Mr. Sallow's Sinful Wife by Maisie Chasey
Chapter 15 He Was Insane, He Almost Kissed Her Nancy was about to scream, but the next moment, a familiar voice came from above, âDonât be afraid, itâs me.â
This voice?
If she didnât hear it wrong, it was Nicholasâ voice.
When Nancy opened her eyes, she saw a handsome man, chiseled face with clear, starry eyes and defined eyebrows, she was instantly stunned.
After being in a daze, she finally came to her senses and asked him calmly. âWhy are you back?â
âWhy? From what you have just said, it seems that I shouldnât have returned?â Nicholas raised his eyebrow.
âI thought you would spend the night with her in the hospital.
She didnât expect him to return, especially when he lost his temper during the day.
Nancy regretted what she had just said as she sensitively noticed that the atmosphere between them had become intense.
At this moment, Nicholas suddenly turned off the lights, then hugged her and lay on the bed. covered her with a quilt, and said with a low voice in her ears, âSleep!â
His closeness caused Nancyâs ears to tingle with the warmth of his breath, making her cheeks soft and flushed as he talked.
In the darkness, her blushed cheeks looked even cuter.
Being hugged by him suddenly and having his scent all over her nose, Nancy felt a little strange. momentarily.
She clenched her fists and placed them cautiously on her chest.
Hesitating momentarily, she licked her lips and asked gently, âUm, you havenât taken a shower yet, right?
As soon as these words came out, Nicholas instantly lowered his head, and his pitch black eyes stared at Nancyâs eyes intensely.
A pleasant laugh came from his throat the next moment, âHow did you know I havenât showered?â
âYou just came back!
1/5 He held her tighter, and Nicholasâ enchanting voice gently explained, âI came back right after you fell asleep. Seeing you sleeping soundly, I didnât want to disturb you. Iâve been working in the study room after the bath. I rushed over as soon as I heard the thunder and lightning.â
Nancy nestled in his embrace, feeling her heart skip a few beats.
She would hardly have believed it if she hadnât heard it with her own ears.
âNicholas, what kind of person you are?â
âHe was always like this. Giving a slap, then offering a sweet date later.
However, her happiness wonât last for long. Nicholas could make her cry again in no time.
âWhy did you have to come over when the thunder happened?â Nancy couldnât help but ask.
âBecause His dark eyes were firmly locked onto Nancyâs, emphasizing each word he said, âI remember that someone is most afraid of thunder and lightning, crying whenever it is this kind.
of weather.â
Of course, Nancy didnât want to admit she was a coward and didnât remember telling him this.
How can he know?
âWho... who is crying? You are talking nonsense!â Nancyâs confidence wavered.
Nicholas chuckled softly. âThen who just turned on all the lights and hid under the blanket, refusing to come out?â
Nancy was speechless.
Did he have to point out her flaws?
In the end, Nancy could only surrender, âOkay, I admit. Iâm afraid of thunder and lightning, but I have never told you. How did you find out?â
Nicholas suddenly flicked her head with his fingers and said, âHey, not everything has to be said. You can discover things from daily life with enough care and attention.â
âThen how did you find out?â
âAt the beginning of our marriage, whenever there was thunder, you used to clutch the blanket tightly, and you wouldnât move.
But later, you got smarter. When there was thunder, you would hug me tightly and snuggle into my arms, clinging to me like a rope.â
Who snuggled?
She certainly didnât!
2/5 Her sound shrieked into high pitch.
âI didnât snuggle! Itâs because you found me so fragrant and wanted to hug me,â Nancy teased with a blush.
Initially, she was no longer sleepy.
As she smelled his scent and listened to his robust and rhythmic heartbeat, Nancy began to feel drowsy again.
âWhat about him, the man you have loved for so long? Does he know about these habits of yours?â Nicholas suddenly asked.
Nancy didnât answer.
In the night, he didnât get a response for a long time.
Lowering his head once more, he discovered that Nancy had already fallen asleep in his arms. with her eyes closed.
Her facial complexion was white, delicate, and small in size.
Her long, curly eyelashes fluttered, mainly when she spoke.
Now she was asleep, looking like a little fairy.
Nicholas looked at her and suddenly stretched out his hand like he was possessed.
However, as soon as his fingers touched Nancyâs lips, he instantly withdrew them as if shocked.
He sighed and looked out the window with a sense of frustration.
âOh, Nicholas, have you gone insane? Remember, youâre going to get a divorce soon.â
It was such a perverse day that he would ask her about that man.
And, he lied.
He didnât return early. When he saw the sky turned dark, the looming storm, and felt like there would be strong winds and heavy rain, he rushed back from the hospital Speaking of the reasons, even he found it somewhat absurd.
He was afraid she would be scared of stormy nights and couldnât sleep well.
The next day. Nancy slept in until broad daylight.
3/5 She didnât wake up until the bright sunlight streamed in..
She glanced at her phone and realized it was already past nine in the morning.
Upon looking more carefully, she noticed there were several missed calls, and all of them were from Grandpa.
Nancy dialed back and said playfully, âGrandpa, sorry for calling you back so late.â
On the other end, Grandpa chuckled, âNo worries. Let me guess, you must be having a lazy lie-in.â
âOh, Grandpa, you always guess so accurately! I feel so defeated,â Nancy replied playfully.
âSleeping is good. Youâll wake up all fresh and rosy. In the future, you can give birth to a fair and chubby great-grandchild for me,â Grandpa chirped.
Nancy instantly touched her stomach, filled with guilt.
She was already pregnant, and even though Grandpa eagerly looked forward to this baby, she couldnât say anything.
The feeling was too much to bear, and she felt sorry for Grandpa.
âGrandpa, Iâm sorry!â
âHey, donât be sorry. I got a little too hurried. Besides, we should blame Nicholas for not being. proactive enough.â
âBy the way, itâs my birthday in two days. I want you and Nicholas to come back and stay with me these few days. Please keep this old man company.
Nancy obediently agreed, âOf course, Grandpa. Iâll tell Nicholas right away. Weâll come back together tonight and have dinner with you.â
âGreat! Iâll have your favorite dishes prepared.â
âThank you, Grandpa!â
After hanging up the phone, Nancy got up, showered, had breakfast, and then went to find Nicholas.
Without thinking, Nancy knew he must be at Madellineâs place, so she headed straight to the hospital.
The door to the hospital room was slightly ajar.
Nancy reached out and pushed it open, about to speak.
4/5 However, all sounds abruptly stopped when she saw the scene before her..
She covered her mouth, almost unable to believe what she was seeing.
Under the golden sunlight, with a gentle breeze rustling the white curtains, Nicholas sat on the edge of the bed, and Madelline sat on the bed.
Her delicate and soft white arms gently hooked around Nicholasâ neck. A tender smile played on her lips, her red lips slowly inching closer to his.
