Chapter 16

I get back late from work due to the amount of work I missed the past two weeks that I was on vacation.

I enter and I place my keys along with my other stuff in the living room.

"Hey, you're late" Alex says as he hugs me and kisses me then we sit on the couch.

"Yeah, there was a lot of things that I missed out on last week" I say as I remove my heels.

"Let's eat now" he says

"You didn't have dinner yet?" I ask as I look at him.

"No, I wanted to wait for you"

"Alright" I say and we get uo from the couch.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

We are still having dinner when I decided to tell Alex about my Canada trip for work.

"Something's distracting you" he says suddenly.

"Uhh...no, nothing" I say while thinking of the best way to tell him.

"There is Amelia, what is it?" He asks again and directly looks at me.

"I have to fly to Canada for work" I quickly say while watching and waiting for his reaction.

"When?" He asks

"Thursday"

"How long?"

"3 nights, I will be back on Sunday" I say and he slightly looks away from me.

"Do you have to be the one to go?" He asks while looking at me.

"Yes, Mr. Davis asked for me because I have been in charge of all his projects"

He remains silent and I don't know what to do.

"Alex say something" I say

"Well what do you want me to say?" He says and I can tell that he doesn't want me to go.

"I don't know, how about your opinion on the trip?" I ask him as we completely forget our dinner.

"Well, to be honest I don't want you to go because I have to return back to Othillia on Tuesday" he says

"On Tuesday?"

"Yes, my father called earlier and instead of Saturday next week it became Tuesday" he explains

If I go to the trip that means I will only have a few days left to be with him when I get back.

But if I don't go I might lose this client which would be a big damage to my career if I lose someone like Mr. Davis.

We both sit in silence for a few minutes while we both think of a solution.

"How about I go with you? So we can still spend time together it will just be in Canada" Alex asks holding my hand as we look at each other.

"But you have things to do here" I say

"I can move it and attend those when we return" he says and I quickly think it over.

"I am fine with that, though how do we get there without anyone noticing you?" I ask

"I will be in disguise plus no one is expecting me there so it will be easy"

"I might have to bring Margaret"

"Who's Margaret?" He quickly asks

"My assistant" I say as he seems to hesitate for a moment.

"Can we make her sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement?" He asks

"I will ask her" I say as he nods.

"Once she agrees I will tell Jason to get a copy of the NDA for her to sign"

.....The Next Day.....

I am currently in my office. Alex has a meeting today so we both left the apartment together but he had his black SUV and he left with Jason.

I was brought out of my thoughts when the door opened and in walked Mr. Carson.

"Did you talk to your brother?" Is the first thing he says.

"Yes, he agreed" I say

"Alright, here are the details for tomorrow until you get back" He says while handing me a folder with the details regarding my trip to Canada.

"You may bring your brother since you were supposed to spend time with him here"

"Thank you, Mr. Carson" I say with a smile and he smiels back at me.

"You're welcome, Oh! Are you bringing Margaret?"

"I will still ask her"

"Okay, good luck on this project" he says as he leaves.

After a few minutes Margaret opened the door and handed me some documents and I took the opportunity to inform her regarding our trip.

"Hey, Margaret we have a trip to Canada tomorrow are you free to go?"

"Tomorrow, I am free, until when?"

"Sunday" I say as she nods and she starts to walk out of my office.

"Margaret, Can you meet me at the cafe across later?" I ask her and she looks at me questioningly.

"Why?" She asks

"I will inform you later" I say and she seems to hesitate but agrees anyways.

.....A Few Hours Later.....

I enter the cafe to see Margaret seated at the corner of the cafe with a drink.

We greet each other before I take my seat across her.

"What do you want to talk about?" She asks and takes a sip of her drink.

"The trip to Canada, I am bringing someone" I say

"Who?" She asks putting down her drink.

"I can't say for now, but you know him"

"Him?" She asks as her eyes widen.

"Yes, him" I say

"Okay so what does this have to do with me?" She asks

"I need you to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement" I say hoping that she would agree or this would be a problem.

"Alright" she immediately says.

"You will?" I ask again, wondering if I possibly heard something else.

"Yes, why not?" She says with a smile.

"Okay, thank you so much, come on the agreement is in my appartment, let me just call him"

I grab my phone and call Alex. He messaged me earlier that he was already back from his meeting.

"Hello" I say as he answers the phone.

"Hey" he says

"Margaret will sign the NDA"

"Okay, I will have Jason get a copy"

"We will be going there now so she can sign it already"

"Alright, the contract would be here by then"

"Okay, see you later" I say with a smile.

"See you" he says and ends the call.

I put my phone in my bag and Margaret and I make our way to my car.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

We finally made it, we are in the elevator right now.

We get out of the elevator and I grab my key and I open the door.

We enter and I lock the door from inside, I turn around and I immediately spot Alex sitting in the living room.

"Hey" he says getting up from the couch.

"Hey" I say as he approaches me and kisses me.

That's when I realize I had Margaret with me and I quickly pull away from him.

"Alex meet Margaret, my friend and assistant, Margaret meet Alex" I say

"Your Royal Highness" Margaret says as she tries to curtsy.

"There is no need for that, and please just call me Alex" Alex quickly says.

They both shake their hands and I can tell Margaret is still in a state of shock.

"I received the NDA already" Alex says as he hands me the file as we all take our seats, Alex and I together while Margaret sat across us.

I take a look at it then pass it to Margaret. After she reads it she signs it and hands it over back to me and I place it on the table as I lean on Alex with his hand around my shoulder.

"So you both are together?" She asks

"Yes" we both say in unison.

"Since when?" She quickly asks

"A few weeks ago" I say and her eyes widen.

"And I did not know!?!" She says in shock.

Alex and I both laugh at her reaction while she slowly calmes herself down.

"Only a few people know" I say

"Like?" She asks

"His parents, Maddie and Sophia"

"Oh okay the list is still short, well I better get going now I still have to prepare for the trip" she says standing up from her seat.

"Alright, see you tomorrow" I say as Alex and I get up as well.

We all make our way to the door. Until Margaret stops and looks straight at Alex.

"Mark my words you do anything to Amelia that leaves her in tears I will smash you to pieces" she threatens

"Margaret!" I quickly say as she looks at me with an innocent smile.

"What? I beter get going now, nice to meet you Alex" she shakes hands with Alex then hugs me "see you tomorrow" she says as she leaves.

"So how was your day?" I ask him

"Aside from a stressful meeting, my day went well, what about you?"

"Same thing as usual" I say as he nods and we both walk to the couch and we take a seat.

"Oh by the way, I might have told my boss that I was travelling with my brother"

"Why?"

"Because he is also a friend and he won't stop asking until he knows who I am bringing"

"Alright"

We both just watched movies for the rest of the night until we had to go to bed because we have a flight tomorrow.
