Chapter 23
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 23 Gave Up When It Hurts Nancyâs heart was in chaos. She suddenly didnât know what to do.
Nicholas decided to bring Madelline here because he couldnât wait anymore, so he wanted to introduce Madellineâs identity to everyone.
What about her?
What was her status?
Nancyâs face instantly turned pale. The phone fell from her hand.
Seeing this, Aunt Gloria picked it up quickly and said, âMrs. Sallow, whatâs wrong? You look so pale. Did the Young Master say something?â
Nancy nodded blankly. âNo.â
âSorry, I have to go to the bathroom.â
Nancy stood next to the sink, suddenly pouring cold water on her face as if she had gone crazy.
She didnât know how many times she washed her face. Her whole cheeks were so cold that there. was no warmth, and her hands were so cold that they turned red. She raised her head, brushed her hair, and looked at herself.
In the mirror, she was obviously wearing the most gorgeous clothes, simple yet pretty makeup, an expensive head ornament, and a necklace. However, at this moment, she felt like she was a clown, incredibly messy.
She obviously agreed that as soon as Grandpaâs birthday was over today, she would mention the divorce to him tomorrow..
Just half a day.
Only half a day was left, but he couldnât wait any longer.
Nancy took a long time in the bathroom, and the water kept flowing.
Aunt Gloria was afraid that something would happen to her. She knocked on the door worriedly. âMrs. Sallow, are you okay?â
Nancy didnât answer.
Aunt Gloria got no answer from Nancy and was a little anxious. She shouted again. âMrs. Sallow...
1/4 At this time, Nancy opened the door and looked at Aunt Gloria with a gentle smile. âIâm ready, letâs go!â
âAre you still waiting for Young Master?â
Nancy shook her head. âNo need. He will be here soon.â
Moreover, he didnât need her to wait anymore.
In the bathroom, Nancy thought a hundred times whether to go downstairs or not.
She could refuse if she didnât want to go, but she still came down.
She didnât want to disappoint Jacob. She didnât want to leave any regrets on his birthday. Besides that...
Perhaps she would give up if she went.
She might give up when she sees Nicholas introduce Madelline in front of everyone and deny her existence.
A pain could only be felt when you see it with your own eyes. After that, she could completely give up.
When Nancy went downstairs, Grandpa had been there. Almost all the guests had arrived, and only two seats remained empty.
Nancy glanced and found that the remaining ones belonged to her and Nicholas.
It seemed that he had yet to arrive.
Nancy came down. Jacob was delighted and took her hand. âNancy, come here and sit next to me.â
âOkay, Grandpa.â
Nancy nodded obediently and sat down next to Jacob.
At this point, Jacob saw the vacant seat next to Nancy. Displeased, he immediately frowned and asked, âWhere is he? He is still not here. What is he busy with?â
Nancy smiled and grabbed Jacobâs arm. She replied sweetly, âGrandpa, youâve wronged my husband. There really is something urgent happened in the company that he had to go.â
âWe all know that Grandpaâs birthday is the most important thing, but if something happens to the company, Grandpa wonât be happy either. That is the hard work of your whole life.â
After Nancy finished speaking, Jacobâs face relaxed a lot.
2/4 âYou know how to talk. That kid can make me furious as soon as he opens his mouth.â
Across the round table, Alice watched Nancy and Jacob talking. She looked furious when Nancy coaxed Jacob to smile.
Especially when she found out that the woman was the same person she had just pushed into the swimming pool, she became even more furious.
Yvette tugged at Aliceâs clothes. âAlice, who is that? Iâve never seen her before. Why did she suddenly sit next to your grandpa?â
âLook at you. You are sitting thousands of miles away from your grandpa. Youâre so stupid. Such a good seat so close to Grandpa. You can talk to him if you sit there. Why donât you sit there? You let an outsider take advantage of it.â
Alice felt wronged. âMom, donât talk nonsense. How do you know I didnât go to take that seat?â
âWhat do you mean?â Yvette sensed something was wrong.
âAfter finding out where my grandpaâs seat was, I immediately sat beside him and waited. As a result, my grandpa sent me away as soon as he came, saying that it was someone elseâs, and asked me to sit here.â
âJust admit that youâre stupid. Isnât there another seat next to Grandpa?â
After Yvette finished speaking, she stared at the seat on the other side of Jacob.
Alice pouted and said impatiently, âMom, what do you know? Thatâs Nicholasâ seat. Do you dare to sit there?â
âSpeaking of Nicholas, why hasnât he come? How could he be late on his grandpaâs birthday? Let me tell you....
Just when she was halfway through her words, Uncle Joe ran over happily. âYoung Master is back.
At the next moment, Nicholas appeared at the entrance of the hall. He wore the black suit in the morning, walked through tables and seats, and finally walked to Jacob and sat on his left side.
Nancy was stunned.
Why was he alone?
Didnât he bring Madelline with him?
As soon as Nicholas arrived, lunch started.
Although Jacob always seemed to criticize Nicholas on the surface, he still favored this grandson.
3/4 In addition, Nicholas was the only grandson he approved. Of course, he would spoil Nicholas.
At the banquet, Nancy ate without appetite. There were some questions on her mind, where is Madelline? Didnât they come together?
Would Nicholas call Madelline out after the banquet was over and the guests left?
The phone rang. Nancy looked at it. It was a WhatsApp message from Nicholas: âWhat are you. thinking about so absorbedly?
Eat properly.
Nancy replied, âIâm thinking about Madelline.â
Nicholas replied: â?â
Nancy didnât hold back and asked: âDidnât you bring her here? Why didnât she come in?â
âEat properly. Your little brain is just full of messy thoughts.â
âWhen did I say I would bring her here?â
âDo you think you are stupid or I am stupid?â
Nancy was speechless.
He really didnât hesitate to seize every opportunity to talk harshly to her.
Halfway through the meal, Alice couldnât bear it any longer and said, âNicholas, where is your wife? Youâve been married for two years, but I, as a younger sister, have never seen your wife. Today is Grandpaâs 80th birthday. Why doesnât she come out and show her face?â
Nicholas glanced at her coldly. His eyes were full of warning.
If Alice were sensible, she would keep her mouth shut obediently.
But she was an idiot. She kept pressing on it, âNicholas, your wife is too ignorant. As expected of someone from a humble family.
She doesnât respect Grandpa at all. She is better kept under the table.â
âWe are just curious. It doesnât matter sheâs fat, thin, beautiful, or ugly. Let us see her so we can fulfill our curiosity!â
Seeing this, Yvette added, âThatâs right, Nicholas. Your sister is right. I really want to take a look at her. I heard that she was the one who insisted on marrying you. Tsk tsk, she doesnât have any.
Shame Nicholas suddenly put down the spoon in his hand and shot his cold stare at Yvette before she finished speaking.
