Chapter 41.2
Absolute Advantage
âHaewon, why did you go there? Did she call you?â
âNo, I came to see her.â
âWhy?â
ââ¦â¦Do we have to meet for a reason? Weâre family.â
Hae-won, who answered well, stuttered.
As Adam kept asking questions, she felt like she had to hide it for some reason. Anyway, why is Adam so inquisitive?
âFamily.â
Adam scoffed at them.
âYou wouldnât think of that as a family.â
Adam was sarcastic and added.
Haewonâs grip of the seat and did not say anything. Then she glanced at Adamâs complexion. Adam didnât want to see her meeting Elliefor no apparent reason.
A person who normally thinks in the first place doesnât think that the fiance is doing something behind the scenes, and Haewon did the same.
âDonât be mean for nothing.â
âHave I ever been mean?â
Haewon continued to speak in a calm voice.
âI understand how much Adam is worried about me. But itâs another thing to say bad things about my family, and itâs not polite to each other. Yes?â
âThen Haewon, curse too.â
âWhat?â
âTo my brothers, swear to your heartâs content. Iâll allow it, and especially because itâs Haewon.â
Adam grinned. For a moment, Haewon was far away.
Hae-won pressed his forehead and bit back.
âAdam, are you 28 years old?â
âWhatâs with my age all of a sudden?â
Adamâs eyes narrowed as he looked at Haewon.
When she brings up the topic of age, he instinctively becomes wary. The fact that he was two years younger than her was a wall he couldnât overcome no matter how hard he tried.
âItâs newâ¦.â
Haewon was amazed by Adamâs response. On the surface, she thought he didnât have many thoughts, but she guessed he was worried about being young.
Then wouldnât it be possible to tame Adam with this? Hae-won insinuated.
âWhy donât you act your age?â
âHaewon, I didnât see you like that, but youâre an oldie.â
Adam smiled predictably.
âWhere did you learn to sayâ¦. that?â
âWhy canât I learn?â
Hae-won shut her mouth tightly.
Letâs not talk. Haewon has completely lost the will to speak. Anyway, she cleared up the misunderstanding, so itâs okay.
Then Adamâs arms wrapped around Haewonâs waist and asked softly, âDonât you like guys who are jealous?â
ââ¦â¦What?â
Jealousy.
Is it a joke or a real thing?
Haewon pondered between two possibilities.
To be honest, she wanted to put more weight on the joke, and it was because Adam really liked her.
Be nothing more than a partner in a marriage of politics.
Beyond finding the source of jealousy, what is her relationship with Adam now?
At first, he came like a tide and soaked up Haewon, and then slowly escaped alone again.
But before she knew it, everything turned into an offshore stream.
Instead of returning alone like a low tide, it became a strong current and dragged Haewon into the sea.
The waves created by Adam came to the realm of emotion and shook the sea. Sheâs soaked now.
âTake care of it properly.â
The chairmanâs harsh voice flooded in like a furnace in Hae-wonâs head. The complicated mind quickly turned into a sandy beach.
Hae-won looked like a drowning mouse and looked up at Adam. Words did not come out as if shells were stuck in her throat.
What should I say?
âHahaha.â
Then Adam burst into laughter.
Adam, who held Haewonâs body tightly, put his chin on her shoulder and continued.
âIs this a question that will take so long?â
âItâs not thatâ¦â¦.â
âOkay, Haewon doesnât like guys who are jealous.â
Adam concluded in a clear voice.
Hae-won kept her head down, so he couldnât tell what expression she was making. One thing was certain.
She shouldnât have hesitated.
She should have said something.
* * *
The next day.
Haewonâs mind was filled with Adam.
Yesterday Adam went home late at night and Haewon had to spend an awkward night alone.
âDonât you like guys who are jealous?â
Why couldnât she answer right away?
When she said she would take responsibility for him and yet not care about what heâs thinking of. Itâs a shame that Adam smiled and mollified the situation.
It couldnât be worse.
A horribly coward.
That was the reputation that Seo Haewon gave herself.
It was Hae-won herself who used Adamâs body to deceive the heat cycle, to silence misunderstandings.
So Adamâs words, âA physical relationship,â were not wrong. No, is there a more accurate expression than that?
But she didnât want to define the relationship between the two with such painful words as a relationship with only the body.
âThereâs no love; thereâs only a contract.â
Hae-won realized anew how innocent and foolish she was in the past. She kept getting upset when she thought of Adam.
Body and mind.
âCEO, CEO.â
âOh.â
Hae-won suddenly raised her head at the sound of Bora calling. The long waiting line suddenly decreased, so it was Haewonâs turn to order.
