Chapter 29
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 29 Dear Nicholas, I Love You Nancy was taken aback. She didnât expect that Grandpa had already known about Madellineâs return.
âGrandpa, Iâm sorry. I didnât mean to hide it from you intentionally.â
âI knew that you didnât want to make me worry, but now that sheâs back, have you thought about what to do?â
What should she do?
She also wanted to ask herself, what else could she do now?
In fact, from the moment Madelline returned, and Nicholas mentioned divorce, sheâs done everything she could.
She tried to convince him to stay.
But none of which worked.
Once a man decided on divorce, no force on earth could change his mind.
She was helpless.
And she had no other way.
Nancy raised her head, her lips parting, and was about to tell Grandpa, âItâs not necessary. Iâve decided to break up amicably with Nicholas and get a divorce.â
However, when she looked at Grandpaâs hair and aged face, all her words got stuck in her throat, and she had no idea how to start.
âDarling, what are you thinking? If you need my help, you must tell me immediately.â
âTwo years ago, I was able to drive that woman away. Two years later, I can still do it again.â
âNo.â Nancy refused without hesitation.
If Madelline left, Nicholas would surely think that it was her who provoked Grandpa to do it.
It was her cunning and tears in front of Grandpa that made Grandpa drive Madelline away.
In that case, she wouldnât be able to explain herself.
Since she had already decided to leave.
1/5 There was no need to make it difficult for each other.
Most importantly, she didnât want to leave behind an image of herself as a scheming, jealous. woman in Nicholasâ heart.
âGrandpa, Iâm sorry, but I want to handle the matter between Nicholas and me by myself.
Grandpa sighed and nodded, âAlright, I promise. But you also need to promise me that you will let me know if you ever need my help.â
âYes, you need not worry, Grandpa. I will definitely come to find you if I need anythingâ
Nicholas didnât come back for the whole day.
In the evening, just after Nancy finished bathing, she heard a sound on the door.
She thought it was him returning, so she hurriedly went to open the door, but it was actually Sarah, her mother-in-law.
âMom, do you have anything I can help?â
âNicholas hasnât come back yet, right?â Sarah asked.
âYeah, he just called me a while ago, saying thereâs a lot of work at the company, so that he might be back later.â
Nancyâs answer obviously couldnât hide the truth from Sarah.
âYou guys argued?â She asked again.
Nancy knew she couldnât keep it from her, so she nodded, âYes, there was a bit of disagreement, but Mom, you donât need to worry. Weâll work it out.â
âRegarding what happened yesterday, I want to apologize to you. I wanted to bring you two closer and help you get pregnant sooner. I didnât expect my good intentions to backfire and make you both distant.â
As soon as Sarah said that, Nancy immediately understood that she was referring to the drugged soup incident last night.
âMom, I know you meant well. How could I blame you?â
After sending Sarah away. Nancy lay in her bed.
She took a glance at her phone. It was already 10 oâclock.
He hadnât come back yet.
2/5 She waited for a full two hours, and it was already midnight. Nicholas still hadnât come back yet.
Nancy picked up her phone and scrolled through her friendâs social media posts. She thought she had seen something by mistake.
She refreshed the page multiple times.
The post was still clearly displayed in front of her eyes.
Madelline had posted two photos of herself, both with a gentle and alluring smile. The last photo showed a manâs hand.
But looking at it, Nancy knew it was Nicholasâ hand right away.
He has long fingers, white and clean; how could she not know?
More importantly, the ring heâs wearing is their wedding ring.
Itâs the ring Nancy personally placed on his finger.
She couldnât have been mistaken.
But this wasnât the one that hurt her the most.
What hurt the most was the affectionate caption under Madellineâs photo.
She wrote, âIf a man who never eats supper is willing to accompany you for supper, break all his principles for you, wait for you to be his bride unconditionally, I canât think of a more beautiful and eternal commitment. Dearest Nicholas, I love you.â
Under the post was a big red heart.
Not anyone else.
It was Nicholas who had liked the post.
Nancy turned off her phone, switched off the light, and crawled under the blanket.
The following day. Nancy packed her luggage and told Grandpa, her father-in-law, and her mother-in-law that she wanted to return home.
She could tell that Grandpa was very reluctant to see her leave.
Actually, she was reluctant, too.
But her relationship with Nicholas had been horrible in the past two days For a few days, she could still hide it 3/5 But as time passed, she couldnât hide it anymore.
After having breakfast, Nancy rode in the car and left.
Reaching the city center, she told the driver, âYou can drop me off here.â
âMrs. Sallow, Mr. Jacob Sallow asked me to send you safely back to your home.â
âSomeone will pick me up, donât worry!â
After speaking, Nancy left the car.
After the car left, she pulled her luggage to the public bus stop.
The previous bus had just left; the next must still be long. Nancy waited for more than ten minutes before the bus arrived.
What she didnât expect was that only a few people were waiting for the bus when she first arrived, but more and more people gathered within a short time.
When the bus stopped, everyone rushed to get on board.
She was carrying a suitcase with her, it was a little inconvenient.
At last, she was pushed to be the last one to board.
However, the bus door was a bit high, and her luggage was heavy.
Just as she was frustrated, a low and pleasant voice suddenly came from beside her, Iâll help you.â
Before she could react, the manâs elegant fingers had already taken her luggage, lifted it onto the bus, and placed it down steadily.
Nancy forgot to insert coins because she hadnât taken the public bus in a long time.
At that moment, the driver was angry and said, âThat girl, yes, the one with long hair wearing a yellow dress, you havenât paid your fare yet.â
Only then did Nancy remember that she didnât have any coins.
Once the driver shouted, everyone on the bus looked at her instantly.
Nancyâs face turned red in embarrassment.
Just as she was feeling awkward and unsure of what to do, a man handed over some coins and said with his deep voice, âIâve paid for her.â
âThank you!â
4/5 Nancy finally took a closer look at him. He stood upright, dan his whole body was radiating an aura of integrity and vitality.
That handsome face was almost as good as Nicholasâ; the difference was that there was more calmness and tenacity between his brows.
âThank you for helping me twice. How about Iâll add your contact and wire the money later.â
The manâs sharp eyes glanced at her, neither saying yes nor no.
To ensure he didnât misunderstand her intentions, Nancy quickly explained, âDonât worry, Iâm not trying to get your contact for any ulterior motive or to strike up a conversation. After I wire the money to you, you can block me if you donât want me in your contacts.â
However, the man remained standing still and didnât react.
Just when Nancy thought he wouldnât respond, that man took out his phone and gave his number.
