Chapter 47
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 47 Parting Ways with Madelline However, because of Grandpaâs last wish, Nancy wanted to protect this marriage and their family.
But since she has decided to maintain this marriage, she certainly didnât want it to be just an empty shell.
Nancy could tolerate him because Grandpa maintained this marriage, and she could also accept that he didnât love her, but....
Nancy couldnât accept that Nicholas was still dating Madelline during their marriage.
If that were the case, what would she be considered?
A moment after Nicholas left, Nancy received a call from Linda.
âNancy, Iâm back. Letâs have coffee at the usual place.â
âYouâre back? Didnât you say the filming wonât be finished until next month?â Nancy was quite surprised.
âIt was, but the male lead was injured when hanging wire rope. It will probably take a while before we can continue filming.â
Linda was the most famous actress at the moment and also Nancyâs best friend.
Of course, Nancy was thrilled to have her back.
After tidying up, Nancy immediately set off to the coffee shop where they used to go.
Speaking of which, that coffee shop was close to Nicholasâ company.
The coffee shop was located in the cityâs most prosperous and expensive land. Still, it covered a large area and was decorated luxuriously.
On top of that, their hand-ground coffee was excellent. Nancy and Linda loved the taste.
Because of Lindaâs identity, Nancy purposely chose a relatively secluded place.
Nancy arrived first and ordered a cup of Lindaâs favorite cappuccino, Then, Nancy ordered a glass of water for herself.
After not seeing each other for half a year, Nancy almost didnât recognize Linda. âLinda, is it you?â
Linda knew that Nancy was talking about her suntan and said heartbrokenly. âOh my god, is it that obvious?â
1/4 âYeah. Nancy took a sip of water and nodded vigorously. âIt couldnât be more obvious.â
âItâs a waste of all the sunscreen and BB cream I apply every day. My delicate skin has still gotten. tanned, but the sun over there is just too harsh. Iâm out almost every day, no wonder that I got a tan.â
âThatâs okay.â Nancy quickly comforted Linda with a smile. âEven tanned, you are still the most. beautiful actress in the entertainment industry. No one can beat you.â
âItâs too exaggerated, but I like your flattering.
They both burst out of laughter.
Linda took a sip of coffee and realized that Nancy was drinking water instead of coffee.
âWhatâs the matter? Nancy, are you pregnant?â Linda guessed in surprise.
âYes, Iâm pregnant.â Nancy nodded lightly.
Nancy answered promptly.
Since Linda asked, Nancy didnât think to hide it from her.
Linda was utterly stunned now.
It was long before Linda came to her senses and looked at Nancy in disbelief. âNancy, you are not lying to me? Are you having a baby?â
âDo I look like Iâm lying? I even gave up my favorite coffee.â
Nancy lowered her head and looked at the water in front of her.
Now, Linda was sure that Nancy was pregnant.
Linda immediately began to curse. âNicholas, this jerk! He still wants to divorce you, even knowing you are pregnant.â
âHow did you know we were getting divorced?â Nancy wondered.
âOf course, I know. There is no impenetrable wall in this world.â
On second thought, Nancy understood. âLuke told you, didnât he?â
As they spoke, Linda said excitedly. âWhat a coincidence. Here comes the jerk.â
âWhat?â
Linda gritted her teeth and said, âNicholas.â
2/4 Nancy didnât react until Linda mentioned the familiar name, Nicholas.
As Nancy turned around, she immediately saw Nicholas and Madelline.
Madelline wore a long white dress. She looked beautiful, intelligent, and elegant with that gentle, radiant smile.
Madelline ordered coffee. She took a cup for herself and handed the other one to Nicholas.
Nicholas took the cup and brought Madelline to another place near the corner.
âNicholas, Iâm so happy that you asked me out today. I know what happened to Grandpa. Iâm sorry for your loss. Since you have asked me out, it means you have moved on, right?â Madelline smiled gently.
Nicholas raised his head and took a sip of coffee. The usually rich and mellow coffee tasted particularly bitter today.
Linda couldnât tolerate it anymore when looking at all this. She stood up and wanted to rush over.
Nancy grabbed Lindaâs hand.
âNancy, how dare they date in front of you? Iâll teach this couple a lesson.â Linda said to fight against injustice.
Nancy explained, âLet them be. They may be here to break up today.â
âBreak up? Whatâs going on?â
âGrandpaâs death has been a huge blow to Nicholas. We have decided not to divorce and to make it work.â
Linda immediately held Nancyâs hand and asked with concern. âNancy, have you thought about. it? Did you decide to stay in this marriage with a man who doesnât love you?â
Tears welled up in her eyes.
Nancy raised her head and blinked.
Then, Nancy took a deep breath and looked at Linda. âYes, Iâve decided to try it again.â
âWe agreed on three years at the beginning, and there is still one year left. I want to give it another chance.â
âIf a year later, he still has no feelings for me. I will give up no matter how painful it isâ
Linda looked at Nancy and felt pity for her.
3/4 Linda only uttered one sentence after a long time. âGirl, is he worth it?â
âHe may not be worth it, but I want to give myself a good reason, even if I give up. Besides....
Nancy touched her belly, and her eyes softened. âWe have a baby, and I want to give the baby a chance to have a family.â
Looking into Nancyâs eyes, Linda understood everything.
Linda did not persuade Nancy anymore.
Because, in many ways, they were the same.
Though knowing that itâs not worth it...
But they wonât give up if they havenât tried it themselves.
On the other side, Madelline saw Nicholas had been drinking coffee.
Nicholas finished his coffee in less than three minutes.
Madelline was finally unable to bear it any longer and took the initiative to speak. âNicholas, do you have something important to say?â
Since Grandpa has passed away. Nicholas and Nancy should also get a divorce.
The reason Nicholas asked her out today should be to propose a marriage.
Nicholas must be very nervous now, so he finished a whole cup of coffee at once.
Madelline took it for granted.
Nicholas finally said, âI have something important to tell you in person.â
âAlright, then tell me.â Madelline looked at him with anticipation and excitement.
âMadelline, letâs break up. You should marry a good man,â
âWhat?â Madelline raised her head in disbelief. She was utterly stunned. âNicholas, what are you talking about? I donât get it.â
