FORTY-FOUR
The Duo » yoonmin [FF]
YOONGI DOESN'T KNOW how he got here and where he is exactly but he knew the place is somehow familiar.
He turns around, trying to see something that gives him an answer to where he exactly is. Walking around the black haired male then sees a sign, telling him where he is.
His heart starts beating faster in his chest, he frowns, not knowing how and why he got here but he does remember this place.
It's the place where his heart got broken in thousand pieces.
Slowly he approaches the bridge, that bridge. It's just like in his memories.
It's dark but warm outside, a comfortable breeze touches his skin, making a shiver run down his spine even though he doesn't feel cold. Actually he doesn't feel anything at all.
Getting closer to the bridge, he sees a familiar slim body, long dark hair, soft facial features. His heart skipped a beat, it's her.
âS-Soojin?" His voice is shaking, just like his whole body. The same situation he tried to forget is now happening again.
âS-Soojin-" He repeats taking a few unsteady steps closer to her. She's already leaning over the fence, ready to end it all - again.
Tears fall down Yoongi's cheek, his hands are shaking as he's trying to stop the sob that is about to leave his lips by putting his hand over his mouth.
âD-don't-"
Suddenly another figure appears, his face covered by darkness at first but as soon as he stepped into the light, Yoongi recognizes him.
âJ-Jimin!" He says, his voice slightly louder, his heart shattering in pieces. Jimin approaches Soojin, standing right next to her before both of them step onto the fence and-
âHyung!" A familiar voice echos through his head, making him open his eyes widely, âWake up."
Opening his eyes he looks straight into a pair of worried ones as Jimin's face is right above Yoongi's. A frown appears on the older male's face as he tries to come back to reality for good.
The dream - it was so real, so painful.
âJ-Jimin." Yoongi breathes out, a rather relieved sound leaving his lips.
âYou're still here." He whispers, making Jimin frown slightly as he reaches out to touch Jimin's warm cheek.
âOf course I am." The younger responds still worried about his Hyung who had a nightmare.
âYou were shouting my name.." Jimin says while placing his hand on Yoongi's hand which is still resting on his cheek.
âI- it was just a nightmare. Sorry I made you worry." Yoongi mumbles, trying to break the eye contact because suddenly he felt nervous and embarrassed.
Jimin however shakes his head, âNo it's okay, I hope it wasn't that bad."
Yoongi forces a short smile on his lips. âIt's nothing- to worry about. I'm fine now." With that he softly removes a strand of hair out of Jimin's face, causing a sweet smile to form on his plump lips.
However it disappears in the next moment. âWe should get ready for the funeral."
It's been two days since the task and the death of the victim. Since then Jimin and Yoongi were inseparable. They slept in the same room, in Yoongi's, and spent the whole day together.
At work both of them had to go to specific meetings where they had to hand in a report about the case. Jimin also had an appointment with a psychologist to talk about the case and how he feels about it.
It helped him to deal with it so far and he will have a few more appointments with her in the next weeks.
Today is the funeral and Jimin and Yoongi were allowed to be part of it, since they were the ones who caught the murderer.
Jimin has a bad feeling, it's kind of making him feel sick to attend the funeral but the psychologist said it would be a good first step to accept it.
âAre you sure you want to do this?" Yoongi asks as he approaches Jimin, who went to his own room to get dressed. The younger looks at himself in the mirror, he likes his suit but hates the occasion he has to wear it to.
âYes." He simply answers, putting the tie around his neck before facing his Hyung. Without having to say a word, Yoongi starts tying the tie because Jimin still hasn't learned how to do it himself.
âI will be there for you." Yoongi says, earning a nod from the younger.
âI know." Jimin responds with a smile.
ââ¬
The funeral was okay, there weren't many people so it was rather calm. The family was mourning about their loss, the victim was young and very much loved by them.
Jimin was grieving too, a different type of grieve of course but it was the right decision to come here.
At the end of the ceremony, Jimin and Yoongi walked up to her parents, and had a conversation with them. Jimin expected them to be angry and mad but in fact it was the opposite. They were glad that the murderer got caught and that no one else was harmed. They even thanked them.
It really helped Jimin to accept and deal with what happened.
On their way home, Yoongi held his hand the whole ride without them having to talk at all. They just enjoyed each other company. It was peaceful and calm. Jimin liked it like that.
It was when they arrived that Yoongi started a conversation.
âYou know it's your birthday in two days." The elder says causing Jimin to look at him with a frown.
âRight.." He mumbles, he almost forgot, âYou remembered."
âOf course I remembered." Yoongi replies with a soft smile, looking down on their intertwined fingers. It's a warm feeling that surrounds his heart.
For the first time in a while now, Yoongi feels at ease. Now finally accepting his own feeling and letting Jimin into his heart, is so much easier. It's how it's meant to be. Yoongi now knows.
âThank you, Hyung." Jimin mumbles as he averts his gaze from their hands to Yoongi's face. His heart melts at the sight of the elder, looking at him so lovingly.
No matter how hard the last few weeks were, Jimin couldn't be happier now. He feels safe and relieved. This is what he wished for, this is what he wanted. He wanted Yoongi, he wanted his affection and attention, his presence and pretty smile. He wanted him so bad. And now it feels real. They didn't talk about it but Jimin now knows, it's finally real.
Even though Jimin thought it was just a dream, he remembers what he said to Yoongi that night. He told Yoongi that he loves him. And he would say it again, and again. Maybe he was just too tired and didn't know what he was saying, but now he knows, he would say it again. Anytime.
âDon't thank me." Yoongi responds with a more serious expression before his face relaxes again. He pulls Jimin's hand closer to his face, before placing a soft kiss on Jimin's fingers.
Jimin just knows, that's love.
ââ¬
Jimin's birthday came sooner than expected. His last birthday wasn't that pleasant, he spent it alone at some bar. He wasn't even partying he was just depressed and lonely.
But now one year later so much has changed. His life is so much better now. No hiding, no loneliness. He has friends now, he has found a place he can call home. It couldn't be better. Especially now that the problems with his feelings and his relationship with Yoongi are solved. At least he thinks they are.
Jimin didn't really expected anything big for his birthday, he isn't even sure if he even told the others about his birthday in the first place. He doesn't want to celebrate it big, maybe just by ordering some take out and spending the evening with the members.
Going downstairs after getting ready for work, he is suddenly greeted by his team mates, singing happy birthday to him. He cringed inside but he was beyond surprised and happy. In the past the only ones singing happy birthday for him, were his parents and it always felt awkward but it was lovely. Just like now. Even though he didn't really know how to react or act, he felt truly happy. This is his family now. He belongs to them as much as they belong to him. That's his rightful place. Here with his family.
Jimin approaches the group with a big smile, at first it was awkward for him but he got carried away by the positive and good vibes of the others. There's even a cake on the dining table, with candles waiting to be blown out by Jimin.
"Thank you guys, seriously." Jimin mumbled modest, "It wasn't necessary."
"Of course it was, Jimin." Namjoon spoke first, patting Jimin's back while flashing him a soft smile that revealed his deep and attractive dimples. The others agreed, while Taehyung and Jungkook pushed him to the cake in the middle of the dining table. Just then his eyes met a pair of dark ones. Those who melt him right away, those who make his knees weak and his heart running a marathon. It's Yoongi's dark eyes.
The elder smiles at him, with the softest and most loving smile Jimin ever received from someone. He couldn't think straight, his heart was screaming Yoongi's name even in this moment. So he smiled back, so sweet and pure, that Yoongi forgot to breathe for a second. There's nothing more beautiful than seeing Jimin smile. It made Yoongi's heart feel full of love.
"Make a wish!" Hoseok says, causing Jimin to break the eye contact with Yoongi, a soft blush spreading across his cheeks. He hates when his body reacts that way, so he tried to ignore it. Finally he turned to face the cake, slowly leaning down to reach it better.
A wish, huh? What should he wish for? Now that everything is back to normal, he couldn't be any happier. Now that he has a great job, a purpose, a wonderful supporting team, an amazing partner, there's nothing else he could wish for. Just for things to always stay this way.
And that's what he wished for when he blew out the candles.
It's a beautiful cake, it looked tasty and pretty and just as if Jin could read his mind, he answered Jimin's unsaid question.
"Yoongi made that cake for you." The eldest said with a soft smile, making Jimin immediately look at his partner. Yoongi just shrugged, feeling slightly ashamed that his secret is out now.
"We never got a cake from him." Jungkook complained, causing Tae to nod quickly. "We didn't even know he can bake!" The black haired officer says in agreement with his younger friend.
Jimin just chuckled, because somehow it made him feel special to be the only one who knew about Yoongi's secret talent. It's funny how such a small thing could light up his mood and warm up his heart.
Averting his gaze from the cake to Yoongi, Jimin could feel his heart skipping a beat when the elder was already staring at him. "Thank you." Jimin says softly. Yoongi just nods in response, his eyes never leaving Jimin.
They got Jimin a few presents, that they wanted to give him before they had to leave for work. Joon and Jin gifted him a high technology smartwatch, that they thought would be useful for work but for his everyday life as well. Hoseok bought tickets for an anime movie that the two wanted to see and his favorite snacks. Jungkook and Taehyung decided to buy him a video game he mentioned so many times and a few tickets for the arcade hall they went to last time. Jimin loved the gifts, they were all so well thought out, it made him realize how much attention they paid to him. He was beyond thankful and happy. Not because of the presents themselves, mostly because he had such great friends.
The only one who hasn't give him his present was Yoongi. Jimin didn't expect anything, but he's still curious.
"I'm sorry, I didn't wrap it up yet. I thought we would give you the presents tonight." Yoongi says, even though it's a lie he still looked apologetic. Yoongi has it all wrapped up and ready to be given to Jimin, but he wanted to do it without the others. So he came up with the lie, to give it Jimin tonight.
"It's fine, Hyung." Jimin responds with a smile.
Now he's even more eager to know, what Yoongi got him. It's not about the present itself, but just the thought, that Yoongi thought about him and wanted to give him something. He could barely await tonight.
What could it be?
