Chapter 185
Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 185 I Have A Boyfriend And I Love Him Julian was taken aback by Nancyâs presence. His expression immediately turned cold as he growled. âI underestimated you. To think you actually came to my office.â
âI donât know where you live, nor do I have your phone number. I only know where your office is, so this is the only place I could come, Nancy replied.
It was clear that they were talking about two different things.
Julian thought she was stalking him and shamelessly approaching him in his office.
However, Nancy was there to return the box to him.
âWhat is it?â he asked, lowering his head instead of looking at her.
She stepped forward and placed the gift box in front of him.
It was a beautiful box, and he naturally misunderstood what she meant by it. âIs this for me?â
âYes.â
He looked up at her. While Nancy was not conventionally beautiful, she still stood out from the crowd as she demurely stood there.
Her bright and clear eyes highlighted her beauty, surprising Julian when he saw her.
However, her constant attempts to get close to him ruined any admiration he had for her beauty.
He looked up at her and scoffed. Take it back. I donât need it.
She frowned. âArenât you going to see whatâs in the box?â
âI donât care what it is. I donât want it.â
âWhat I meant was-â
Before she could finish speaking, he bluntly interrupted her, âIâve met plenty of women like you. If you leave right now, youâll still have your last shred of dignity. Donât make me say something disastrous.â
âWomen like me?â For some reason, that phrase stood out to Nancy. âWhile Iâm just a medical student and you are the deputy director of the hospital, please speak clearly. What do you mean by that?â
âHa! Julian let out a cold snort as his lips spread in a mocking smirk.
âI was holding back because youâre a woman, and I didnât want to humiliate you, but since you donât care about that, I wonât hold back anymore.â
1/4 He turned to look her in the eyes as he solemnly declared, âYou think that just because youâre pretty, you can use all sorts of schemes and little tricks to attract my attention and make me like you. If Iâm not mistaken, you must have done the same to every handsome man from a good family. Any man who falls for your ruse will be your beloved ticket to a higher social status.â
Derision was painted all over Julianâs face.
To his surprise, Nancy did not look embarrassed or shocked that her true plans had been exposed. Instead, she was furious.
Biting her lip, she stood there with a straight back as her face changed between red and stark white. She was incredibly angry.
She might not have understood what he actually meant before, but now she did.
He actually thought she was trying to seduce him so that she could climb higher using him.
To put it bluntly, he thought she was a scheming gold-digger.
What a joke! He thinks too highly of himself.
Nancy suppressed the raging blaze within her and smirked.
As she opened the gift box and pushed it over to him, she said, âMr. Jadin, this is a box of jewelry your mother gave me just now.
I donât know who told her you took me to your home for the night, but she now thinks Iâm your girlfriend. She insisted I take this.
Iâm here to return the gift to you, untouched.â
This time, it was Julianâs turn to be sturned.
Never in a million years did he expect this to happen.
âWhat did you say?â His eyes widened with disbelief.
âIâm telling the truth. If you donât believe me, you can check with your mother, Nancy calmly stated.
âAlso, Iâm not a gold-digger like you mentioned earlier. I never planned on getting your attention. All of those encounters were accidents, but itâs not like I can do anything if you donât believe me.â
âYou were staring at me at the restaurant. Do you really think Iâd believe you?â He raised an eyebrow as he sneered..
She coldly smiled at that.
âMy apologies for what happened back then. It was so dimly lit that I mistakenly thought you were my boyfriend. You two look the same when youâre drinking, so I kept looking at you.â
âNonsense!â Julian loudly responded. The embarrassment he felt turned into rage as he started to lose control of his temper.

2/4 âLet me repeat myself-you have misunderstood the situation. I have a boyfriend, and I love him. dearly. As for you, while you are the dream guy for many of the women working here, I donât feel anything for you. Iâve returned your motherâs gifts. Please confirm it with her.â
Nancy then strode out of the room, leaving Julian alone in the large office.
Minutes passed, yet he still could not believe what had happened.
A misunderstanding? How can she call it a misunderstanding? Thatâs impossible!
After all, it was humiliating to be seen as a substitute for another man due to his looks.
It would be a lie to say Julian was not angry.
In the end, Nancy got away scot-free, while Julian looked like someone who thought too highly of himself.
When he looked at the gift box once more, he called his mother.
âHey, Julian...â
âYou gave Nancy Cohen jewelry?â he asked bluntly.
âYes. What about it? Arenât I amazing?â
He massaged his temples to combat his headache as he said, âI told you to stay home, Mom. Go shopping if youâre bored. Why are you meddling in this? Do you know what a joke youâve turned this into? She has a boyfriend and is not interested in me at all.
Look at what a mess youâve made with blind matchmaking!â
âA boyfriend?â she exclaimed in disbelief. âHow could that be? Iâve looked into her, Julian. She doesnât have one. Sheâs a young lady, so she might be saying that because sheâs shy. The more she plays hard to get, the more you have to seize this chance to win her heart over.â
He sighed. It was impossible to communicate with his mother.
âForget it. Anyway, stop meddling in my business. Iâll take care of it.â
He furiously hung up.
Suddenly, he recalled the words Nancy had said, I have a boyfriend and I love him dearly. As for you, I donât feel anything for you.
Julian got to his feet and went looking for Nancy.
When he arrived at the hospital entrance, he spotted Nancy. Just as he was about to call out to her, she suddenly ran out.
He watched as she got into a car.

3/4 expensive.
Ha! He coldly sneered.
As he turned around, his eyes lost all warmth.
Was he merely a substitute for her?
Now, he found himself captivated by her.
