend themselves." Rhaenyra countered as well. Vile insults were levied against them."
"What insults?" Viserys asked curiously.
Rhaenyra sighed. "The legitimacy of my children's birth was put loudly to question." This angered Daemion even more.
"What?" Viserys asked.
"He called us bastards." Jace told the king and Aemond smirked.
"My sons are in line to inherit the Iron Throne, your grace. This is the highest of treason." Daemon smirked at Rhaenyras boldness. "Prince Aemond must be sharply questioned so that we might learn where he heard such slanders." Rhaenyra insisted.
"Over an insult?" Alicent asked. "My son has lost an eye."
Viserys then walked to Aemond. "Aemond, tell me where you heard this lie."
Alicent feared for her sons life at this point. "The insult was churning out bluster, the lot of boys. It was nothing."
Viserys ignored his wife. "Aemond look at me. Your king demands an answer."
"Where is Ser Laenor? I wonder the children's father, perhaps he might have something to say in this matter?" Alicent asked trying to take the attention away from her son.
"Yes, where is Ser Laenor?" The King asked.
"I do not know, your grace. I... I could not find sleep." Rhaenyra said. "I'd gone out to walk."
"Fucking liar." Daemion whispered and unfortunately his mother heard it.
"Entertaining his young squires I'd venture." Lady Ceira said. Ser Criston chuckled and Lord commander Harrold looked at him which made him stop.
"Aemond I'm waiting." Viserys said.
Aemond heard that Rhaenyras children are illegitimate from his mother. He then looked at her and everyone including the King looked at the Queen. "It was Aegon." Aemond said.
"Me?" Aegon asked surprisingly.
Viserys the walked to Aegon. "And you...boy, where did you hear such calumnies?" Viserys asked. "Aegon! Tell me the truth of it."
Aegon took a deep breath. "We know father, everyone knows. Just look at them. None of them look like Ser Laenor."
Viserys looked at Rhaenyras children and then at Rhaenyra. She had tears in her eyes. The king them looked at hos eldest grandchild, Daemion. He loved him so much.
"This interminable infighting must cease! All of you! We are a family! Now make your apologies and show goodwill to one another. Your father, your grandsire, your King demands it!" Viserys demanded and walked past Alicent who was shocked that once again Viserys favored his child from his first marriage. She knew that he did not love her or show much affection for her children but this time Rhaenyra was in the wrong.
"That is insufficient. Aemond has been damaged, permanently my king. Goodwill cannot make him whole." Alicent pointed out.
"I know Alicent, but I cannot restore his eye." Viserys pointed out.
"No because it's been taken." Alicent retorted.
"What would you have me do?" Viserys asked.
"There is a debt to be paid." Alicent looked at Rhaenyra. "I shall have one of her sons eyes in return."
"My dear wife-" Viserys tried.
"He's your son Viserys. Your blood." The Queen reminded him with tears in her eyes.
"Do not allow your temper to guide your judgement." Viserys warned Alicent.
The Queen did not stop. "If the king will not seek justice, the queen will." She looked at her sworn protector. "Ser Criston, bring me the eye of Lucerys Velaryon."
"Alicent." Viserys warned again.
"Mother!" Lucerys hid behind Rhaenyra.
"If he tries it, I'll kill him myself." Daemion spat.
"Lucerys can choose which eye can choose. I'll grant them that courtesy, or perhaps you should take his place, Daemion." Alicent boldly suggested.
"You will do no such thing." Rhaenyra told Ser Criston.
"Stay your hand." Viserys commanded.
"No, your sworn to me!" Alicent shouted. "Bring me Daemion Velaryons eye." This made Heleana gasp.
Ser Criston looked at Alicent. "As your protector my queen." He was conflicted. While he wanted to serve the queen, he thought more and more than Daemion could be his son.
Viserys walked to his wife. "Alicent, this matter is finished. Do you understand?" He warned her one last time. "And let it be known, anyone who's tongue dares to question the birth of Princess Rhaenyras children shall have it removed."
"Thank you father." Rhaenyra said.
Something inside Alicent had snapped for the last thirteen years she had try to be a good daughter, wife and mother. Her father, and husband had a leash on her and she couldn't break free. Until today... She rushed to Viserys and took his dagger. She then turned to either take Lucerys' or Daemions eye, but she was going to get justice for her son.
"Alicent!" Viserys yelled.
"Your grace!" Lord commander Harrold yelled. "Stay with the King!" He comannded the rest of the Kingsguard. "Hold your approach!"
Rhaenyra was tending to her children, and when she turned she immediately held Alicents wrist so that she couldn't stab him. Criston rushed to the Queens aid.
"Do not Ser Criston!" Harrold said as he also rushed.
"Alicent!" Viserys yelled. The children were screaming but were held back by Rhaenys, and Corlys.
Ser Criston was stopped by Daemon. "Stay your hand, Cole." Lord commander Harrold said.
"You've gone to far." Rhaenyra said.
"I? What have I done, but what was expected of me. Forever upholding the kingdom, the family, the law. While you flout in all to do as you please!" Alicent yelled at Rhaenyra.
"Alicent let her go!" Viserys commanded.
"Where is duty where is sacrifice?!" Alicent asked. "It's trampled under your pretty foot again."
"Release the blade Alicent." Otto told his daughter.
"And now her son takes my sons eye with your sons help and to even that you feel entitled!" Alicent spat
"Must've been exhausting. Hiding beneath the cloak of your own righteousness, but now the world can see you as you are." Rhaenyra let go of Alicents wrist and as she let go the strength Alicent had used to push Rhaenyra came down and the dagger slit Rhaenyras forearm.
Everyone was silent. The Queen had cut the Heir to the throne. Rhaenyra herself did not even feel the cut until he felt his blood run down his hand.
Aemond walked to his mother. "Do not mourn me mother, it was a fair exchange. Everyone's attention turned to the boy. I may have lost an eye... but I gained a dragon." Otto smirked. Now the greens had a powerful dragon on their side.
"This proceeding is at an end." Viserys said.
Daemion saw Daemon holding his mother's arm. He then walked to Heleana which surprised the Blacks. Daemion took Heleanas hand and instead of choosing the side of Black or Green, they stood in the middle.
