Chapter 46
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 46 We Werenât Getting Divorced, Were We?
Nancy hugged Nicholasâ waist tightly while her head pressed against his back.
Nicholas felt the warmth, and his body became more stiff.
After moving his fingers, Nicholas finally spoke, âOkay.â
Just a word.
Although it was so simple, Nancy was very delighted and contented.
After reaching home, Nicholas prepared a hot water tub for Nancy.
It rained heavily today. They had been drenched in the rain for several hours. If they donât get rid of the cold on their bodies, they might catch a cold again later.
After taking a bath, Nancy did feel much warmer.
Nancyâs face was also not as pale as before.
While Nicholas was showering, Nancy immediately drank medicine to protect the fetus with warm water.
Then she went to bed and slept.
Sleepy.
She was too sleepy.
Nicholas went to bed after taking a shower. When he was about to call Nancy, Nicholas found that Nancy had already fallen asleep in bed.
âLiarâ
Nicholas reached out and touched Nancyâs hair. His eyes filled with tenderness.
She just pitifully said that she couldnât fall asleep without him hugging her, but she fell asleep in the blink of an eye.
After not sleeping for four days, Nicholas laid down next to her and fell asleep as soon as he closed his eyes.
In the middle of the night, Nancy touched a warm wall in a daze.
She smiled, turned around, and went back to sleep peacefully.
1/5 This time, both of them slept deeply.
They woke up after a nightâs sleep, and it was already ten oâclock.
The sunlight outside the window was intense, shining through and hurting everybodyâs eyes.
Nancy quickly turned around but instantly met Nicholasâ gaze.
His eyes were as dark and deep as ever.
Nancy immediately lowered her head.
There have been too many changes recently.
If not for Grandpaâs sudden passing, they would have divorced long ago, becoming strangers.
Meanwhile, at this moment, they were still lying on the same bed and looking at each other.
Wasnât it ironic?
âWho said she had to hug me to fall asleep but fell asleep after I got out of the shower?â Nicholas spoke first.
Nancy raised her head and felt embarrassed. âIâm sorry, I was too sleepy. I fell asleep as soon as I got to bed.â
âDid you sleep well?â
âYes, I sleep well.â
Nicholas lifted the quilt and got up from the bed. He opened the closet to take a beige dress and put it on the bed.
Nancy was a bit surprised. If she remembered correctly, this was the first time he took the initiative to get her clothes during their two-year marriage. Of course, except for the pajamas at that time.
âFaster, get up and have breakfast. You are not feeling well, so you shouldnât skip breakfast.â
âOkayâ
Nancy nodded. She took the clothes and put them on quickly.
After washing up, they went to the dining room together.
Breakfast was ready in the dining room. All were Nancyâs favorite dishes.
Nancy looked at the breakfast on the table, and her thoughts instantly returned to the day.
2/5 Nicholas proposed to divorce.
This situation was very similar to that day.
Thinking of his tone when he mentioned divorce. Nancyâs heart would still feel painful.
The dining room was so quiet that even they could hear the sounds of forks and spoons.
Both of them ate breakfast slowly, and neither of them spoke.
However, as if they had a tacit understanding, they ate breakfast very slowly.
Nancy drank a bowl of porridge for almost ten minutes.
In the end, they finished eating everything on the table. When there was nothing left to eat, they raised their heads to look at each other.
âNicholas...â
âNancy...â
Both of them were talking at the same time.
âYou go first!â Nancy said.
Like the other day, Nancy gave Nicholas the chance to speak first.
Although Grandpa had expressed his wish, she wouldnât force him if he insisted on getting a divorce. She would cooperate with him in going through with the divorce proceedings.
Nicholas frowned and looked at her. âYou go first this time.â
âAre you sure?â
âYes, you go first.â
âOkay.â Nancy nodded.
Nancy clenched her fists. Her palms were almost wet and covered with layers of sweat.
The words in her heart kept brewing in her throat, but no matter how she tried, she didnât know how to begin.
Ultimately, she closed her eyes, disregarded everything, and yelled, âI wanted to say, if possible, can we not get a divorce?â
âI regret it. I donât want a divorce.â
3/5 Nancy added.
After saying that, she felt as if the world had stopped.
The entire dining room was tranquil.
Holding her breath, Nancy waited earnestly for the answer.
When looking up, Nancy found that Nicholasâ eyebrows were still profoundly frowned upon.
She pinched her palm hard and immediately spoke. Iâm sorry, I overstepped.â
âIf you still insist on divorcing, we can go now. Iâve already prepared the documents.â
After saying that, Nancy got up and went upstairs to get the documents.
However, just as she stepped forward, someone suddenly grabbed her hands. The next moment, someone pulled her into a warm embrace.
Nicholas wrapped his arms around her from behind, his handsome chin lightly resting on her shoulder.
His scent suddenly covered her whole body.
Nancy took a breath, and her breath was filled with his scent.
Nancyâs heart was beating wildly. She couldnât control herself.
After a while, she finally asked tremblingly. âWhat do you mean?â
âNicholas, this is not funny at all.â
Holding her tighter, Nicholas whispered in a deep voice in her ears. âNancy, Iâm the one who should say Iâm sorry.â
âOkay.â
âWhat?â Nancy asked doubtfully.
Nicholas turned her around, his gaze was gentle as he looked at her. âYou just asked me if we could not divorce, and I agreed. I said okayâ
âWha... what?â Nancy was surprised and never expected this answer.
She stood there and was completely stunned.
Her brain was blank for a moment.
4/5 Nicholas stretched out his hand and took her into his arms. He spoke by her ears with a beautiful voice, telling her clearly and earnestly. âYou heard me right. Iâve thought about it. We wonât get a divorce. Letâs stay together for the rest of our lives.â
âIs it because of Grandpa?â
âIt doesnât matter what the reason is. What matters is that we wonât be separated.â
His evasiveness spoke for itself.
Nancy took a deep breath and looked up at him. âAlright.â
As for Madelline, this name suddenly has become taboo.
Nancy didnât mention it, and neither did Nicholas, At this moment, Nicholasâ phone rang.
After answering the phone, Nicholas walked over and spoke proactively. âItâs Madelline.â
âAre you going to see her?â
âYes, I need to clarify something with her.â
âOkay.â Nancy nodded.
As Nicholas walked out the door, Nancy watched his back blur further.
She wanted to ask a question: now that youâve decided not to divorce, will you and Madelline separate? What lies ahead for the two of you?
