Chapter 12

Raging Storm

Dragons Rage

The next morning

Daemion and Heleanas chambers

Daemion smiled as he saw Heleanas naked back turned at him. He slowly moved and traced his fingers on her shoulder and started kissing it.

"This defeats the purpose of sleeping in." Heleana said.

"Well, forgive me for being enchanted by your beauty." Daemion continued kissing her shoulder. "How are you feeling?"

"I should be asking you that question." Heleana said. She knew today was difficult for her husband, and she hated seeing him sad.

"I'm worried about our family. I'm worried about Jace. I'm worried about the king. I'm worried about my mother." Daemion said. "I wish there was a way to avoid all of this."

Heleana carefully turned to face Daemion. "Sometimes the most difficult choices are the right ones."

"I know. I just want to run away sometimes. I want to take you and our children somewhere far away from all this plotting and scheming." Daemion said.

Heleana smiled. "One day all this will be a thing of the past, and we will be together and happy." They heard a knock on the door.

"Heleana. It's your mother." Alicent said.

"We're not dressed." Heleana said.

Daemion sighed. "It was fun while it lasted." He kissed Heleana on her forehead. They took a bath together and quickly got dressed. "I'll see you at the petition." Daemion opened the door and saw Alicent. "Your grace." He greeted.

"Prince Daemion." Alicent greeted back.

"I'll take my leave. I need to see my brothers." Daemion said, and once Alicent entered the room, he left.

"My daughter." Alicent happily greeted.

"Mother." Heleana greeted back.

"I'm sorry I couldn't see you yesterday. I was busy." Alicent said.

"I understand." Heleana said.

"Where's your daughter?" Alicent asked.

"Rhaenyra is watching over her with Elinda." Heleana replied.

"You never told me that you were pregnant. Was it Daemion who convinced you to denounce your mother?" Alicent inquired.

"Daemion insisted on telling you, but I was the one who didn't want you to know." Heleana said.

This shocked Alicent. "Why?"

"Because you would've tried once again to have me leave Dragonstone and live with you." Heleana pointed out.

"Heleana-" The Hightower queen was cut off by her daughter.

"Don't deny it." Heleana said. "You've always wanted me away from Daemion. You wanted it since Father betrothed us, but you refuse to see how happy I am. How much I love him. "

"I only wanted to protect you." Alicent said.

"You wanted to control me." Heleana said. "Hours before my wedding, you told me that Daemion is a bastard, but I don't care about Daemions parentage. I won't leave him, mother. Not now. Not ever."

Jace, Luke, and Jofferys chambers

"Are you ready?" Daemion asked Jace.

"No." Jace replied.

"You will be." Luke said.

"Regardless of the out of this petition, I'm going to be here for you, Jace." Daemion said.

"As will I." Luke smiled at Jace.

Just then, Rhaenyra entered her sons rooms.

"It's time." The realms delight said.

Throne room

Otto Hightower stood at the Iron Throne,

Alicent and his family stood at his right, and Rhaenyra and his family stood with the court on his left.

"Though it the great hope of this court that Lord Corlys Velaryon survive his wounds...we gather here with a grim task, of dealing with the succession of Driftmark. As Hand, I speak with the kings voice in this, and all other matters." Ser Otto said and sat down on the throne. "The crown will now hear the petitions. Ser Vaemond of House Velaryon." He called.

Ser Vaemond stepped forward. "My Queen." He greeted Alicent. "My Lord Hand." He greeted Otto. "The history of our noble houses extend beyond the Seven Kingdoms to the days of Old Valyria, for as long as House Targaryen has ruled the skies, House Velaryon have ruled the sea. When then doom fell on Valyria, our houses became the last of their kind. Our forebears came to this new land, knowing that they were to fail. It would be the end of their bloodlines and their name. I have spent my entire life on Driftmark defending my brothers seat, I am Lord Corlys' closest kin, his own blood, the true and impeachable blood of House Velaryon runs through my veins-" Ser Vaemond was interrupted by Rhaenyra.

"As it does my sons, the offspring of Laenor Velaryon. If you cared so much about your houses blood, Ser Vaemond, you would not be so bold as to supplant its rightful heir. No, you only speak for yourself and your own ambition -" Rhaenyra was cut off by Alicent.

"You'll have a chance to make your own petition, Princess Rhaenyra. Do Ser Vaemond the courtesy of allowing his to be heard." Alicent said.

Rhaenyra was immediately silent, and Daemion was seething. Ser Vaemond then turned to face Rhaenyra and had a smug look on his face. "What do you know of Velaryon blood, Princess? I could cut my veins and show it to you, and you still would not recognize it. This is about the future of my house, not yours." He then turned to face Alicent. "My Queen, my Lord Hand, this is a matter of blood, not ambition. I place the continuation of the survival of my house and my line above all. I humbly put myself before you as my brothers successor, the Lord of Driftmark, and Lord of the Tides." He finished.

"Thank you, Ser Vaemond." Otto said, and Vaemond walked to the right side of the court. "Princess Rhaenyra, you may now speak for your son, Jacaerys Velaryon."

Rhaenyra then stepped forward. "If I am to grace this farce with some answer, I will start by reminding the court that nearly twenty years ago, in this very-" Rhaenyra was cut off by the doors opening.

"King Viserys of House Targaryen, The first of his name, King of the Andals, and the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the realm!" Ser Erryk announced and the King walked slowly to his throne, he was grunting wne groaning with every step, but he was determined to make things right between his family, he's had enough of the fighting and it started with him getting up those steps and sitting on his throne, when he got close enough he looked to his left at his eldest grandson, Daemion. He loved him so much. The king got to the steps of his throne and looked at Otto

"I will sit the throne today." Viserys wheezed.

"Your grace." Otto bowed his head

The king was exhausted, and Ser Arryk tried to help the king. "I'll be fine. I'll be fine." He dismissed the Kingsguard knight. He made it up two steps, and his crown fell off his head, and he was breathing heavily from exhaustion.

Viserys saw a hand pick up his crown. Viserys looked to his right and saw Daemon.

"Come on." Daemon urged.

Viserys was happy. His brother had come to his aid. Daemon helped him, and  the king sat on his throne, and the rogue prince put the kings crown on his head. Viserys looked at his brother, who looked at him with sadness. Daemon walked down the steps of the throne to his family.

The king sat back and addressed the court. "I must...admit...my confusion, I do not understand why petitions are being heard over a settled succession, the only one present who might offer keener into Lord Corlys' wishes, is the princess Rhaenys" The king said, and Alicent sighed. She knew that this petition was lost the moment his her husband showed up.

"Indeed, your grace." Rhaenys stepped forward. "It was ever my husband's will that driftmark pass through Ser Laenor... to his true-born son... Jacaerys Velaryon. His mind never changed, and neither did my support of him. As a matter of fact, Princess Rhaenyra has just informed me of her desire to marry her sons Jace and Luke to Lord Corlys' granddaughters, Baela and Rhaena A proposal to which I heartily agree."

"Well, the matter is settled, again... I hereby reaffirm Prince Jacaerys of House Velaryon... as heir to Driftmark, the Driftwood Throne, and the next Lord of the Tides." The king said, and Rhaenyra was happy. Her children were safe thanks to her father.

Vaemond, on the other hand, was angry. His sister-in-law betrayed him, and driftmark would pass to an... illegitimate boy. "You break law and centuries of tradition to install your daughter as heir, but you dare to tell me who inherits the name Velaryon? No, I will not allow it." He firmly said.

"Allow it? Do not forget yourself, Vaemond." The king warned.

Vaemond was breathing heavily and pointed at Jace. "That is no true Velaryon! And certainly no nephew of mine."

"Go to your chambers." Rhaenyra said to her sons, and she looked at Vaemond. "You have said enough."

"Jacaerys is my true-born grandson, and you are nothing more than a second son of Driftmark." Viserys said.

"You may run your house as you see fit... but you will not decide the future of mine! My house survived the doom and a thousand tribulations besides, and gods be damned...I will not see it ended on the account of this..." He paused for a second.

Daemon smirked. "Say it." He dared Ser Vaemond.

Vaemond smirked. "Her children are BASTARDS!" The crowed gasped. Vaemond then turned to the king. "And she...is...a whore."

This angered Viserys. The king then unsheathed his dagger. "I...will have your tongue for that."

Suddenly half of Ser Vaemonds head was cut off by Daemon wielding Dark Sister, Ser Vaemond then fell down, dead with his tongue still sticking out. Everyone was in shock by Daemons action, everyone except the people who knew how Daemon is.

Daemon smirked at the dead body. "He can keep his tongue."

"Disarm him!" Otto ordered and the guards unsheathed the swords at Daemon.

"No need." Daemon cleaned his sword and sheathed it.

Viserys was groaning in pain as he sat back down on the throne.

"Father!" Rhaenyra called out in worry.

"Call the maester!" Alicent commanded. She then ran to the king "Please, my love. You must take something for the pain."

"I will not cloud my mind. I must make things right. Viserys insisted. "I must tell Daemion..." The king sat back on his throne. "I, Viserys Targaryen name Daemion Velaryon as Princess Rhaenyras heir after her passing. He will take the name Targaryen and rule in peace."

This shocked Daemion and Rhaenyra. Today was meant to be a petition for Jace, but the king had given them more than what they asked for in front of the court.

The Grandmaester then helped Viserys down the throne and took him to the royal chambers.

Heleana smiled and squeezed her husband's hand.

Daemion and Heleanas chambers

Heleana was watching Daenerys play with her toys when she heard a knock on the door.

"Come." Heleana said and to her surprise, Ser Criston entered the room.

"Princess." Ser Criston bowed his head.

"You're not allowed to be here." Heleana said. "Daemion doesn't want you close to us"

"I know, but I... I haven't seen Daenerys yet." Ser Criston looked at his grandchild happily playing with her toys. "She's beautiful. She looks happy."

"She's happy thanks to Daemion. I'm sorry, Ser, but you must leave now." Heleana said.

"Of course." Ser Criston left the room and found Rhaenyra walking towards him.

"Ser Criston." Rhaenyra greeted.

"Why did you lie to me about Daemion?" Ser Criston asked.

"What about Daemion?" Rhaenyra inquired.

"You truly want me to say it, don't you?" Ser Criston challenged.

Rhaenyra quickly looked around. "When did you find out?" She asked.

"At his wedding." Ser Criston said. "I tried to talk to him after his daughters nameday, but he rejected me."

"What did you expect?" Rhaenyra asked. "You wanted to harm him the first day he came into this world. Of course he'd reject you."

"Talk to him. Try to make him see that I'm-" Rhaenyra cut Ser Criston off.

"I can't. Daemion is finally happy and he's barely accepting me as it is." Rhaenyra said. "If I even whisper your name to him, I'll lose him forever. I'm sorry, Ser Criston, but I won't lose my son again." Rhaenyra walked past him before he could say anything.

Lynoras chambers

"I promise, I won't be long, but the king insists for his family to gather in the holdfast." Lynora told her children. "I love you both so much. She kissed them on their heads as they were already tucked in."

Lynora went to the other side of her room and found her handmaidens drawing her a bath.

"Your bath is ready, my lady." The handmaiden said.

"Thank you. Leave me." Lynora said. She stared at the water for a few minutes and felt an arm around her waist. She turned to see Ser Arryk and Lynora passionately kissed him.

"The gods will punish me for breaking my vows." Ser Arryk said.

"You're not forced, Arryk." Lynora said. "If you wish to stop, we can."

"I want to, but I can't. I love you too damn much." Ser Arryk said.

"We have to be quiet. My children are alseep, and remember-" Ser Arryk cut Lynora off.

"We can't do more than kiss." Ser Arryk said.

"Thank you for understanding." Lynora said, and they continued kissing.

Royal chambers

Daemion helped Viserys get dressed for the dinner party. The king wanted his grandson to spend time with his wife and daughter, but Daemion insisted on helping.

"Do you... d... remember when... when you carved the dragon on my c... cane?" Viserys wheezed.

"I do." Daemion smiled. "You said it was the best thing you've ever seen anyone do."

"Y... you've always loved art." Viserys weakly chuckled. "N... now you're a man. An heir to the throne."

"I don't want the throne." Daemion said.

"I know, my boy, but the throne will want you." Viserys said. "The king or queen who sits upon it serves as a protector. He or she will unite the realm against the cold. I... I believe like your mother, you are meant to be that protected." A tear fell from the kings eye. "I am so proud of you, Daemion. S... so proud."

"Thank you, grandsire." Daemion wanted to know more of what his grandfather was talking about, but he didn't want to push him. "Come. They're waiting for us."

"Y... you go first." Viserys said and Daemion nodded.

Maegors Holdfast

Daemion spoke to Aegon and Aemond. He looked at Heleana as she was talking to Lynora. The husband and wife glanced at each other and smiled.

"You should drink like a man, and not take sips from time to time." Aegon told Daemion.

"Well I have no intention of getting drunk tonight, uncle. I think that I drink a decent amount of wine." Daemion said.

"You bore me." Aegon said.

"Then I won't bother you anymore." Daemion walked to his brothers.

"Having fun?" Jace asked.

Daemion scoffed. "I'd rather speak to anyone else than Aegon."

Just then the doors opened and Viserys was brought in on a palanquin chair by guards and the royal family stood at his arrival. The king was seated between his wife and daughter. The family sat down

"How good it is...to see you all tonight...together." The king said as he looked at his family with the uncovered side of his face.

"Prayer before we begin?" Alicent asked.

"Yes, that would be good." Viserys replied.

Everyone closed their eyes and bowed their heads.

"May the mother smile down on this gathering of love, may the Smith mend the bonds that have been broken for far too long, and to Vaemond Velaryon, may the gods give him rest." The Queen finished, and Daemon smirked.

"This is an occasion for celebration, it seems, my grandsons Jace and Luke, will marry their cousins Baela and Rhaena. Further strengthening the bond between our houses." The king said and Jace and Luke smiled at their betrothed. "A toast to the young princes and their betrothed." Everyone raised up their glasses and toasted.

"Here here." Daemon cheered and drank his wine.

"To Prince Daemion Velaryon and his wife, princess Heleana. May their family expand further when he is king." Viserys praised his grandson.

"Here here." Rhaenyra raised her cup at her son and sister.

Aegon looked at Jace. "Well done, Jace. You'll finally get to lie with a woman." Baela glared at him while Jacaerys tried to keep his cool.

"Let us toast as well to prince Jacaerys. The future Lord of the Tides." Viserys said.

"Here here." Everyone raised their cups again.

"You'll be great." Baela told Jace.

"You do know how the act is done? At least in principal?" Aegon asked Jace.

"You can play the jester, if you wish, but hold your tongue before my betrothed." Jace warned.

Viserys struggled, and slowly got up from his chair. "It both gladdens my heart...and fills me with sorrow...to see these faces around the table, the faces most dear to me in all the world." He looked at everyone. "You've grown so distant from each other in the years past." King Viserys then proceeded to remove his mask. He showed his family what has been happening to him. His right eye was gone and his right cheek had a hole in it, his body was decaying and he looked like a walking corpse. Daemion had to force his tears back. "My own face, is no longer a handsome one...if indeed it ever was, but tonight, I wish for you to see me as I am, not just a king...." Viserys looked at his children. "But as your father." He looked at Daemon. "Your brother." He looked at his grandchildren. "And your grandsire. Who may not, it seems... walk for much longer among you. Let us no longer have ill feelings in our hearts." Viserys continued. "The crown cannot stand strong, if the House of the Dragon remains divided. Set aside your grievances, if not for the sake of the crown...then for the sake of this old man...who loves you all...so dearly." The king said as a tear fell from his eye. Viserys then struggled to sit back in his seat, but Alicent was there to assist him.

Rhaenyra rose from her seat "I wish to raise my cup to her grace, the queen. I love my father, but I must admit that no one has stood... more loyally by hos side than his good wife. She has tended to him... with unfailing devotion, love and honor. And for that she has my gratitude... and my apology."

"Your graciousness moved me deeply, princess." Alicent spoke up. "We are both mothers... and we love our children. We also share grandchildren. We have more I'm common than we sometimes allow." The queen rose from her seat. "I raise my cup to you and to your house. You will make a fine queen." Rhaenyra smiled as Alicent sat down.

Aegon wanted to cause more chaos and walked to Baela as he poured himself some wine. "I regret the disappointment you're soon to suffer. But if you wish to know what it is to be well satisfied, all you have to do us ask."

Jace heard enough. He slammed his fists on the table and furiously rose from his seat.

"Jace." Baela pleaded.

Just then Aemond rose from his seat to intimidate Jace, but Daemion wouldn't let that happen. The Velaryon prince rose from his seat to intimidate Aemond.

Jace took his cup of wine and lightly tapped Aegons shoulder.

"To Prince Aegon, and prince Aemond." Jace raised his cup. "We have not seen each other as much, but I still have fond memories of our shared youth, and as men, I hope we may yet be friends and allies. To you and your family's good health, dear uncles." He then tapped Aegons shoulder again.

"To you as well." Aegon groaned. Jace then sat down.

Daemion and Aemond still had their stare down and Aemond sat down first. Daemion sat down and his wife rubbed his back.

"Beware the beast beneath the boards." Heleana whispered.

"Are you alright? Is it the babe?" Daemion asked and placed his hand on Heleanas belly.

"We're alright." Heleana placed her hand on top of Daemions.

"Well done, my boy." Viserys praised Jacaerys.

Lynora rose from her seat. "I would like to toast to Baela and Rhaena. They'll be married soon. It isn't so bad. Mostly he just ignores you. Except sometimes when his drunk." This caused Daemion and Daemon to laugh. Lynora then sat down.

Otto nodded at her. "Good."

"Let us have some music." Viserys said and the mistrels started playing music.

"Would you like to dance?" Daemion asked Heleana.

"You know I would." Heleana took Daemions hand and they walked to the floor and danced.

"Excuse me." Jace said to Baela, and he walked to Lynora and offered his hand to her. She smiled and took it. They also started dancing.

Viserys watched as his family was enjoying the feast. He knew that his days were numbered, but this was all he wanted. His family united in peace. He then started groaning and Alicent called for the guards to take the king to his chambers.

Once the king was taken away, the servants brought in a roasted pig and placed it on the table in front of Aemond. Luke them started chuckling.

Aemond furiously hit the table, stood up and raised his cup. "Final tribute. To the health of my nephews. Daemion, Jace, Luke, and Joffery, each of them handsome wise... He looked at Daemion. Mm. Strong." He said and Rhaenyra looked uncomfortable.

"Aemond-" Alicent tried to protest but Aemond interrupted him.

"Come! Let is drain our cups for these three... Strong boys." Aemond said and Aegon raised his cup as well.

"I dare you to say that again." Jace threatened.

"Why? T'was was only a compliment, do you not think yourself Strong?" Aemond asked and Jace walked to Aemond and punched him in the face.

"Jace!" Rhaenyra yelled.

"That is enough!" Alicent yelled.

Aemond did not stumble back, instead Aemond pushed him with one hand and Jace fell down. Luke ran to aid his brother, but wqs stopped by Aegon who pushed the boys head in the table. Daemion pulled Aegon off Luke.

"I don't want to fight you, uncle. Calm down." Daemion said. Aegon smirked and punched Daemion in his face, Aegon broke his knuckle.

"Fuck!" Aegon groaned. A guard pulled Daemion away from Aegon and Jace and Luke away from Aemond.

Alicent grabbed Aemond by his arm. "Why would say such a thing bedore these people?!" She furiously asked.

"I was merely expressing how proud I am of my family, mother. Mm. Though it seems my nephews aren't quite as proud of theirs." Aemond forcibly removed himself from his mothers grip and was about to charge at Jace, but Daemon stopped the boys from fighting.

"Go to your chambers. All of you go." Rhaenyra said. Daemion waited for his brothers to leave away from Aemond. He then took Heleanas hand and left as well.

"Rhaenyra." Alicent walked to her former best friend.

"I think its best we get back to Dragonstone." Rhaenyra said.

"You've only just arrived, Rhaenyra." Alicent said and held Rhaenyras hand.

"Let me see the children home, and I shall return on dragonback to bid Daemion a proper farewell." Rhaenyra said.

"The king and I would like that very much." Alicent said.

Blackwater bay

"I'll see you soon for a proper farewell." Rhaenyra told Daemion.

"I can't wait." Daemion smiled.

"Thank you." Rhaenyra said.

"For what?" Daemion asked.

"For giving me another chance." Rhaenyra said.

"You're my mother. I can be angry at you, but I will never stop needing you." Daemion said. "All I need to know is that you will always be there for us."

"You have my word. I love you, Daemion." Rhaenyra said.

"I love you, mother." Daemion then hugged his mother. Daemion walked to Jace, Luke and Joffery. "Try not to cause too much trouble while I'm away."

"We wouldn't dare cause trouble without you." Jace smirked.

"Take care of each other and of Aegon and Viserys." Daemion said.

"We will." Luke said. The four brothers hugged and Daemion watched as they boarded their ship.

Daemion and Heleanas chambers

"I was thinking we could walk in the city on the morrow." Heleana said as she removed her jewelry.

"That sounds like a splendid idea. I've been wanting to spare some food for the smallfolk since I arrived, but I was occupied." Daemion said.

Daemion then led Heleana to their bed and she sat on  the edge. Daemion removed her shoes and started rubbing her feet.

"You have no idea how much I need this." Heleana said.

"I have some idea." Daemion smirked. "I remember how much your feet hurt when you were pregnant with Daenerys."

"And I remember you rubbing them." Heleana smiled. Daemion looked at his wife and smiled. Once he was done massaging her feet, Daemion walked away and removed his shirt. He then felt a pair of hands on his muscular shoulders. He then felt Heleanas head on his back. "I don't think you understand how much I love you."

Daemion smiled. "Show me." Heleana placed soft kisses on Daemions back. He then turned to face her and leaned down to kiss her. They walked to their bed and laid on it. He lifted Heleanas nightgown and placed his member at her wet entrance. Once he was inside her he slowly started thrusting deeper inside her.

"I love you." Heleana panted as she felt Daemion kiss her neck. A few orgasms later Daemion finished inside her. They spoke for a while and then fell asleep.
