10. New but good

Mahi's POV:

His words left me speechless. He is more intimidating than his mother but I promise I won't let him affect me. And why the hell my room is beside his, oh god how these 6 months will pass.

"Where is Kabir?" Aunty's voice brought me back to reality.

"I don't know, he just left." and I don't want to know where he is, I thought to myself.

"Okay let me show you the rest of the house." she said as we went downstairs and I just nodded.

She showed me her house, it was beautiful and spacious. The best part of the house was the backyard, there was a small garden and a porch swing. I can practice there, it feels peaceful and beautiful.

After the home tour she went to her room and I went to mine to unpack all the stuff. I organized my wardrobe and all the other essentials. "Oh god it's already 5:30!" I looked at the phone screen and someone knocked.

"Yes?" I responded looking at the closed door.

"Mahi beta are you done?" Aunty asked as she opened the door and entered.

"Yea I am almost done. Do you need anything?" I asked

"No. I just came to ask if you need anything. Shall we go to shop for the pottery essentials? I was not joking when I asked you to teach me." She smiled.

"No I am good. Yes we can go and I was also serious when I told you that I will teach you." I said as a big smile made its way on her lips. She is really a kind person, not anything like I used to think of her back in college.

"Let's go then I am waiting in the living room." She made her way out.

I quickly changed and went downstairs. She was all ready and we both made our way to her car. First we went to the market to buy the tools and then we went to a cafe. "We can buy the potter's wheel online and also the racks." I said as I took a sip of my cold coffee.

"You really love pottery, I can say that because when you talk about it your eyes shine more brightly." She said as she looked at me.

"I do love it, it's the only thing that makes me happy besides music." I found myself telling her, It's new that I am talking about myself to someone but it also feels good.

"What else do you like besides dosa?" She asked out of nowhere.

"There are a lot of things that I like but Kadai Paneer is my favorite too." I said and I think time with her will be good, with her things feel easy, not like my mom. "Don't go there again Mahi" I told myself internally.

"Okay let's go, I have a few more things to buy." She stood up and I followed her.

"No need to buy me these Aparna aunty, I already have a lot of clothes." I handed her back the dress she chose for me.

"Take it as a welcome gift from me beta and I am sure you will look pretty in it." She said as she put the dress on me to check if it suits.

"Besides I have never seen you in any traditional dress before, so you need to take this." She handed the dress to the salesperson to pack it. Who will tell her that she never saw me in traditional because I never wear it!

"It's already 8. We should go back now." she said and we left the shop. We reached home and Mr. Jerk was already present there. Yes If he can give me a nickname so can I.

"Looks like you guys had a great time." He said as he looked at his mother and then at me.

"Yes we had a lot of fun." Aunty said and kept all the shopping bags on the couch.

"That's great. The dinner is ready." He told us and went to take his seat on the dining table.

"Come Mahi, let's have dinner." Aunty said and I went to wash my hands. I came back and took a seat beside aunty.

I was surprised to look at the dishes, It was Kadai Paneer. I looked at her and she understood "I texted him to make Kadai Paneer." She explained and that's when I remembered that she told him to prepare dinner tonight.

"Oh so this was the reason you told me to make it, I was surprised because you never demand like this and eat whatever I cook for you, so she was the special reason." He looked at her and then at me.

Is he taunting me? I never demanded it at the first place she asked me about it and how would I know she would tell him to cook it for me. I wanted to tell him all this but instead I just looked away.

"Come on Mahi beta try it." She told me and I sighed.

I took the first morsel and boom the flavors blasted in my mouth. I never had this kind of delicious Kadai Paneer in my life. He indeed is good at cooking.

"How is it?" Aunty asked me and I looked at him. He was waiting for my response, I can say that looking at his face.

"It's good but it can be improved." I won't satisfy him by saying it's the best. I looked at him again to see his expression. I am sure he must be pissed but to my dismay that jerk was smirking.

"I am sorry beta if it is not to your liking you can leave it if you don't want to eat it." Aunty said with a concerned voice but that's not what I meant.

"No No I can eat it." I said instantly I don't want to make her feel bad.

"Kabir, make sure you improve it next time." She scolded him and it was my turn to smirk.

"Okay your highness." He calmly said with a smile on his face. He also know how to act huh!

"I almost forgot you guys brought ice-cream too. I will bring it." She stood up and went toward the kitchen.

"I see, dolphin you didn't like what I made for you." He said, taking a sip from his glass.

"Yea not up to the mark Mr Mehra." I said to get a reaction from him but he just smiled.

"Then I can only try hard to make it better for you." He said and I can only wonder how he is so calm.

"Don't you feel angry? I mean you invested your precious time but I didn't like it and you even got scolded." I found myself asking and he just laughed.

"I don't know dolphin, I can't bring myself to be angry at you." He said and I went silent. What to say on this now?

"Here" Aparna aunty served us ice-cream. "I don't know which one you like so I randomly chose this." She explained.

"No aunty, your choice is best, mint chocolate chip is my favorite." I said and she smiled.

We all were done with our dinner and ice cream. Aparna aunty asked if I wanted to join her to watch tv but I denied, Mr Mehra was nowhere to be seen. I am too tired, all I want to do is hug bubbles and sleep.

I went upstairs but stopped in front of my room as I remembered I wanted to ask aunty if we can order the stuff online tomorrow.

"Why are you here?" A deep familiar voice suddenly came and I put both of my hands on my chest as I was scared to death.

"Hey calm down, it's me." Kabir said and I turned to look at him.

"You scared me to death." I said and closed my eyes to calm myself down.

"And you trouble me to death." He said and I opened my eyes.

"What does that mean?" I raised my eyebrows and he just kept looking at me.

"I swear even I don't know what and why." It looked like he was thinking about something.

"Huh?" He is one of the most complex and irritating human beings I have ever met.

"Good night dolphin." He whispered and left.

Why the hell does he always leave like this?
