Chapter 10

After a few hours we finally finished.

I decided to go with a violet off-shoulder dress with a silver like belt with glitter on it and around the dress. With a matching violet clutch. The length of the dress reaches until the floor.

My hair was styled in a low bun with a few strands out to frame my face. My make-up is a gold smokey eyeshadow with a flamenco red lipstick.

Maddie's dress is velvet green with the sleeves reaching her forearm. While Sophia's dress was color black and sleeveless.

Alex prepared a car to pick us up and it was set to arrive in a few minutes.

We decided to have ourselves picked up in the salon. Alex said he will have someone bring Sophia's car back to the hotel.

"Amelia, Maddie let's go the car is here" Sophia calls out.

We all make our way outside and we get in the car. I enter first followed by Sophia then Maddie.

The ride is filled with us singing along to the songs. Which makes me feel bad for the driver because he has to listen to our singing.

After about an hour we made it to the palace and I see people entering.

Alex and I decided to not let anyone know for now so we can't be together that much tonight. Though we plan to meet in his office at around 10 later tonight.

We start to get out the car first with Maddie first then Sophia and finally me.

We entet the ballroom and it is filled with hundreds of guests, as we enter we are offered champagne which we all take and we start to walk around.

"Oh look! Its Mr. Johnson, I just have to ask him something, I will catch up with you guys later" Sophia says as she walks away.

Before I can say anything else another person speaks "Madeline Martinez?"

We both turn around "Hannah Davis?" Maddie asks the woman behind us.

They both hug each other and I wonder who Hannah Davis is.

"Who are you with?" Maddie asks st they pull apart from their hug.

"I am here with my husband Noah, What about you?" she asks

"Oh yes! Amelia this is Hannah Davis my childhood friend, our parents used to be close until we moved away, Hannah this is Amelia Peterson my best friend since high school"

We both smile and quickly hug each other before Hannah speaks "Why are you here?"

"I am the photographer for tonight"

"Woah! you really became a photographer" she says amused at Maddie.

"Yup, what about you?" Maddie asks as she takes a sip of her champagne.

"Well I got my dream job and that is to be a doctor" Hannah says with a smile.

"Well as much as I would like to chat more I have to start doing my job" Maddie says as she starts to walk away.

I nod and I walk towards the side of the ballroom while Maddie starts to take pictures around.

I notice Sophia seated on one of the chairs. I take a seat beside her and I start talking to her.

Apparently Mr. Johnson had to go due to an emergency in his company.

We continue to chat but I stop when I felt someone behind me who taps my shoulder and I turn around to see Alex in a black tux.

"Care for a dance?" He asks

I take a look at Sophia, not wanting to leave her alone because I know she would end up drinking since she has no one to talk to and when Sophia drinks she will be forcing us all to head back right away so she can go to bed.

But then she nods her head and mouths a 'go' to me.

"I'd love to" I say as I stand up and I leave my clutch with Sophia.

We make our way to the center of the dance floor while there are other guests surrounding us.

We waltz along with the other couples who were also dancing together.

"You look beautiful" he says looking at me and I blush.

"Thanks, You clean up pretty well yourself" I say as he chuckles

"Thank you" he says

We dance in silence for a while until he speaks again.

"Did you know I got a scolding from my  mother the moment I got back about getting your food" I laugh while he looks like he still couldn't believe what happened to him.

"Well you pretty much did the wrong thing" I state with a smirk.

"So you think I deserve it?" He says with an amused look on his face.

"Maybe a bit of it" I say and we both laugh while dancing.

"Don't forget to meet me in my office at 10" he whispers to me.

I nod and we continue to waltz just staring into each other's eyes until the song ends and we are pulled away from our thoughts as people start to clap and that's when I realise that everyone was watching us.

He bows and I curtsy and we go opposite ways. I head back to Sophia to see a very excited look on her face. I take my seat and face her.

"Oh my God! You were blushing and laughing, What did he tell you?" Sophia asks

Before I get to reply I see Maddie rushing towards the bkth of us.

"Amelia that looked amazing! look!" She says as she shows Sophia and I the pictures she took of Alex and I dancing and laughing together.

After a few more minutes of looking at the thousands of pictures Maddie took. Sophia went back to her question before we got interrupted by Maddie, However even Maddie was waiting for my answer now.

I told them what happened and I excuse myself to go to the restroom. On my way I take a look and see Alex with his parents, talking with a few guests.

After I finished with my business I washed my hands when someone entered. A woman with blonde hair and a red dress with her face filled with make-up approached me.

"You know, No matter how many times you hang out with Alex you will still be known as the little dirty bitch who squeezed her way into this ball" She says with a smirk.

"Excuse me? Do I know you?" I ask looking at her.

"Not now, but you will" she says moving closer to me as I take a step back.

"I am Natalie the next queen of Othilia" she says

"What do you mean?" I ask her

"You think I didn't notice? how Alex asked to dance with you" She says as I look at her questioningly.

"I don't know what you are talking about, excuse me" I say as I try to walk away but she blocks my path.

"Alex does not dance with anyone unless he is interested in that person and honestly I don't see what he finds interesting in you" she says as she looks me up and down.

"What do you want?" I ask her in an irritating tone.

"I don't want anything, I am just simply warning you to stay away from Alex, we wouldn't want anyone getting hurt do we? Especially our loved ones" She whispers the last part.

With that she goes out leaving me alone in the restroom thinking about everything that she just said.
