Chapter 138

“How do you plan to deal with the Wolands?” Finally, Ethan approached Alice and asked in a low voice.

Even though she didn’t ask for his help, which made him disgruntled and envious, he felt that he should

take the initiative and offer his help. When it was time for him to act, he would do it without hesitation!

Otherwise, compared to the person she praised as the best, he would be the one that was one-sidedly

beaten, and he would never allow something like this to happen in his life.

Am I going to lose to someone else? That’s impossible, no matter who the person is, their gender, and

their age.

Alice scrutinized Ethan and thought that he was behaving rather oddly, but she couldn’t exactly

describe why. However, she thought about his question before answering, “For the sake of my late

father, I’ll show them mercy for the last time.” A cold smirk tinged the edge of her lips when she said

that. Are those people from the Wolands deserving of my mercy?

She could tell that Ethan wanted to interfere and help her solve this. Whether it was because she had

saved Caroline before or they were now husband and wife in name, Ethan wasn’t a person who would

stand on the sidelines when encountering something like this and it was expected that he would

interfere.

Nevertheless, what fun would it be for the Wolands if he acted? He could already wipe out the entire

Woland Family with just a lift of his pinkie, but she wanted to find evidence of those people who caused

the death of her parents back then. If Charles was also involved in this, Alice reckoned that it would be

even more difficult to find the evidence. Therefore, she had to take things step by step and not let

Ethan wipe them out in one swift move.

Of course, she would need to do a DNA test to be sure if her father was related to Charles. After that,

she was going to get back all the things that Charles had meticulously taken from her parents over the

years so that he could have a taste of what it felt like to slowly lose the things he valued the most after

obtaining them. In the meantime, she wanted to take back all those assets openly and brazenly with

the sole purpose of making the Wolands mad and annoyed at her. She wanted to ensure that they

wouldn’t be able to do anything but watch as she tormented them.

Ethan’s eyes flickered as he returned her gaze. Why do I have the feeling that she isn’t going to show

them mercy? Based on his understanding of Little Fox, she wouldn’t provoke others first, but once

someone picked a fight with her, he reckoned that they wouldn’t end up in one piece. Besides, she kept

a list of the mistakes he had made. For instance, she remembered all those things which he thought

were nothing. Still, he would listen to her and not wipe out the Wolands for now. Since she wanted to

drag this out, he would allow her this and make his move once she had had enough.

The surveillance continued to play on the big screen, and Mr. Fernandez fast-forwarded it to skip the

blank images in the beginning. Now, the screen showed Amelia dragging Ashley into the lounge before

pulling out a fruit knife from her handbag, which was exactly that murder weapon.

When she took the knife out of her purse, it was wrapped in paper, and she didn’t touch it directly with

the paper in between. Then, she placed the knife into Ashley’s hands and said, “Stab yourself in the

stomach with this. I’m not touching it lest I leave any prints behind.” Fear and hesitation were written

over Ashley’s face when her hands shakily retrieved the knife. “Do it quickly. Alice will be here soon.”

When Emma noticed her hesitation, she urged Amelia, but this statement from her revealed

immediately caused the crowd to question the Wolands.

How would Emma know that Alice would be here soon? At that time, Alice was helping Charles as he

took a break. So, why would she come here alone?

Ethan took a glance at the surveillance video that was playing over the big screen. There was nothing

to worry about in the situation now. Although Alice asked for the help of others instead of him, the

problem was solved.

Now, she wouldn’t have any problems, and the ones in trouble were the people from the Woland

Family. It was time for him to do something else; something which had to be done.

Ethan’s eyes drifted to the lounge on the left, where Charles was still resting inside. Alice might have

said that she wanted to show them mercy for one last time, and he knew that she definitely had

something up her sleeve, but it wasn’t his style to sit by and watch in vain as others walked over his

woman.

Hence, he went straight into the lounge on the left. Inside, Charles wore a glum face, looking even

worse than he did when he was pretending to be sick in front of Alice earlier. The surveillance that was

playing in the banquet hall was very loud. Even if he didn’t leave the lounge, he could hear everything

clearly.

Never did he imagine that Alice could restore the surveillance, and it was a blow to him that his plan

had failed. His efforts were rewarded with nothing but a complete failure.

This time, he wouldn’t be able to send Alice to jail. What a waste of his meticulously planned scheme

that he spent his time on. All he could do was look for another opportunity and lie in wait. He was

careless and underestimated Alice this time, but the next time, he would ensure that his plan would be

a fatal strike.

He had yet to lose, and he would never lose to a young girl like Alice. I’m going to regroup and do

everything in my power to squash Alice like the bug she is, he decided. I’m not going to give her any

chance to make a comeback.

Just then, Ethan walked into the lounge, and shock was apparent on Charles’ face at the sight of him.

However, after a moment of shock, his wrinkled eyes gleamed with a pleasant surprise.

Previously, he was already informed that Ethan was going to attend his party, but since he had a plan

to execute and he couldn’t find Ethan in the banquet hall, he didn’t manage to have a chat with him,

which he thought was a pity. Unexpectedly, Ethan had walked right through the door to visit him in the

lounge now.

At the fact that Ethan specially came to look for him in the lounge, Charles wondered what sort of good

news he was bringing along to him. After all, a person like Ethan wouldn’t specially visit him unless

something was up, and he never had a quarrel with Ethan before, so he concluded that Ethan was

probably he with good tidings.

“Mr. Knight, you…” Charles felt pumped with adrenaline as he appeared excited. He even jumped up

from the couch all of a sudden to welcome Ethan. It was at that moment when he put on a pleasing and

bootlicker look.

Ethan swept his gaze over the old man and didn’t hide his disgust for him even though he would

usually take care to not display his emotions. Little Fox is such a proud person. How could she have a

family like this? He wouldn’t even bother glancing at Charles if it weren’t because he was trying to

defend his woman. “I’m only here to tell you one thing.”
