Unyielding

Dragons Rage

King's Landing

6 years later

"Try all you want, Jace, you can't catch me!" A 6 year old Daemion Velaryon shouted. His 5 year old brother Jace was chasing him in the Red Keep. They would always play together, and Daemion loved the fact that he had a brother.

"I'll get you!" A 5 year old Aemond shouted as he appeared in front of Daemion, but Daemion easily evaded him.

"Nice try!" Daemion said. He looked behind him and laughed at the boys. When he looked in front of him, he saw armor. It was too late to stop, and Daemion hit his head against the armor. "Ow!" He rubbed his head.

"Get up." Daemion heard a familiar voice, and when he looked up, he saw Ser Criston Cole.

"My apologies, Ser Criston. The three of us were playing, and I didn't see where I was going." Daemion chuckled.

"Next time, watch where you're going. Enough of this roughhousing. You have training. All of you." Ser Criston walked away. Aemond and Jacaerys helped Daemion up.

"He's always mean to me. I don't know why." Daemion said.

"You should tell Mother." Jace suggested.

"I did, and mother told me that I shouldn't pay any mind to it and that he's a grumpy old man." The boys laughed.

Training yard

Daemion, Jace, Aegon, and Aemond were training in the training yard. Daemion was fascinated by knights who were training around him.

"Your enemy is in front of you." Ser Criston told Daemion.

"I'm sorry, Ser Criston." Daemion apologized.

"Stop apologizing." Ser Criston commanded. "Archery. Now." Daemion picked up his bow and arrows. He then aimed at the straw dummy, which was 10 feet away from him. "Nock." Daemion nocked his arrow into the bow string. "Draw." Daemion drew his arrow. "Loose!" Daemion let his arrow loose, and it hit its mark.

"I did it!" Daemion yelled, and the crowd applauded at the young prince.

"Step back 5 paces." Ser Criston said. Daemion did what he was told. "Now try again. Nock. Draw. Loose!" Daemion fired his arrow, and it hit its mark again. The crowd applauded, but Ser Criston was seething. He then walked to Daemion and removed all his arrows from his quiver but left only two arrows. He roughly turned the boy to his left. Daemion saw three straw dummies that were 20 feet away from him. "Three targets. Two arrows. What will you do now?"

"Perhaps that is enough for today." Ser Harwin said.

"No, Ser Harwin. I want to try." Daemion insisted.

"Very well." Harwin said, and Ser Criston glared at him.

Daemion took a few steps back and took a deep breath as he pulled out his arrow and nocked. He then drew the arrow and let it loose. He immediately pulled out the second arrow and nocked and loosened the second arrow as well. The second arrow was faster than the first. The second arrow reached the first arrow and split the first arrow in two. The now divided first arrow hit the left and right straw dummy while the second arrow hit the middle straw dummy.

The yard was silent. Suddenly, someone started clapping. Daemion turned to see Ser Harwin applauding to what he had done.

"Well done!" Ser Harwin yelled. Ser Criston himself was shocked.

"Thank you, Ser. I have to tell my grandsire and father." Daemion immediately ran back inside and threw the bow at Ser Criston, who caught it.

Viserys' chambers

"Are we going to talk about it?" Alicent asked.

"About what?" Viserys inquired.

"Rhaenyra and her sons." Alicent spat.

"What of them?" Viserys asked.

Before Alicent could say anything, the doors burst open, and Daemion entered the room.

"Grandsire! I shot three straws with two arrows!" The 6 year old yelled.

"Slow down, Daemion. Start from the beginning." Viserys said.

"I was in the training yard, and Ser Criston wanted to test my archery. I made every shot, but then he wanted me to shoot three straw dummies with only two arrows. Ser Harwin tried to protest, but I wanted to see if I could do it." Daemion explained.

"Impressive, my prince." Ser Harrold praised.

"It seems all those times that you and the Lord commander go hunting in the Kingswood have finally paid off." Viserys chuckled.

"I split the first arrow in half, and it parted ways to hit the two dummies in the left and right while the second arrow hit its mark in the middle." Daemion said.

"I'm proud of you, my grandson." Viserys said.

"As am I, my prince." Ser Harrold said.

"Very well done, my prince." Queen Alicent said. She knew that Ser Criston hated Rhaenyra and her sons, so this was not meant to be a test but a punishment. Luckily, Daemion was too young to understand.

"I only wish I had a dragon." Daemion sadly said.

"You will have a dragon, my boy. Even if I have to get one myself." Viserys said.

"Thank you, grandsire." Daemion smiled.

"Run along and tell your mother what you have achieved." Viserys said, and Daemion quickly left the room. "He's always full of light, that boy." Viserys praised his grandson.

"Yes, he is, your grace." Ser Harrold agreed. Alicent left the room in anger.

Rhaenyras chambers

Rhaenyra watched as her handmaiden tended to her youngest son, Lucerys, while Laenor was out drinking with his lover.

"Mother!" Daemion entered the room.

"Shhh. My sweetling, your brother is asleep." Rhaenyra whispered.

"Sorry." Daemion whispered. "I wanted to tell you that my arrows hit its mark."

Rhaenyra chuckled. "I'm so proud of you, my little warrior."

"Where is Father?" Daemion asked.

"He's out with a friend." Rhaenyra said. For the past 6 years, Rhaenyra had the realm believe that Daemion is Laenors son, and she was also able to convince Harwin that Daemion was his son.

"When will I have a dragon, mother?" Daemion asked as he sat next to Rhaenyra.

"Soon. I think you're just impatient to wait for your dragons egg to hatch." Rhaenyra said.

"But Jace' dragon egg has already hatched." Daemion pointed out.

"Some take longer than most, my darling." Rhaenyra said. "Make sure you pack what you need for when we go to Dragonstone."

"I will, mother." Rhaenyra then kissed the top of Daemions head and watched as he left her room.

Dragonstone

Rhaenyra and her family arrived on Dragonstone, and the first thing they did was eat.

Daemion was in awe. He had never been to Dragonstone before, but it was as if he didn't want to leave.

Night had fallen, and everyone was asleep. Everyone except for Damion. He ventured around the castle, evading the guards. He walked all the way to the dragonmont and saw Vermithor and Silverwing eating some fresh goats.

"Skoros issi ao doing kesīr?" (What are you doing here?) A dragonkeeper asked. He tried to grab Damion, but the boy quickly evaded him and ran off. The dragonkeeper alerted Ser Laenor and Princess Rhaenyra.

Daemion ran until he was at the eastern side of Dragonstone. The boy saw a cave and decided to enter it. Once he made his first step, he fell down, and when he looked at what he fell on, he saw the cave was littered with bones.

"Hello?" Daemion called out to anyone. He then heard a low growl. Daemion saw the glowing green eyes of the black dragon. He had heard stories about a dragon that's said to be one of the largest dragons in history. The dragon then moved forward to eat the intruder that he smelt. Daemion closed his eyes, preparing for the worst. When he opened them, the dragons lower mouth was next to his body. Daemion looked behind him and saw that this dragon was trying to get to the dragon eggs. "Oh.  Īlē merbugon." (Oh. You were hungry.) The little boy ran to the eggs and rolled it to the Cannibal. The green eyed black dragon then feasted on the eggs. Damion noticed that the Cannibal was chained around his neck. He then picked all the bones and built a hill with it. The 6 year old climbed on the bone and tried to free the Cannibal. He pulled as hard as he could, and when the big screw finally went loose, Daemion fell back but landed on the Cannibals wing. "Kirimvose." (Thank you.) He smiled. The Cannibal then sniffed Daemion again and lowered his neck. Daemion smiled and climbed on to the Cannibal. Once Daemion was on top of the dragon, he noticed that there was no saddle. He then gripped one of his spikes. "Ivestragī īlva sōvegon!" (Let us fly!) Daemion commanded.

The Cannibal took a few steps forward until he was out of his cave. The wild dragon picked up speed, and within seconds, he flew with his new rider. Daemion enjoyed every second of this. He finally had a dragon, and it was the largest of the wild dragons. When they finally landed, Rhaenyra and Laenor rushed to Daemion.

"Ñuha valītsos! issi ao ōdrikagon?" (My boy! Are you hurt?) Rhaenyra asked.

"Iksan unharmed, muña, yn nyke finally claimed iā zaldrīzes. Māzigon ūndegon!." (I'm unharmed, mother, but I finally claimed a dragon. Come see!) Daemion pulled his mother by her arm to see the Cannibal. Laenor also followed them.

"H... how?" Laenor asked in shock when he saw the mighty beast that feeds on his own.

"He was hungry, so I fed him." Daemion simply said.

"He was chained for a reason, Daemion." Rhaenyra pointed out. "You set him free."

"You could've doomed us all!" Laenor shouted.

"Laenor! Enough!" Rhaenyra yelled at her husband. "Your father meant that you should've been more careful with my son and not trying to claim a dragon without supervision."

"I only tried to help the Cannibal. I'm sorry." Daemion apologized.

Laenor sighed, realizing that he was shouting at a child who didn't know any better. "It's alright, but as your mother said, the next time, be more careful."

"I will." Daemion said.

"Ziry iksos remarkable bona iā valītsos hen 6 jēdri iksin able naejot claim.... se Cannibal." (It's remarkable that a boy of 6 years was able to claim.... the Cannibal.) Rhaenyra smirked

Daemion, Jace, and Luke's room

An 11 year old Daemion Velaryon was just brought back into his room with his brothers by Ser Harwin Strong. Daemion dragged his brothers to the dragonpit to find an egg for Rhaenyra new baby but were stopped by Harwin. Luckily, the dragonkeepers managed to get an egg and gave it to the boys.

"Mother!" Daemion happily greeted as he saw Rhaenyra enter the room with Laenor and the new baby.

"Look. We chose an egg for the baby." Jacaerys said.

"Ah, that looks like the perfect one." Rhaenyra said as Ser Harwin helped Rhaenyra sit down.

"I let Jace and Luke choose." Daemion said.

"Thank you, Daemion." Luke said.

"Not every day an egg leaves the dragonpit, princess. I thought it best to escort the lads myself." Ser Harwin said.

"Ser Laenor and I thank you, commander." Rhaenyra said.

Ser Harwin looked at Laenor, holding his son. "Another boy, I heard." He looked at Rhaenyra, and she smiled, which Daemion noticed. "Might I?"

"Ser Harwin wishes to be introduced to Joffery." Rhaenyra told Laenor.

"Of course." Laenor said and handed Joffery to Harwin.

"Joffery, is it?" Harwin asked.

"Father, may I hold Joffery." Luke asked Laenor.

"No, no, no." Laenor said, and Harwin held the boys back as well. "Back to the dragonpit for you two. Before they send a search party." Laenor left the room with Jace and Luke.

"Come on. Come on!" Luke protested.

"I'm going to see Auroth." Daemion said. He renamed the Cannibal after claiming him 6 years ago.

"Have Ser Lorent accompany you, and please be safe." Rhaenyra said.

"I will." Daemion left the room.

Kingwood

Daemion flew on his dragon Auroth 5o the Kingswood he had Ser Lorent carry clutch of dead eggs and dead dragonlings for Auroth to eat. Over the past six years, Auroth, formerly called the Cannibal had grown bigger in size. Auroth was too big for the dragonpit, and too dangerous to keep around other dragons, so during the day, Auroth would be fed in the Kingswood by Daemion, and at night he would sleep outside the city gates or in his personal cave.

"Pār nyke've grown bē, nyke've rhēdan noticing ra." (Since I've grown up, I've started noticing things) Daemion told Auroth. "Nyke ūndegon skorkydoso ñuha muña loves īlva.  Skorkydoso ziry'd zālagon se vys syt īlva.  Nyke ūndegon skorkydoso skorkydoso ñuha muña se ser harwin jurnegon rȳ each tolie.  Nyke sesīr ūndegon skorkydoso ñuha kepa looks rȳ tolie vali.  yn se qubāje run bona nyke've ūndegīon iksis bona laenor isn't ñuha drēje kepa.  Iksan iā nādrēsy, auroth.  Īlon're mirre bastards." (I see how my mother loves us. How she'd burn the world for us. I see how my mother and Ser Harwin look at each other. I even see how my father looks at other men... but the worst thing that I've seen is that Laenor isn't my true father. I'm a bastard, Auroth. We're all bastards.) Daemion sighed. "Iksan worried nūmāzma skoros ñuha muña kessa gaomagon istin pōnta find hen." (I'm worried about what my mother will do once they find out). Auroth growled as he ate the dragon carcass. "Nyke'd hae se īby skori ao sagon tetan.  Jaelan naejot mazverdagon mirros syt heleana.  Nyke've noticed skorkydoso pretty issa.  Nyke ȳdra daor gīmigon skoros's jāre va lēda nyke.  Īlon gaomagon naejot tymagon isse se mele gaomagon daor tolī naenie jēdri jikagon, se sir nyke kostagon daor string lanta udra naejot zirȳla mijegon stuttering." (I'd like the bone when you're finished. I want to make something for Heleana. I've noticed how pretty she is. I don't know what's going on with me. We used to play in the Red Keep not too many years ago, and now I can't string two words to her without stuttering).

"Forgive me, my prince, but it's time for your lessons with your grandsire." Ser Lorent said.

"Ah. I've been here longer than expected." Daemion picked up some of the bones, and Auroth glared at him. "Nyke gōntan ivestragon nyke jeldan naejot gaomagon se bones.  Besides ao iēdrosa emagon tolī morghe drōma naejot ipradagon rȳ lenton." (I did say I wanted to use the bones. Besides, you still have more dead eggs to eat at home). Daemion then mounted Auroth and flew back to the Red Keep. Auroth flew back to his own personal lair.

Viserys chambers

"Do not speak of it again." Viserys told Alicent. She had stormed into the kings chambers and told him that Jace and Luke bullied Aemond. She failed to mention that it was Aegon who put the younger boys up to it. The queen also mentioned that everyone can see that none of Rhaenyras sons are from Laenors seed.

"Grandfather!" Daemion burst into the kings chambers. "Apologies. I didn't know you were busy. Good morrow, your grace." The boy greeted Alicent.

"Good morrow, Prince Daemion." Alicent greeted. "The king and I were talking."

"But we're finished now." Viserys sternly told Alicent. He then smiled at his firstborn grandson. Alicent then stormed out of the room. "What do you have there?" The king asked.

"I collected this from Auroth. It's the bones of the dragons he feasted on. I wish to make you something, and I also wish to make something for someone else." Daemion said.

"Someone else?" Viserys inquired.

"I've started looking at a girl. She's kind and beautiful. She has a good heart." Daemion smiled.

"My boy. I dare say that you are in love." Viserys chuckled. "Does this girl have a name?"

"She does, but can I tell you her name after I talk to her?" Daemion asked.

"Of course. I'm happy that you wish to speak to me." Viserys said.

"Can you help me make a frame for her?" Daemion asked. "She collects things, and I'd like to have a place it in the frame. Mayhaps she can hang it in her rooms."

"Of course." Viserys said. The grandfather and grandson spent most of the day making this gift. Viserys loved his grandsons. He didn't care about the rumors.
