Chapter 1193 An Unexpected Phone Call Many actors in the industry owed their successful careers to their influential and affluent parents. These actors were often given prominent roles despite their subpar acting skills. As expected, their performances had worn down the reputation of the entire show.

Director Moen seemed resigned as he admitted, “You’re right. I should accept it. An opportunity like this is hard to come by.”

“I’m glad you’re being sensible, Director Moen.” Thomas complimented him.

The director rubbed his chest and sighed, “You’re making me even more heartbroken. It’s been my painstaking effort, after all.”

Thomas offered, “When will you be free, Director Moen? I’ll have my lawyer draft the contract, and we can sign it.”

“I’m available anytime. Just let me know, and I’ll gather the actors and crew.” Director Moen replied.

“Thank you, Director Moen,” Thomas said gratefully.

The director sighed once more before ending the call. It was a difficult decision, and he felt his mental state was about to crumble. Nevertheless, he had to make this sacrifice for the sake of the future.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, they hung up.

Thomas then messaged Gareth.

Gareth and Elisa were on their way home, and the car was filled with ominous silence. Gareth bore a somber expression and ignored his buzzing phone.

Meanwhile, Elisa leaned back and closed her eyes. The movie stirred up her emotions and left her feeling a bit disoriented. It wasn’t the ending that affected her but the memories it evoked. She had once given everything for Gareth, only to end up with nothing in the end.

Thinking of this, Elisa suddenly opened her eyes, and a bitter smile appeared, which she quickly concealed.

Suddenly, her phone rang, and she assumed it was from Rachel. But to her surprise, it was Darren.

She glanced at Gareth, “It’s your grandfather.”

Gareth furrowed. Elisa answered the call in the car.

“Hello, Old Mr.Wickam.”

Following her divorce with Gareth, she no longer called Darren ‘Grandpa’ as the latter didn’t approve of her and deemed her unworthy of belonging to the Wickam family. Despite this, Darren sounded uneasy about her new address, calling him ‘Old Mr.

Wickam.’

He took a deep breath and asked softly, “Liz, can you call me Grandpa again, like you used to?”

Gareth listened to the conversation but remained silent and apathetic.

Elisa didn’t respond to his request. Unsure if Julia was with Darren, so she asked, “Is there a reason you’re calling me? How is Grandma? Is she feeling okay after her shot?”

Darren understood Elisa’s concern, “She’s not with me right now. I called because I need to talk to you about something.”
