Chapter 9
Ethan’s Vengeance of Love
âBring Billy to the police station? He was initially being threatened, but in the end, he willingly helped
her to escape. So, Iâm afraid that we wonât be able to get anything out of him. I heard that he is a pretty
stubborn man, and no one could make him speak if he didnât want to, even if he was being tortured.â
Derek didnât get why Ethan wanted him to do so.
âIt doesnât matter whether he confesses or not.â Ethan removed his mask after Leah left the room. By
then, he was back to his usual calm self, and his jawline was well-defined.
âGot it. Iâll have it arranged,â Derek immediately replied. After half an hour, Billy was brought to the
police station. He was so mad that he wanted to swear. F*ck, who the hell did Alice offend? It was two
in the morning, and all the exits of the hotel he was at were shut, and he was seized soon after he left
the hotel. And now he was brought to the police station? These people were ruthless psychopaths.
However, since he was brought to the police station, it meant that Alice wasnât caught. Thus, he
shouldnât give himself away.
âMr. Yeager, weâve asked you to be here today to ask about some questions, and we seek your
cooperation on this.â Officer Luke, who was in charge of the questioning, spoke politely.
âSure. Iâll definitely reveal everything I know to you and cooperate as best as I can.â Billy smiled while
looking calm. Without waiting for the police officer to speak, he pulled the chair out and took a seat, as
if he was a guest there.
âMr. Yeager, do you know the woman who left the hotel with you 30 minutes ago?â
âI donât know her,â Billy didnât hesitate as he replied. At the same time, Ethan, who was observing the
interrogation via the monitor, narrowed his gaze after hearing Billyâs statement.
âI knew that Billy wouldnât have spoken the truth.â Derek scoffed and continued, âIf he didnât know who
she was, he wouldnât have put his life on the line just to help her.â
âMr. Yeager, but you helped her escape from the hotel,â Officer Luke asked.
âEscape?!â Billy laughed and asked, âWhy? Did she kill anyone? If she did, shouldnât your side issue an
order to have her arrested? Then I guess Iâm considered an accomplice.â
âItâs not that serious.â Officer Luke couldnât help but let out a sigh when he realized that it was a tough
job, as expected.
âOh, good to hear. I merely gave her a ride, and she had gotten off my car after we left the hotel. I have
no idea about what happened before and after that.â
âMr.Yeager, do you really not have any idea as to who she is?â
âNo idea. We met at a masquerade party, so everyone had a mask on. No one was able to recognize
anyone,â Billy replied nonchalantly.
âThe thing is that I heard that you only decided to help her after she threatened you.â
âOh, you can just say whatever you want. Do you have any more questions?â Billy shrugged
indifferently, and his attitude made it hard for Officer Luke to continue with the interrogation.
âBilly sure is a cunning fox,â Derek chided as he stared at the screen.
Ethan then glanced at him, and suddenly, he seemed to have understood Ethanâs motive. âBoss, I got
it. Billy, that cunning fox wouldnât be able to beat you.â Derek seemed excited as he took his phone out
and made a call. Boss had mentioned that it didnât matter whether Billy confessed, the most important
thing isâ¦
Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, Officer Lukeâs phone rang. He glanced at Billy before answering
it. Throughout the call, he didnât speak and listened quietly. Billy, on the other hand, didnât seem to care.
âYouâre saying itâs Alice Woland of the Woland Family?â Officer Luke, who was sitting in front of Billy,
suddenly exclaimed.
At that moment, Ethan was staring intently at Billy from the screen and was observing his reaction. All
of these were within Ethanâs plan. As long as there was the slightest change in his expression, Ethan
would be able to tell. Just then, Billyâs phone rang, and he was slightly stunned. Before he could react,
his expression froze, as if he had been woken suddenly.
âHi, Bruce,â Billy answered the phone and was relieved. If it wasnât for the phone call, he would have
exposed himself. That person sure was cunning for trying to trick him using this way.
Under such circumstances, even though he had prepared himself for anything that would be coming, if
the interrogator suddenly answered the phone and mentioned Aliceâs name, he would have more or
less exposed himself. He knew that someone must be observing him somewhere, and that person
would have noticed a change in his expression, given how good that person was. It was a close call!
âF*ck, that call came at the wrong time!â Derek swore as he stared at the screen. âIt had ruined our
plan.â
Knowing that his plan was destroyed by the call and that he wouldnât be able to get any information out
of Billy, Ethan instructed, âInvestigate Alice Woland and do not miss out on any information that you
can get.â
âAlright.â Although Derek doubted that the woman was Alice, he had to proceed with the investigation
since it was Ethanâs instruction.
It didnât take long for the efficient Caleb to give them a call. âMr. Knight, we found out from the petrol
station staff that the woman left in a cab not long after. Iâve managed to locate the driver, and Iâve
brought him over.â
âOk,â Ethan answered.
âChief Jenkins, Iâm a law-abiding citizen, and Iâve not done anything wrong.â The taxi driver, who
happened to know Derek, was startled when he saw a lot of police officers outside of the hotel.
âWe didnât say that youâve committed a crime. About 30 minutes ago, did you pick up a passenger from
the petrol station opposite here?â This time, Derek personally questioned the taxi driver while Ethan sat
on the side.
âYes, yes. Someone happened to order a ride on Uber, and I drove over since Iâm in the area.â The cab
driver was relieved when he found out that it was about this.
âWho is that person?â Derek asked.
âItâs a woman with a fox mask on, and she had an elaborate headpiece on. She was dressed in a
strange way, but she had a good body figure. As soon as I reached the petrol station, she got into the
car and asked me to drive toward the city. After that, she was quiet throughout the journey. She
seemed mysterious.â The taxi driver was able to give them the details as she had left a deep
impression on him.
âSeems like itâs that woman.â Derek looked at Ethan. Hearing that, Ethan pursed his lips but didnât say
anything. Since the time and the location matched, it was highly probable that it was that woman.
Earlier on, she had a white cape on so they couldnât see her figure, but after that, she passed the
blood-stained white cape to Leah.
When Derek thought of how that woman was able to escape despite being completely surrounded by
Ethanâs man, he thought that they wouldnât be able to get much information, so he didnât hold his hopes
high. âBased on what you just said, did you manage to see her face?â
âYes, I did. She didnât pay for the fare when she got off and said that she would pay me in the future. I
asked her to take the mask off, and she was reluctant in the beginning but eventually gave in. So, I was
able to see her face,â the cab driver said.
âDid you take a proper look at her? What does she look like?â Derek instantly stood on his feet, and his
eyes lit up.
Does this mean that we now have a glimmer of hope? We will be able to find that woman when we find
out what she looks like.
âLet him have a look at Aliceâs picture,â Ethan suddenly ordered as he raised his brow.
