Chapter 64
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 64 Nancy, Iâm Sorry Nicholas rubbed his eyebrows deeply. He felt baffled now.
Especially when Nancy was crying, he felt extremely uncomfortable.
But soon, he forced himself to forget that feeling.
When Nicholas looked at Nancy again, his eyes became very sharp. His voice was icy, âItâs my fault today, but Madelline wonât call me for no reason, especially at such a late hour. She must. have an important matter.â
âNancy, Iâm sorry. I have to answer this call.â
Nancy smiled.
It turns out that every time she persists, it tells her that persistence has no meaning.
She blinked and suddenly felt that she didnât know this man.
âNicholas, you have to answer it, donât you?â
Her voice suddenly calmed down, no longer as hysterical and sharp as before.
After looking at her momentarily, Nicholas finally answered with one word, âYes.â
Haha! Such an expected answer!
For some reason, Nancy became calmer after hearing this word.
She reached out and took out Nicholasâ phone, hidden behind her.
Then, she held it with both hands and handed it to Nicholas respectfully.
Nicholas felt very uncomfortable seeing Nancy like that.
He squeezed her fingers and comforted her gently, Nancy, donât be like this. Iâm just answering the phone.â
âReally?â Nancy replied calmly, without saying another word.
She lowered her eyes and rolled herself into the blanket. Then, she reached out to turn off the light in the room, leaving only a pale yellow wall lamp with a faint light so that the room would not be too dark.
Two minutes later, Nicholas came back after answering the phone.
1/5 Nancy covered herself in the blanket, with only her head exposed.
Nicholas hesitated momentarily, then looked at her and said, âMadellineâs car broke down in a mountainous area. Iâll pick her up and will be back soon.â
Nancy blinked and said nothing.
Nicholas leaned forward to the bed and gently ran his fingers through Nancyâs forehead hair. Then he lowered his head, preparing to kiss her forehead.
As if Nancy sensed it, she immediately turned her head and quickly dodged away.
Nicholasâ hands suddenly froze mid-air in embarrassment.
He took back his hand and promised in a low voice, âI will go out for a while, and I will come back. tonight.â
Nicholas changed his clothes, opened the door and prepared to leave.
Suddenly, he heard Nancyâs voice in the darkness, âNicholas, you made such a good promise. Have you ever thought about what would happen if you couldnât return tonight? Wouldnât that embarrass you a lot?â
âIâll come back tonight,â said Nicholas firmly.
âOh?â Nancy smiled.
âBut your promises are no longer worth anything to me. They all look like clumsy lies.â
She was naive and believed what he said, but what was the result? What she got was not his gratitude and guilt but repeated lies.
âNancy,â Nicholas called her name. From his voice, Nancy knew that he was angry.
âDo you want me to count them for you?â
Nancy painfully recalled the lies that left her covered in wounds.
âThat night, you answered a phone call. I asked you what happened, and you said it was nothing. But as soon as I fell asleep, you got up and left. You didnât come back all night. Nicholas, you always thought I didnât know anything. I know everything. I didnât sleep at all that night. I didnât tell you because I didnât bother to expose you.â
âNow, you said you were answering a phone call, but within five minutes, it turned into going out to pick her up.â
âDid you say that you would come back tonight? If you were me, do you think you would believe it?â
2/5 Nancy asked Nicholas calmly.
She was so calm as she felt that what she was talking about now was none of her business.
âNicholas, I may be a little dense, and Iâm not a particularly smart person. But Iâm not stupid.â
âHow can you hurt me over and over again?â
âYou can go now.â
When Nancy said that, she suddenly felt relaxed.
Nicholas suddenly turned around, threw himself on the bed and held Nancy tightly, âIâm sorry, Nancy. I didnât know I had done so many things to hurt you.â
âI promise I will come back tonight.â
After saying that, Nicholas left.
The room suddenly became empty.
Nancy wrapped herself tightly in the blanket and closed her eyes.
Soon, she felt sleepy. That night, she found that it was not so difficult to have Nicholas not around. She could sleep alone.
It was just that she couldnât let go of the past. Every time, she would subconsciously tell herself that Nicholas had to stay with her and sleep next to her before she could fall asleep.
She believes all habits can be changed.
One day, she will be able to erase all habits related to Nicholas.
Nancy was alone when she woke up in the morning.
She glanced at the bed next to her. Maybe because she never expected Nicholas, she felt less disappointed.
However, when folding the blanket, Nancy discovered that the blanket on the other side was hot.
She stretched out her hand and touched the bed next to her. It was also hot.
Is he back?
However, Nancy no longer cared.
When she went to the dining room, an exquisite breakfast was placed on the table.
3/5 Because they were all small portions, the variety of food was vibrant.
Shrimp dumplings, sandwiches, butter bread, samosa...
Almost all of them were Nancyâs favorite dishes.
Nancy was surprised when she saw Nicholas walking out of the kitchen wearing a dark grey apron.
She thought Nicholas bought that breakfast, but she didnât expect Nicholas to make them all.
After taking off his apron, Nicholas brought Nancyâs favorite dish in front of her.
âThank you!â Nancy said gently.
Hearing this word, Nicholas was stunned for a moment.
Thank you?
She was saying thank you to him.
During breakfast, no one spoke, and the atmosphere in the dining room was tranquil.
Finally, breakfast was over. When Nicholas looked at her, Nancy was about to get up and said, âLynn said you have an interview to attend today. Iâll take you there.â
âNo need.â
Nancy refused without thinking-
âIsnât it at Serenity Hospital? Iâm heading in the same direction,â Nicholas said.
Nancy said, âYes, but the written test is in the afternoon. Iâll go there by myself in the afternoon.â
âWell, okay.â
After saying that, Nicholas left.
After sitting in the car, he immediately called Lynn. âWhat time is Nancyâs interview?â
âNine oâclock in the morning.â
âAre you sure?â Nicholas asked coldly.
âOf course, Iâm sure. Last time, Mrs. Sallow told me to book a car at eight oâclock in the morning.â
Nicholasâ guess was correct.
Nancy had lied to him.
4/5 Does she hate him so much that she doesnât even want to sit in the same car?
