Chapter 19

Sebastian

When Sebastian wakes up, he notices that Skye isn’t in bed with him anymore. He gets up and goes to his room to shower, and change into clean clothing. After showering, shaving, and changing into clean clothing, he heads downstairs, where Skye is in the kitchen with Alice.

“What are you two doing?” he asks.

“S…Sebby!” Skye exclaims, sounding startled.

“I’m teaching Skye how to make a new dish,” Alice explains, “She asked me a while ago to teach her how to cook.”

“I l…like t…to c…cook.”

“You do?” Sebastian asks.

She nods. “I c…cooked f…for Alpha N…Nathan.”

He lets out an unhappy growl. “You mean he forced you to cook for him.”

She looks away from him, nodding. “I’m s…supposed t…to g…go s…see Dr. P…Patel today.”

“Do you want me to go with you?”

“W…will you?”

“Of course, what time do you have to be there?”

“1 pm.”

“Alright, have fun with Alice. I’ll come find you when it’s time to leave.”

“O…okay.”

Sebastian leaves the kitchen and goes to his study to work on paperwork. Fifteen minutes later, there’s a knock on the door. “Come in!” Sebastian answers.

Skye comes in holding a plate of chicken breast and mashed potatoes. “H…here,” she says, handing him the plate and a fork, “try please.”

He takes the plate and the fork and takes a bite of the chicken and the mashed potatoes. “Mhmm, this is good,” he says, with food still in his mouth.

She giggles. “S…Sebby, d…don’t t…talk w…with f…food in y…your m…mouth.”

“You try.” He offers her some of the chicken breast and mashed potatoes.

She eats the bite of food, chewing it slowly to see if she likes the taste. “I…it’s g…good.”

“It is. Let’s go eat in the dining room.”

“O…okay.”

They walk into the dining room and sit down. Alice brings out plates of the chicken breast and mashed potatoes. Gray and Theo come into the room and sit down at the table next to their mother. They begin to eat with their hands. “Good!” Gray exclaims.

“Yum!” Theo shouts.

“I’m g…glad y…you l…like it,” Skye says, “I…is A…Alice g…going t…to eat?”

“I’m not sure,” Sebastian answers, “You want me to ask her?” She nods, so Sebastian mindlinks Alice and asks, “Alice, do you want to eat with us?”

“If you don’t mind, alpha.”

“I don’t, Skye’s the one who asked though.”

A few minutes later, Alice comes out with a plate of her own. She sits down and joins in on the conversation. Eventually, everyone finishes their food and Skye takes her boys to the bathroom to clean their hands and faces.

Once she returns to the living room, Sebastian asks, “Are you ready to go, Skye?”

She nods and follows him out to the car.

When Skye and Sebastian arrive at the hospital, they stop at the receptionist desk to ask for directions. Eventually, they make it to Dr. Patel’s office and Sebastian knocks on the door. “Come in!” Dr. Patel says. They enter the room. Dr. Patel is sitting in a chair. There are two other people in the room with her. “Skylar, Sebastian, Thomas and Ellie. Thomas, Ellie, Sebastian and Skylar.”

“H…hello,” Skylar says.

“Hi,” Ellie says softly, hiding behind Thomas.

“W…what’s g…going on?” Skye asks.

“Well, you two,” Dr. Patel says, pointing to Skye and Ellie, “both have some serious trauma in your past. I thought it would be helpful for you to meet someone similar to yourselves.”

“O…oh, I…er…um…” Skye looks around the room, completely flustered.

“Do I have to tell them what happened to me?” Ellie asks quietly.

“It would be good,” Dr. Patel answers, “you can have Thomas explain if it’s too hard for you to.” She turns to Skye. “Skylar, same goes for you, if you aren’t able to share your experience Sebastian or I will give a short summary.”

“O…okay,” Skye whispers.

They sit in silence for a few minutes. “Ellie,” Thomas says, “do you want to or should I?”

“You,” Ellie answers, “I can’t…”

His expression softens. “I know, kitten. It’s okay.” He turns to Sebastian and Skye. “I’m Thomas and this is my twin sister Ellie,” he starts, “When we were ten years old our house was broken into and our parents were murdered. I wasn’t home, Ellie was. She watched our parents die. We were taken in by a woman named Mila. Long story short, we started to work for an organization that deals with supernatural and human crimes. Our first case, she was captured and tortured. It took a while for me to come and get her. There are also some things that happened to her while working on cases, but that’s an even longer story.”

Skye’s eyes widen. “A…Alpha N…Nathan mistreated m…me,” she whispers, starting her own story, “h…he b…beat me, s…starved me, and t…took…t…took…” She pales and looks away, unable to finish her sentence.

“Advantage of you?” Ellie finishes her sentence, looking troubled.

Skye nods. I r…ran away w…with m…my two b…boys a…and accidentally t…trespassed onto S…Sebby’s territory. H…he took me in.”

“You have children?” Ellie asks.

“Y…yeah, t…two boys, twins. E…er, I’m p…pregnant t…too, a…another s…set off twins. I’m thirty four weeks.”

“I have children too.”

“R…really? H…how many?”

“Eight.” She blushes. “I’m p…pregnant too. T...twenty two weeks.”

Skye’s expression changes to one of surprise. “Y…you have s…seven c…children?”

Ellie blushes an even deeper red. “Yes,” she whispers, “I…we…um…” She looks at her brother for help.

“She was assaulted,” he explains, “in more than one of our cases. Five of her children are her fiance’s though.”

“Oh, w…we have s…similar t…traumas.”

“Yes, do you have nightmares?”

Skye nods. “Do you?”

“Yes, sometimes they get so bad that I can’t sleep or eat. Thomas helps though. I sleep better when he’s with me.”

“A…are you s…shifters too?”

Ellie nods. “We’re wolves.”

Skye lights up. “What color are your wolves? My wolf’s name is Winter, she has a white coat.”

Thomas and Ellie look startled. “You’re a white wolf?” Thomas asks, “so are we. We’ve never met another white wolf before.”

Skye looks confused. “Aren’t y…you t…twins? S…shouldn’t o…only one of y…you have a w…white wolf?”

“Yes, we’re twins, and yes technically only one of us should have a white wolf, but for some reason, we’re both alive and kicking and we both have white wolves.”

“Does t…that cause a…any problems?”

“Yeah, Ellie here is a bit more prone to illness than other wolves are.”

“S…so a…am I! N…not f…for the same r…reason t…though. I’m a h…hybrid.”

“A hybrid?” Ellie asks, looking fascinated, “We’ve only met really aggressive hybrids. What kind of hybrid are you?”

“Half w…wolf, h…half w…witch.”

Ellie begins to get even more excited. “Can you use magic?”

“Y…yes, I h…have several f…familiars.”

“What types of magic can you use?”

“M…most kinds, b…but I l…like t…taming and s…summoning m…magic.”

“I use a lot of attack magic. You know, fire, water, earth sort of thing.”

“I w…wish I w…was brave e…enough t…to do t…that.”

“Well, I’m sure Alpha Sebastian has a place you can practice safely.”

“O…oh, I’m n…not sure.”

“I can come around if you think that would help.”

“R…really, c…could you?” Ellie nods. Skye looks at Sebastian. “S…Sebby is that o…okay?”

“Yeah,” he answers, “I guess.”

“I’m coming too!” Thomas declares, “I’m not letting her come by herself. No offense to you, but she has a tendency to attract danger.”

“I understand that,” Sebastian answers, “as long as you don’t cause trouble, I don’t mind you coming.” Thomas nods.

Ellie and Skye finalize their plans to meet up. Afterwards, Thomas and Ellie leave the room. “How was it?” Dr. Patel asks.

“I…it was f…fun,” Skye answers, “could I g…go home now?”

“Of course, sweetheart. I’ll see you later.”

“B…bye.” She and Sebestian head out of the building and to their car.
