FORTY-TWO

JIMIN IGNORED THE elder the next day, he tried his best not to talk to him even though it's stupid.

Yoongi is his partner. They are a team - a duo. They were the Duo. But now, they act like strangers. Jimin hates it and so does Yoongi.

But the younger male's heart hurts so much, it's almost unendurable. He hates that he fell for Yoongi, that he loves him. Still he doesn't regret what they have or had. Their nights together, their kisses, the sex, the late night talks, the deep connection, the strong bond. Everything was so good, so real, so precious to Jimin.

Now that it's over, his heart feels empty and lost.

Avoiding the elder seems like the only solution. It's stupid, but talking to him was more painful.

Hoseok and Taehyung immediately knew something was odd about the two males when they went out for their mission. They were called to help the police, Namjoon gathered Yoongi, Jimin, Hoseok and Taehyung to go to the scene and see what's going on.

It meant to be no big task but soon they got involved into a heavy situation.

At the place where the police had called them to come, was a bomb found, gladly it wasn't activated but still it had to be defused.

Fortunately Hoseok has come too, as a bomb specialist he's able to defuse it. But first they have to make sure that no one else is at the building.

The police were evacuating the whole area around the building, Yoongi and Jimin as a duo are now checking the rooms in the building where the police hasn't been yet.

They're wearing their full gear as they walk down a long hallway, checking the rooms on the left and right sides.

Yoongi gave him a hand sign to move forward to the next floor.

On the next floor was a big lobby, more precisely it's a big open plan office. It seemed empty at first but suddenly a male with a mask appeared in front of him, in his arms a woman.

Jimin immediately looked to his partner before looking back at the male who's pointing a gun at the woman, while holding her tight. Her face is full of tears, she's trembling and crying but quiet.

The two Swat officers are pointing their guns at the male, „Surrender and we will do you no harm."

Yoongi's voice is calm, even though it's a risky situation. The man could shot her.

„Let me pass or I will kill her!" The man shouts, pressing the gun harder against the woman's tempel.

„We can figure things out- without this woman." Yoongi says, „Let her go. She has nothing to do with it."

The elder tried to take a step closer but the male just tightened his grip around her will shouting, „Don't come closer or I will shoot!!"

Yoongi showed Jimin the sign to stop and not move closer to stay back. Jimin obeyed.

„Put your guns down!" He shouts, once again threatening to hurt the woman. She cried out this time loudly, fear written all over her face.

Jimin's heart is beating fast. It's adrenaline and worry that's rushing through his body. He looks at the woman, she's young, so young and on the edge of being killed. They have to prevent it, at all cost.

Yoongi nods slowly putting his gun down, signaling Jimin to do the same. There's no way this man will get away with it. No way he will be able to escape with a whole police office being outside and bomb specialists who are about to defuse the bomb.

But still he has a hostage, which means they have to be extremely careful. Her safety is the most important thing right now.

Jimin does the same as Yoongi, slowly putting his gun down while holding the other hand up, his eyes never leaving the man in front of them.

The man started moving to the hallway Yoongi and Jimin just came from, still holding the woman tightly.

„We have no guns, you can go, just let her go." Yoongi says calmly trying to get closer to the man without making him angry.

The man almost reached the exit of the office.

„Argent." It was a stern demand but Jimin immediately knew what he had to do. It was always like that, Yoongi would say Jimin's code name and the younger knows, he has to use his powers.

And he did.

Well he tried.

Because it didn't work the way he wanted. His powers - didn't work.

Nothing happened.

It's already too late. Because Yoongi expected Jimin to umarm the male so that Yoongi could attack him but Jimin didn't do anything. His powers didn't umarm him and then everything happened so fast.

All Jimin hears is a loud gun shot.

Followed by a body that fell to the ground with a dull sound.

„Argent, the woman!" Yoongi's voice brought Jimin back to reality, it was as if his soul has left his body and was watching him from a different point of view.

But Yoongi's voice brought him back, he sees how the elder runs after the male and the woman lying on the ground.

Immediately he rushes over to her, his heart beating fast while his hands are shaking from the shock. Fuck, fuck.

„H-hello??" He asks loudly as squats down to the woman. The bullet hit her right through her chest, a big bloody wound is now covering her white shirt in red.

Leaning down, Jimin tries to hear her breath and checks her pulse afterwards, but nothing.

„D-don't- no- this can't be-" He mumbles as he checks her breath again. Blood is running down the edges of her mouth, her eyes slightly open and - empty.

She's dead.

Jimin's eyes filled with tears, as he stares down at the woman. He carefully grabs her lifeless body and places it on his thighs. His hands are shaking, they're full of blood, his heart hurts, it's so painful Jimin doesn't know what to do.

„Jimin!" His voice echos through Jimin's head but he doesn't react. He blurs out everything happening around him.

He feels a hand on his shoulder but he doesn't react.

From the corner of his eyes he sees Yoongi, kneeling down next to him and the dead woman.

„Hey-" Yoongi softly says, his voice low and calm to not surprise the younger.

„S-she's dead-" Jimin whispers, finally looking to his partner. His eyes are red and full of tears, but his face is emotionless.

Yoongi just nods slowly, looking down at the dead woman, before reaching out to close her eyes with his fingers.

Tears quietly fall down Jimin's face as he pulls the dead body closer to himself, hugging her without a word.

„How is he doing?" Hoseok asks as he watches Jimin through the glass wall. The younger is being asked about the mission and what happened.

Hoseok defused the bomb, the man was caught and carried away, no one got hurt. No one besides the woman that died in front of Jimin.

„I'm not sure." Yoongi responds, his eyes never leaving Jimin's face. He's worried, extremely worried about the younger. How could he lose control of his powers? That happened the last time when Jimin was still in training. Ever since then he's controlling his powers perfectly.

„He seems- traumatized." Hoseok says, the last word was more like a whisper.

„He probably is." Yoongi says turning around to lean against the wall while rubbing his face with his hands, „He's blaming himself for her death."

Hoseok sighs now also leaning against the wall next to Yoongi.

„I thought so. He's a sensitive boy." Hoseok says, biting his lower lip before looking at the male next to him. Yoongi seems really worried. Hoseok knows this feeling.

„Indeed." Yoongi mumbles, his fingers resting on his chin as he nervously plays with his lower lip with his thumb.

Hoseok notices that something's off. Yoongi is barely nervous but he feels that the elder is most likely hiding something. He and Taehyung already felt it when they were on their way to the mission. And more over Jimin's been acting strange for two weeks.

„What's with the two of you?" Hoseok asks trying to look Yoongi in the eyes but the elder is avoiding his gaze.

„What do you mean?" He mumbles.

„You know what I mean. You two act differently. What happened? You guys were the best duo for a while, everyone here talked about you." Hoseok responds, leaning closer to Yoongi, „Talk to me Yoongi. You know I'm here for you."

„It's nothing." Yoongi says while looking away and crossing his arms in front of his chest. Hoseok knows how to get Yoongi to talk.

„You're a bad liar." Hoseok responds with a sigh, „I've known you forever. We're brothers Yoongi, don't forget that."

Yoongi looks at him, the look on his face is for once desperate. Should he tell him?

A sigh leaves his lips, „We fell in love."

The silence after that was heavy. Yoongi felt a sudden pain in his chest now that he said those words out loud.

Hoseok next to him just nods, as if he already assumed it.

„So that's what's up." Hoseok says more to himself than to Yoongi but the elder heard him.

Humming in response, Yoongi doesn't dare to look at his friend. He's probably thinking that Yoongi is making the same mistake he did with Soojin. Being in love with his partner.

„You must be thinking that I'm stupid for making the same mistake twice-"

„No I'm not. You can't decide who you fall in love with. And I get it- Jimin is an amazing person." Hoseok interrupts him, making Yoongi look at again,  „But what's the matter now? Why are you guys like this?"

Yoongi sighs before rubbing his face with one hand, „When he confessed to me I told him.. that his feelings are wrong."

„So- you broke his heart." Hoseok concludes and makes Yoongi nod, „And that's why- his powers don't work."

„Yes that's my conclusion." Yoongi responds.

„That's messed up." Hoseok admits but the elder hums in agreement. It is messed up.

„But you know- your feelings aren't wrong. You just can't let them get between you and the duty you have to fulfill as a Swat officer." Hoseok adds placing his hand on Yoongi's shoulder, „Your feelings for Jimin, they aren't the problem. You deserve to be happy."

The elder just looks at him, his brows drawn together, while he bites his lower lips. He has shut his heart from any feelings to protect it, but all he did, was to push away the one thing that made him the happiest. The one person.

Ever since Soojin's death he has blamed himself and pushed away any feelings that could get to his heart. But Jimin - he just passed through Yoongi's wall. Jimin went straight for his heart and he stole it.

„It's okay. Don't try to push it away. It's worser if you two deny it. Trust me it's not the solution." Hoseok adds, flashing a comforting smile at the elder.

„Is it how you and Taehyung do it?" Yoongi asks carefully, causing a soft and quiet chuckle to leave Hoseok's lips.

„That's a different story." The younger responds while patting Yoongi's back, „Oh- seems like he's done."

Yoongi lifts his head and looks at Jimin through the glass wall as he stands up from his seat and heads to the door.

The elder feels his heart beating faster and a sudden nervousness taking over him as soon as Jimin left the room and spotted the two males waiting for him.

Jimin gives them a short look before turning around and walking away without a word.

Hoseok pushes Yoongi slightly into the direction, „Go talk to him."

Yoongi gulps but thanks the younger and says goodbye before following Jimin and catching up. Carefully he grabs his wrist, making him stop.

Seeing Jimin's eyes, Yoongi feels a rush of pain through his body, making his heart hurt even more. Jimin's beautiful silver colored eyes are sad. They look empty, and are bloody red.

„Jimin- I- want to talk to you." Yoongi stutters, a heavy feeling in his chest making it hard to breathe.

„I don't want to talk." Jimin says, freeing himself from Yoongi's grip, „Leave me alone, please."

And Yoongi did.

Surprise! I managed to write a few chapters so I wanted to surprise you tonight!

BUT WELL THAT WAS HEAVY-

It happened - a failed mission. What do you think, how will Jimin deal with it?
