Chapter 6

I was shocked with his question. I ended up staring at him for a few seconds while he watched me closely.

"I-I think I heard something else can you repeat what you just said?"

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asks while looking at me for any reaction.

"Uhmm..., I-I..." I am at a loss for words while he just patiently waits for me.

"I know it's so sudden but, there's something about you, you aren't like anyone I've met or been with. When we kissed last night I felt something different, I know you felt it too" he says as we look at each other for a while.

Thankfully we got interrupted as our dessert arrives, he waits a while before the man leaves and he speaks again.

"Look it's up to you, I am not forcing you, it is your choice"

"I think I need a few minutes first to think this through" I say as he nods and we start to eat our dessert.

While we are eating I start to think about my answer, Do I say yes or no? Yes, I like him but I am scared, If I say yes that would mean there is a possibility of me being the future queen? Will I even be able to handle all the pressure with just dating him?

Sure, he looks amazing and there's something about him, but is it worth it?

I excuse myself to go to the restroom and as soon as I enter I grab my phone and call Maddie.

"Amelia?" She answers

"Maddie! I need help" I whisper shout

"Woah! calm down what is going on?"

"Alex..." I wasn't sure if I should tell Maddie or not.

"Alex what?" She asks

"..." I remain silent thinking if I am doing the right thing or not.

"Hello? Amelia?" She calls out as I am brought out of my thoughts.

"Yeah?"

"What happened?"

"Alex asked me to be his girlfriend"

Maddie screamed very loudly that I had to move the phone away from my ear until she was able to calm down.

"What did you say?" She asks excitedly.

"I told him to give me a few minutes to think about it"

"So what did you decide?" She asks

"I don't know, that is why I called you" I say as I start to pace around the restroom.

"Just think, do you like him?"

"Yes"

"Do you want to be with him?"

"I guess so, but what if it doesn't work out and it just ends horribly like what happened with Andrew"

"You won't know until you try" she says as I stop pacing and I take a deep breath.

"Alright, listen I have to go" I say

"Okay, see you later, call me if there's anything else" she says

"See you later" I say as she ends the call. I look in the mirror and I fix my hair as I go out and head back to the table, However Alex was not there.

I look to my left and there he was standing looking out at the view.

"I thought you already left me here" he says as I approach him.

"Sorry, Maddie called me asking for advice, she has an online date with her boyfriend"

He nods and we just stand there in silence for a few minutes admiring the view the kingdom has to offer.

"So... have you decided already or do you need more time?" He hesitantly asks as we look at each other.

"I would love to but..." I say as I look away from him and back at the view.

"But what?" He asks

"We both have different lives Alex. I am just an Architect from New York and you are the future King of Othilia, I-" I say until I get interrupted.

"You are not just some Architect, you are the smartest, kindest and most beautiful person I have ever met, Don't doubt yourself. my status doesn't change the way we feel about each other and besides I'm sure we can make this work" he says

"How?" I ask as I look back at him.

"We could visit each other during our free time, we can call each other everyday, We should at least try, please?" He asks as he looks directly back at me.

I think for a few seconds if we even have a chance or will we both end up broken hearted.

"Okay" I softly say as he starts to smile.

"Thank you" and with that he pulls me into his arms and kisses me in a sweet and loving way.

We go back to our seats and continue dessert. Alex has a chocolate cake while I decided to go with a Raspberry cake which tastes amazing.

While we were eating Alex suddenly takes a bite of my cake.

"Hey!" I say as he eats the piece of cake and smiles innocently at me.

"What?" He asks as if nothing happened.

"I saw that" I say

"Well it looks like it tastes good"

"Well it does and for that I get to try yours" I say as I take a bite of his chocolate cake.

The rest of our dinner was filled with conversation about one another.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

We get in the car and start to make our way back to the hotel.

I lean on Alex as he places his hand on my shoulder and we just sit in silence.

"Do we tell our families?" I ask, looking up at him.

"Well my mother knew I was taking you out tonight so my father probably knows as well by now, that we are out and I can guarantee that my mother will be asking me for information when I get back about what happened"

I chuckle at the way his mother acts and it reminds me of Sophia and Maddie.

"Well you are not the only one who will be interrogated tonight" I say as he chuckles.

"Let me guess Sophia and Maddie?"

"Yup, Did you know it took them only 5 minutes since we got back last night to be knocking on my door and asking for details"

"What kind of details?" He asks

"About us leaving them and going to the garden" I say

"Including this?" He asks as he suddenly kisses me.

"Yes" I say with a smile as we pull apart.

"And you told them?" He asks with a smirk on his face.

"I had to or they wouldn't let me sleep"

"Alright, I am fine with that, but I was thinking if we do not make everyone else know about this first, I don't want anyone to be chasing you around in New York"

"Me too, I don't think I am ready for that either" I say as I lean on him.

"Then it is settled, only our trusted friends and family"

"Yeah"

We continued to travel back for a few more minutes before the car suddenly stops and I get up to look around. I notice that we are in the park where Sophia, Maddie and I went.

"What are we doing here?" I ask while looking back at Alex.

"Well, I was thinking maybe we could take a walk for a short while"

"Alex, someone might see us" I say

"It's already dark and a bit late they wouldn't expect the prince to be in a park at this time, come on" he says offering me his hand which I hesitantly accept.

We make our way around the park just talking while walking together with our hands intertwined with one another.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

Soon we make our way back to the car and head back to the hotel.

"What time is it?" I ask

"10" he says as he glances at his watch.

"What! We've been out that long?" I say surprised

"Yes, Why do you have anything planned for tomorrow? That you can't be out at this time?"

"No, I was just surprise how quickly time went by"

..........A Few Minutes Later..........

We arrived in the hotel and Alex insisted on bringing me until the Lobby.

"Do you have anything to do tomorrow?" He asks as we walk towards the entrance.

"I don't think so. Maddie will be with your father in the palace tomorrow"

"If you have the time why don't you come to the palace. I could use some company while I finish the last minute preparations for the ball on Saturday"

"I will see if there is anything we will be doing tomorrow first"

He nods "I will make sure to inform security that you might come so they will let you in"

"Okay, Goodnight" I say with a smile.

Alex kisses me on the lips "Goodnight, I wish to see you tomorrow"

With that he makes his way back to his waiting car and I make my way up to my room.

I enter my room and the moment I close the door in about thirty seconds or so I received two loud knocks.

How do they both know I arrived already!?!

"Amelia we know you are in, open up!" Sophia shouts as she rapidly bangs on the door.

I open the door and sit on my bed to remove my shoes as both Maddie and Sophia enter as they sit on the bed beside me.

"Maddie told me!" Sophia says

"What happened? What did you say?" Maddie quickly asks

"Well..." I say as I get up to move my shoes aside.

"Well?..." They both say while looking at me with excitement.

"I said yes" I say as they shout and jump on the bed.

I wait for about two minutes for them to calm down. I really wonder if they are teenagers sometimes.

"We have to keep this between us only no matter what" I say

"Of course" Sophia says

"Yeah we understand" Maddie says

"Thank you" I say as I approach them and I hug them both.

"Oh! Do we have any plans tomorrow?" I ask as we pull apart and I take a seat on the bed.

"Well I do and that is to meet Edward which might take time" Maddie says

"What about you Sophia?" I ask

"None at the moment" she replies

"Why?" Maddie asks

"Alex was asking if I had free time to go and spend time with him in the palace while he is finishing some last minute things for the ball"

"Well then go" Sophia says

"I don't want to leave you alone" I tell her as she rolls her eyes at me.

"Amelia I'm not a baby, it's fine, I was actually planning to meet an old friend some other time but I can have it tomorrow since you both are busy" she says

"Are you sure?" I ask

"Yes, Now tell Alex you are going" she says as she hands me my phone.

I grab my phone from her and I message Alex and in a few seconds I receive an immediate response.

'Hey I am free, I will see you tomorrow'

'Alright, can't wait'

'Same here, Goodnight'

'Goodnight'

I say as I put down my phone and Sophia and Maddie start to interrogate me.
