Chapter 57
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 57 Nancy Fainted âDear, you have to be good.â
âDear, donât worry. Iâm very strong, and I wonât let anything happen to you.â
Nancyâs hands tightly guarded her stomach.
During this time, she kept on hesitating whether to call Nicholas.
Should I make the call?â
She asked herself over and over again.
There was a moment when she had already found his phone number and dialed it.
However, just as the other person was about to answer, she quickly hung up.
After arriving at the hospital, Nancy immediately registered. Luckily, it was weekday, so it wasnât difficult to get an appointment.
While waiting in line, she was already feeling uncomfortable. Her whole body was dizzy, heavy- headed, and she even had a feeling that she would faint any moment.
The waiting room was crowded, and the air was stuffy.
Nancy got up and wanted to go outside for a walk.
Just as she walked into the lobby, at that moment, there was an emergency patient being pushed 1.
Doctors and nurses were pushing the patient, shouting loudly, âMake way, hurry, make way!â
Nancy knew the situation was critical, and every minute and second of the emergency care was valuable. Seeing the emergency patient being wheeled in her direction, she didnât have time to think and immediately stepped aside.
Perhaps she was too hasty. When Nancy stepped aside, she stumbled and fell to the side.
Luckily, she managed to grab onto a large pillar with all her strength to prevent herself from. falling.
Next to her were doctors and nurses who were rushing the patient towards the emergency room, followed by a group of police officers, all of them following closely like a whirlwind.
Nancy was just about to comment on how she had only seen this scene on TV when suddenly, everything went dark.
1/5 The next moment, she lost all consciousness.
âBoss, someone has fainted.â
âIt seems to be the person who just made way for us. Dylan said.
Christian broke away from the formation and rushed to Nancy like a gust of wind, lifting her up and rushing to the emergency room.
Outside the emergency room, Dylan pondered for a while and suddenly realized something, slapping his head and saying.
âBoss, I remember it! I wonder why this pretty girl looked so familiar. Isnât she the girl who rode in our car last time?â
âBoss, you and her really hit it off.â
Dylan said excitedly, but Christian remained stern-faced, showing no change in expression.
âBoss, canât you at least say something? Do you recognize this pretty girl or not?â Dylan was getting anxious.
Christian only glanced at him coldly and replied, âI donât.â
In fact, Christian had recognized her the moment he picked up Nancy.
Nancy was gorgeous. She had a classic oval face, willow-like eyebrows, alluring red lips, and a well-defined nose. Her features were flawless.
However, that wasnât the most important.
It was the impression Nancy had left on him that was too deep.
Seeing her twice, he felt a faint sense of sadness about her.
That sadness even made him want to dispel it at times.
At one point, he was particularly curious about what she would look like when she smiled.
Just then, Dylanâs phone rang. After answering the call, he immediately reported to Christian, âBoss, the bullet has been removed, and heâs safe now. This mission finally has some gains. We can get many information from him once he wakes up.â
âKeep an eye on him upstairs and inform me as soon as he wakes up.â
Dylan glanced at the emergency room and said, âBut what about this beautiful woman?â
âYou donât need to worry about her. Once sheâs okay, Iâll come up immediately.â
âOkay, Boss. Iâll go upstairs first.â
2/5 Before leaving, Dylan didnât forget to warn Christian, âBoss, you have to take the initiative, and donât forget to exchange phone numbers.â
Well, Dylan obviously didnât know they had already had each otherâs contacts the first time they met.
Of course, Christian wasnât going to tell him.
After waiting for ten more minutes, a doctor came out of the emergency room, and Christian immediately approached, and asked, âDoctor, how is she?â
âShe fainted due to fever and exhaustion, with a slight nutritional deficiency. Fortunately, the fetus is not in serious danger.â
âWha... what?â
The doctorâs answer had caught Christian off guard, and he was stunned for a while before saying a few words.
As a special police officer, this was a rare moment of stuttering in his life.
The doctor looked at him bewildered and recalled Nancyâs previous statement about not telling her husband about the pregnancy.
In addition, the doctor had also forgotten Nicholasâ appearance, so she quickly assumed that Christian was Nancyâs husband and angrily interrogated him, âWhy are you asking? Are you such an incompetent husband that you donât even know your wife is two months pregnant?â
âDo you really need her to tell you? How can you not notice such an obvious thing? What kind of husband are you?â
The more the doctor spoke, the angrier she became.
Especially when she saw Christianâs confused face, without any reflection or guilt, she became even angrier.
Moreover, thinking of Nancyâs frequent admission to the hospital recently, she became angrier, âItâs only been two months, but sheâs been admitted to the hospital several times. If this continues, will the child even survive?â
âDoctor, I... I am not....
Christian opened his mouth, wanting to explain.
But the doctor didnât give him a chance. She took the payment bill from the nurse and thrust it into Christianâs hand and said, âGo pay the bill now After saying that, the doctor returned to the ward.
3/5 Christian stared blankly at the bill in his hand, and went downstairs to settle the bill.
In the ward, Nancy was receiving an IV drip.
The doctor looked at her, feeling heartbroken and angry, said, âYour body is already weak to begin with, how can you not take a better care of yourself?â
âIâve told you many times. You have to maintain a happy mood, and only when youâre well can your baby be well,â
âYou didnât take my words seriously and ignored my advice, right?â
Nancy knew she was wrong, so she lowered her head and waited for the reprimand.
Seeing her bow her head, the doctor couldnât bear it and gave her some comforting words, âAlright, I didnât mean to scold you. I hope you and your baby will be fine, and you can have a safe and smooth delivery in eight months.â
At this point, doctor remembered about Nancyâs husband and added, âBy the way, I couldnât help. myself and told your husband about your pregnancy outside the ward just now. Iâm sorry.â
âYou told him?â Nancy asked, and her heart suddenly sank, feeling like a heavy stone was pressing on her.
âYes. I did.â
He knew.
Nicholas knew it.
The only voice running through Nancyâs mind was, âSo, Nicholas knows that Iâm pregnant?â
So, how was his reaction?â
Would he be happy about this baby? Was he frustrated or forced to accept it?â
Was he truly prepared for this, and genuinely welcome this baby?â
Nancy was so panicked that all she could think about was these.
As the doctor continued to write her prescription, she casually commented, âThe first time I saw your husband, he looked like a refined gentleman. This time, he came in wearing a police uniform, with such a handsome face, very distinguished. How come he doesnât seem to cherish. you?â
âIndeed, men can be unreliable, regardless of their profession or background.â
Police uniform?
4/5 Wait, Nancy suddenly felt she had caught on an important point.
How could Nicholas be wearing a police uniform?
âYou just said he was wearing a police uniform?â Nancy looked at the doctor and asked very seriously.
