Archie’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the face that looked as beautiful as a fiery red rose in the

mirror. “What if the Yeagers become so desperate that they cling to you and make the wedding real

instead?” He knew full well what she had planned for today, and those plans of hers were sufficient to

leave the Yeager Family in pieces. Those sinister louses in the Yeager Family would stop at nothing to

achieve their goals, he thought. He feared that the Yeagers would be so desperate as to…

A residual smile lingered coquettishly on Alice’s lips, but it was cold enough to strike a chill in one’s

heart. She put down her hand, revealing the “scars” covering her left cheek. “Don’t worry. Nothing like

that’s gonna happen,” she replied. I won’t let them have such an opportunity! She knew full well what

kind of a person Bruce was, as well as how cruel and wicked the Yeagers were. However, seven years

had passed since then. Having gotten prepared before her return, she already had nothing to fear. I’m

gonna avenge my family and make these people pay back, little by little, what they owe them. Today’s

wedding is just the beginning!

Archie let out a sigh of relief and smiled. “Well, then, I’ll be waiting for the show.”

He knew that the Yeagers would play dirty tricks at today’s wedding, but he also knew that those tricks

of theirs were pretty much nothing to Alice. If they pulled dirty tricks on her, they’d only die a quicker

and more terrible death.

Today’s show is gonna be fun to watch. Every move she makes is gonna be world-shaking! Few people

in the world are able to earn my sincere admiration, and she’s one of them. Not only that, she’s the only

woman among them. She looks ugly and is a good-for-nothing dumb*ss? What a cosmic joke it is! I

wonder how the Yeagers will react if they find out that she is the Tanner West whom they’re trying hard

to win over. Also, I wonder if those waiting to see her make a fool of herself can still laugh if they learn

that she is the Tanner whom they’re scrambling for but never get to meet. Of course, very few people

truly know how beautiful, kind, brilliant, clever, and resourceful she is, and I’m very honored to be one

of them!

At twelve noon, Alice slowly came over in her wedding dress, while Bruce looked at her with a gentle

smile. Even if he loathed her very much, he still had to keep pretending at this moment. She had

signed the transfer agreement, so the Woland Group would be transferred to his name very soon,

whereas Naomi’s plan was already fixed and arranged. He wasn’t worried that this stupid and ugly

woman would stir up some kind of trouble, but he had to maintain his image nonetheless.

He walked up to her, but his countenance changed somewhat at the sight of the scars on her face.

Suppressing his disgust, he took her hand, thinking to himself, The act has to go on. He didn’t mind

pretending for a little longer at this moment. Just another minute and I won’t have to pretend anymore.

Once the Woland Group comes into my hands, I’ll leave this disgusting and stupid woman in

humiliation.

At this moment, almost everyone in the hall was gloatingly waiting for a spectacle.

Nobody knew if Ethan just happened to be passing by upstairs, but he stopped dead in his tracks all of

a sudden. Thanks to the hotel’s design, he could see very clearly what was going on in the hall from

where he was currently standing. At this very moment, his eyes darkened as his gaze happened to fall

upon Alice’s hand, which Bruce was now holding.

Following him from behind, Caleb was stunned at once. “Mr. Knight…” He didn’t understand why his

boss had stopped all of a sudden. After following the latter’s gaze to see what was going on, he

changed color slightly. “The Yeagers are holding a wedding here today for their son and Alice Woland,

the heiress of the Woland Family. Their wedding was… decided seven years ago.” Mr. Knight is aware

of this; after all, he heard himself at the time how Alice said she’d marry Bruce with the Woland Group

as her dowry. I thought the matter was already over after seven years. And now Mr. Knight has stopped

here?

Ethan’s gaze shifted toward Alice’s face. From his angle, he happened to see the scarred half of her

face. An ambiguous look came over his fathomless eyes…

Caleb continued, “Alice caused quite a stir back then when she said that she would marry Bruce with

the Woland Group as her dowry. Some opinions of her at the time were… not very good, I’d say.” In

fact, he was already putting it as mildly as he could. Those opinions of Miss Woland at the time weren’t

just bad; some of them were simply offensive to the ear. They tore into her for being so shameless as

to hand on a silver platter the family business founded by her parents to the man she was courting

when her parents had just passed away. Furthermore, they called her a dumb*ss who was worse than

an animal for abandoning her own family—the Wolands—to chase after a man.

“The Wolands’ relationship with her was so strained at the time because of this that they nearly

disowned her right away,” he added with a soft sigh. Well, the words said against her at the time were

really a bit much, but some of them are facts. “Although she was engaged to Bruce in the first place,

the Yeagers aren’t a good family to marry into. Some even suspect that they had something to do with

Mr. and Mrs. Woland’s death. By relying on them, Miss Woland will be putting herself in peril. I bet the

Yeagers are gonna squeeze her dry until nothing is left of her. Seriously, she’s too naive and simple-

minded and ignorant of how vicious a person could be. She’s head over heels in love with Bruce, but

he isn’t the kind of person who can be trusted with one’s life—”

Ethan raised an eyebrow slightly for a moment. “Why are the Yeagers holding the wedding today?”

“Huh?” Caleb was startled. “To get their hands on the Woland Group, of course.” Isn’t that obvious?

Why would Mr. Knight ask such an unnecessary question?

Ethan’s gaze fell upon Alice. “The fact that the Yeagers are holding such a grand wedding today shows

that the Woland Group has been firmly in Alice’s hands over the last seven years, with no one being

able to take a share of it. It’s mostly because of what she said about the Woland Group being her

dowry seven years ago that the company has been able to weather the crisis over the last seven

years,” he explained.

“Since the Yeagers could legitimately have the Woland Group to themselves, they stopped some of

their covert moves and refrained from doing anything reckless again. Naturally, those others who had

designs on the company were stopped by them,” he said. “One may not have to leave themselves at

the mercy of others when they’re weak and defenseless against the attacks from all sides by the cruel

and the wicked. Instead, they can divert the attacks by finding an equilibrium in which the wicked

parties would balance one another. It’s just that few people can do this when they’re faced with such a

dangerous situation.” But now, it seems that Alice has apparently succeeded in doing so.

Alice was only 18 years old seven years ago. A 18-year-old young lady! And besides, seven years isn’t

a short period, and the Yeagers are no kind-hearted people, he thought. The Woland Group is like an

attractive piece of meat hanging before their very eyes for them to see, but they can neither get their

hands on it nor take a slice of it. I don’t believe they’ve not done anything over the last seven years. At

least they’d try every way possible to bring the wedding forward. After all, if the wedding were brought

forward, they’d be able to lay their hands on the Woland Group sooner.
