Let Me Lay This Shit Out For Ya

Infinity

Paisley

After Zayla left, I pulled Zayn and Skyla into the living room. My concern for Zayla overpowered my care for formalities and respect for my alpha.

“Please sit!” I give them a gentle yet firm nudge onto the couch. Zayn’s bigger body thuds slightly at my move.

“Alright Paisley, you have our attention, no need to shove.” He lets out a chuckle, but it’s anything but happy. It’s hurt and unsure, saddened by what was said.

Clearing my throat, I begin.

“Let me just start out by saying that I love you both so much, and I know I’m not one of your children, but even though my birth givers hurt you both, you’ve treated me like family and I’ll never be able to repay you for that.”

“Oh Pais, we could never blame you for what Richard and Sarah have done! We love you so much!”

That right there is why I love this family: they’re so understanding… It’s also why I’m so fucking confused at their reaction to Zayla.

So with a deep sigh I continue.

“This isn’t my place to tell you this, but I’m not sure if Zayla will, especially now.”

At that sentence, Zayn’s eyes widen and his brow raises in questioning confusion.

“What do you mean ‘especially now’?”

“Look! Zayla told me what you and the twins said, and you’re wrong!” I suck in air quickly before word vomit spews out of my mouth.

“Zayla didn’t tell you because…well how does someone tell their family about Soren. I mean, he’s not exactly an easy thing to explain… Hell, I barely understood for the first half of her story.”

The words are out of my mouth so fast I’m not sure they even heard them…well, until Skyla speaks.

“Who is Soren?” Her confusion is far too clear in her tone.

“Soren is Zayla’s mate!” Putting my hand up, I stop the rapid-fire questions that I know are about to hit me.

“Before you ask, no. I don’t know who he is, or what he even looks like. But I do know he’s possessive.”

I can’t help but chuckle at the last part, the club incident still fresh in my mind.

“If he’s possessive, why won’t he show himself?”

“Your guess is as good as mine. All I know about him is that he’s fast enough to be invisible to the naked eye, and that he was able to compel all of Euphoria, the club, within a few seconds.”

The confusion plays out on their faces as they try to piece together the information I just delivered.

Their moment of thinking is interrupted by a pack warrior rushing into the room.

“Alpha, Luna! There are rogues sighted on the east perimeter.” His eyes glance at me and a look of discomfort overshadows his features.

Zayn jumps up, ready to run out, but halts when he notices how the wolf is looking at me. “Is there something else you need to say?”

Clearing his throat, he continues with a shaky breath. “We smelled a familiar wolf among them.”

“Who?!?” Growing irritated by his halting, Zayn’s alpha command rings out in the quiet living room.

Turning his head toward me, he looks worried. “We didn’t see her, and the smell was really faint, but we smelled your mother.”

Not wasting a moment, my wolf rips out of me, rushing out of the house and toward the east. The area is clear except for one dead wolf.

The scent of my mother is barely there, but I do fucking smell her.

Zayn and Skyla, who were right on my tail, brush their wolves on either side of mine, snapping her from her haze before their voices start ringing through my head through the pack link.

“Why don’t you go check on your Aunt Ashley.” Nodding slightly, I rush off in the other direction, leaving them to handle the dead rogue.

While I run through the woods, thinking of nothing but finding my mother, it hits me.

There’s one important thing I forgot to tell them about Zayla and Soren.
