Chapter 97
Ethan’s Vengeance of Love
A moment later, she texted Apollo, âHey, if I do find your father, what will you do?â She added, âHeâs a
calm, collected, disciplined, responsible, and powerful man. Comes from a simple family, and they get
along well.â
âSounds nice,â Apollo texted back. It was obvious that he wasnât averse to this and was fine with it.
I knew it. He wants a father.
While Alice was staring at the text, Keith suddenly asked, âSo what do you think?â
âNot bad,â she blurted out the response Apollo gave her. She was just answering on the boyâs behalf. If
Keith was his father, then it would be a good arrangement.
Ethan heard that through the phone, and he laughed mirthlessly. Not bad? What does she mean by
that? Is she talking about Keith? His family? Sheâs married, for Godâs sake. Sheâs my wife. I canât
believe sheâd say that to someone proposing to her. Is she really trying to marry him? Iâm still here, you
know. Damn it.
Chris sneered. âShe might be stupid, but at least sheâs smart here. She knows she wonât be married to
you for long, so sheâs already finding an exit strategy. She knows youâll divorce her eventually, so sheâs
not refusing. No, thatâs acceptance. I bet sheâs going to marry him right after you guys get divorced.â
Ethan narrowed his eyes, fury flaring within them. She wants to marry him? After the divorce? How
dare she?
Keith broke into a smile after that answer. âSo, youâre sayingâ¦â For the first time, he was being
roundabout.
Marriage was not Aliceâs topmost agenda; the case about Apollo was. The marriage could only be
talked about if Keith was Apolloâs father, and she must find out if he was the man.
All she needed was a strand of hair or two. Still, she had to talk about the marriage now. She couldnât
accept his proposal. She couldnât marry him just because of that event seven years ago, and moreover,
she was in no state to marry anyone.
She just got married to Ethan. Even though they would be divorced in six months, she still couldnât
marry Keith. Since she couldnât marry him, she had to make things clear, and so, she opened her
mouth to explain herself.
However, Keithâs face fell all of a sudden and he put a finger to his lips. He had his back turned to the
camera, so Chris couldnât see anything.
Whatâs wrong? Alice froze, but she realized something was amiss right away. She didnât say anything
but took out her phone and texted, âWhatâs wrong?â
âWeâre being monitored,â texted Keith, and he looked at the camera darkly. Then he texted, âSomeoneâs
listening in.â
He knew this place had surveillance cameras, but they were mostly unused. They didnât want to intrude
on their clientsâ privacy, after all. The surveillance cameras would only be used for emergency cases,
so Keith didnât expect anyone to listen in. but due to his work, he was an alert guy, and his senses were
sharp. Just a moment earlier, he noticed that someone was eavesdropping.
âWho is it?â Aliceâs face fell as well. She didnât think someone would eavesdrop on them, and they were
just having lunch. Whom are they going for? Me, or him?
âNot sure. Letâs eat for now. Weâll talk later,â Keith quickly texted and placed his phone on the table.
Alice was close enough to see the text. Keith was a careful man thanks to his work. Since he knew
someone was listening in, he wouldnât speak anymore.
Alice nodded, and Keith summoned the waiter, telling them to serve the food. Then the two of them
spent all their time eating. Even if they were to chat, they would only make small talk.
âI think they know weâre listening in, Ethan.â Chris wasnât stupid. He knew something was up a while
later. The fact they suddenly stopped talking about the marriage was proof.
âTurn the surveillance cameras off,â Ethan said. He knew a bit about Keithâs job, and it wasnât a
surprise that Keith found out that someone was eavesdropping on them. Ethan then hung up and
instructed the driver âTake me to Chrisâ club.â
Caleb had been following Ethan all this time. He didnât hear what was going on during the call, but one
look at Ethanâs face and he knew it was about Alice.
Keith was a fast eater, but he slowed down for Alice.
Ever since Alice knew someone was eavesdropping, she felt a little miffed. She had no idea who the
eavesdropper was or what their goals were. They couldnât do anything about it, so Alice ate faster, and
they were done in twenty minutes.
They exchanged a look and understood what had to be done, and they went outside together. Just
when they were about to leave the room, Alice looked at the camera. It shouldnât be able to film them,
so if she whispered, they shouldnât be heard either. âCan I take something from you?â It was imperative
to find out if Keith was Apolloâs father, and the fastest way was through a DNA test, so she needed a
few strands of Keithâs hair. They were in the surveillance camerasâ blind spot, but she still spoke softly
just in case they were heard.
âWhat do you need?â Keith stopped and stared at her. He too was whispering.
This is about Apollo. I have to take this seriously. I cannot let anyone overhear anything.
